We really enjoyed our time at Three Bears Cabin. The hot tub and fire pit were awesome. The cabin was very clean and made you feel at home. Good location and an overall great experience!
This was a really wonderful place - to get away from the everyday life. we rented the home for the weekend and we had our niece and nephew and they thought it was great. we got to visit the Vineyard again and that was wonderful - they loved that - we went to eat at the restaurants in town great service and good food. I would highly recommend this anyone that would want to stay in the mountains.
This really a very nice property and we had no issues with our three-day stay. The road to Banner Elk is very winding but it's less than three miles into town. In summer months the Bearcat Lake swimming area and sandy beach are open, and they're only about 10 minutes away. Elk Creek Falls is another popular area, about 30 minutes' drive. Neighboring homes are adjacent to this parcel, so you don't need to worry about being too remote. The wireless internet worked fine, as did the DirecTV for entertainment. There are two dual-flood motion-activated light fixtures on the front porch; if they don't work, simply re-set the breaker switch that's built into the AC outlet near the front door.
We rented this cabin as a "home base" to hit some of the more popular sights to see in the area over Memorial Day. The location was great...close to Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge/Falls, Linville caverns, Boone, Blowing Rock, Julian Price Park hikes, and not too far to Mt. Mitchell either. Knowing it would be a busy weekend in the mountains we went to Grandfather Mtn early...right when they opened and pretty much had the place almost to ourselves. Go early if you are going on a weekend (the traffic was backing up significantly on our way out)! Banner Elk is only a few minutes away for food supplies, shopping/restaurants and the lake 2 miles down the road was great too. The cabin was clean, well equipped and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The gas grill worked well...my only suggestion to the owner would be a grill brush. I couldn't find one (maybe I just didn't look in the right place) or we would have scrubbed it a little better. The layout was great for my wife and me, our 2 kids, and grandma too. The beds were comfortable (nice linens and towels too) and the couches in the living area were comfortable too. The porch and hot tub were nice for some quiet time as well. The driveway to the top parking area is pretty steep....we didn't have 4 wheel drive and our mini-van made it up, but struggled a bit (though we were pretty loaded down!). The added 2nd driveway was a better alternative for us and was the one we used after the first night. The owner was quick to provide directions and that was really all of the information we needed. It was a nice touch for them to provide some information on the table under the TV for local attractions and information too. All in all, the cabin was even better than we expected and I would certainly recommend it! Thanks!!
My wife and I took our girls out to this cabin for the weekend and were blown away with the cabin features, mountain feel and comfort. We ended up going on a rainy and chilly weekend but the amenities at the cabin, not to mention surrounding area, made it a weekend to remember.
The cabin sits on the side of the mountain on a tree filled lot making you feel immersed in the forest and experience all that you want in a cabin retreat. The cabin welcomes you with an out door fire pit and indoor fireplace. Both of which we used to the fullest. One night we built a fire and enjoyed the hot tub for hours with the family.
When we were inside we enjoyed the multiple Smart TVs with direct TV, endless board games and foos ball table.
The cabin itself is meticulous maintained. The rooms, bathroom and kitchen were all spotless as if it was your own home or better. The beds were comfortable and plenty of linens.
Activities in the area are endless. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the banner elk cafe, went to mine gems at the sugar creek mining company, enjoyed wine at the banner elk winery with live music and hiked around grandfather mountain.
We look forward to staying here again!!!
