|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Walking distance to Windmill Green, Great Pond, Long Pond, Brown's Grocery, Eastham Library, bike paths and Little Capistrano's Bike Rental (rent a bike and ride to the ocean and visitor center)!! Large backyard with deck and charcoal bbq, internet, cable, dvd player, hair dryer, sharing book library.
1st bdrm has queen bed; 2nd bdrm has 2 twins(can be pushed together), living room has queen convertible couch and twin convertible loveseat.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Eastham. This rental was more than sufficient for a couple traveling with 2 Chihuahuas. We really only used the master bedroom, but the second bedroom is on the opposite end of the house with an ensuite bathroom. Unfortunately, the bathroom nearer to the master bedroom has not been updated in some time (it has a quirky old time aesthetic but the sink barely let out enough water to wash your hands). The second bathroom was recently updated, but less convenient to access from the living and master bedroom area. The house is adequately furnished, nothing fancy, a little worn. A couple of the dressers appeared to be well kept mid-century pieces.
Limited cable TV. Bring your own DVDs if you want to watch TV. Bring your own games too. The house is well stocked with towels and linens. Access to laundry was helpful. Kitchen is stocked with the bare basics. We were fine cooking for two but I imagine if you are cooking and serving meals to a larger group you might find the kitchen supplies to be limited.
As others have mentioned, the bed in the master bedroom is less than comfortable. It's squeaky and the plastic mattress cover is annoying.
A portable air conditioner is provided for the master -- it is not powerful enough to cool the whole house.
The owner provides a single key to the front door. It would have been nice to have a key to the garage door too, as this would have made moving groceries etc from the car to the kitchen easier.
Ant traps galore!! I suppose this was good because we didn't see many ants indoors. However, given that we had 2 small dogs with us, we were cautious about the dogs finding the traps and eating them.
We greatly enjoyed the location. One can easily access the Cape Cod Rail Trail and businesses in Eastham. Get your bikes at Little Capistrano bike rental. Be sure to check out the bay and ocean beaches. Ponds are nearby too.
4/5 - stars. The house is generally more utilitarian than attractive. It's the no-frills nature of the rental that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. The owners could easily turn this into a 5 star rental by servicing one of the bathrooms, replacing some of the living room furniture, perhaps getting another window A/C unit, perhaps putting in a fire pit or making the outdoor spaces more usable. Also, the kitchen supplies are definitely limited if you have a larger group.
Appreciated that the house was stocked with paper towels and TP.
This ranch style home was perfectly located within minutes to everything in Eastham and Orleans. It had everything needed in the kitchen for those of us who like to cook, Wi-Fi, cleaning supplies, beach chairs, washer/dryer and linens. It could have been more perfect if the outdoor shower had worked. I love the privacy and quiet of the road even though it is close to Route 6. Hopefully, I will be able to return next summer for another pleasure filled break from the ordinary.
There is certainly nothing to complain about. We (2 adults) were very comfortable in the two single bed room. It was so easy to get anywhere we wanted to go from the central location. The wind mill park has music on Mondays and as we were leaving setting up for a craft fair. The house is very clean and provides all you would need on a vacation. There is a very short drive to First Encounter Beach.
We had a wonderful time. Could bike/walk to Great Pond, bike to Coast Guard Beach or First Encounter. Walking distance to the superette and the windmill for the summer concerts. New bathroom with useful large walk-in shower with the twin bed bedroom. Very private and spacious back yard. Quiet lovely neighborhood. Only downside was the bed in the master bedroom - very uncomfortable! Kitchen could have used more plates. We brought our well-trained dog and had no problems. Owner was great and very quick to respond. Thank you for a great week on the Cape - we love Eastham and look forward to returning.
This location was ideal and our kids love having our dog come on family vacations! You are close to the beach, ponds, food, and even the grocery store. My son caught some big bass (large mouth and small mouth) in the pond, and he fished every morning. Coast guard beach is amazing! We really enjoyed this place and our time in Eastham.
Our family of 4 stayed at this Eastham home. It is located on a very quiet street within walking distance to the convenience store/deli and town center (with a windmill and an arts festival on the weekends). We were able to bike to Great Pond (our favorite swimming spot - clean and clear water with dock) and the rail trail with our children (ages 8 & 9). First Encounter was a bit far for them but less than a 5 minute drive from the house (beautiful sunsets, easy parking, hermit crabs, warmish water).
The house itself was clean and the living areas comfortable. The twin beds were fine for the kids but we found the master bed to be uncomfortable. The mattresses are covered in plastic, which would make us hot and the frame was quite squeaky. The portable air conditioner found in the closet was a great help. The bathroom in the first bedroom is handicap accessible and updated. The second bathroom is outdated. Both bathrooms have hand-showers which is great for kids. Nice fridge, good washer/dryer, old pots & pans, sufficient dining ware, good toaster and microwave, patio furniture, charcoal grill and some beach toys.
Overall we had a pleasant experience. We would stay there again because of the location, price, and pet friendly policy. However, next time we would bring an airbed.
