Charming and Just Right for a Weekend Getaway
We literally hung out around the cottage (e.g., grilling, cooking, enjoying each others company) and hot tub the entire weekend. It was a nice getaway for a small group of friends and a great way to disconnect. The distance from DC was awesome too! I would highly recommend this property. Thanks, Rachelle & Don!
We are so glad you enjoyed Beavers Hill Cottage so much that you spent so much time there with your friends. Thanks so much for your kind review. Please come back to stay anytime!

Couldn't get any better
We had a fantastic time at the Beavers Hill Cottage. It was the perfect retreat from the noisy city life. So private and charming. Everything one could have wanted was there in its best form. What a lovely home. Thank you!
Thank you for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Beavers Hill Cottage. Please come back and stay with us in the future!

Beautiful mountain retreat
We needed some extra rooms for a family reunion and this place was perfect. My aunt writes: The house is great and the beds are comfortable. The master bedroom/bath is on the first floor which was very convenient for me who doesn't walk well; two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. There is a fireplace that would be fun to use in cooler weather. The best part might be the sunny deck right outside the kitchen which is perfect for sipping coffee (and waking up) in the morning. And, the owner left a welcome bottle of Fox Meadow wine on the kitchen counter.
Thanks so much Michele for staying with us again! We are so glad your family enjoyed Beavers Hill Cottage. We just power washed and stained our deck so we're glad your family was one of the first ones to enjoy it!
We're happy your Aunt enjoyed the convenience of the first floor master bedroom and bathroom. The wood burning stove is definitely great during the cooler months and makes the cottage even more cozy.
Thanks again for staying at Beavers Hill Cottage and we hope you come back to stay again in the future!

Well worth the drive(way)!
If we wanted to dwell in a snug little house on a wooded mountainside (and, secretly, who doesn't?), it would look pretty much like "Beavers Hill Cottage." Surprisingly roomy, comfily appointed, and tidily kept, this was a very nice space to step into after a long day on the road. The bottle of proprietary wine on the counter was a classy touch. And it didn't hurt being lulled to sleep by the sound of the babbling brook beneath the window or awakened next morning by the lilting call of the wood thrush just outside. Not only were we loth to leave, but when we beheld by dawn's early light the steep driveway down which we had come in the dark, we feared we wouldn't be able to. But, alas, we made it out!
Thanks so much for your review....we enjoyed reading it and are glad you enjoyed your stay!
Come back to visit!

Wonderful Secluded Cabin
I just had a wonderful experience at Beaver's Hill Cottage. Three girlfriends and I had a nice girls weekend away. The beds were comfortable, and the house very clean, with every modern convenience. It is small, but has good, efficient use of space. It rained all weekend and the rain made the driveway somewhat tricky because it is so steep, but the owners are all over it and were very responsive throughout. I hope to return.
We are so glad you enjoyed Beavers Hill Cottage. It is very relaxing out there just listening to the sounds of nature while enjoying the modern conveniences of the cottage. Thanks again and we hope you come back to stay!

The house is well kept and meticulously clean. There was a warning about stink bugs and I was a little worried given I've seen out of control stink bugs, but I only saw one single bug inside the house. The house is surrounded by dense trees, which is nice from a privacy perspective, but I was hoping for a mountain view which you definitely do not get once the foliage comes out. The beds are a little firm for folks that don't sleep on their backs. The kitchen is tiny, but well appointed. While there is dish network, I don't think you should be planning to watch much live TV, as the few times I tried it, it would only work for a few minutes before losing connection to the satellite. There is an extensive DVD library available, lots of good movies there. There's central air, but it doesn't seem to run upstairs. We didn't have anyone staying on the second floor so I didn't try to figure out how to cool it off, but it was "attic hot" up there when I checked it out. The complimentary tasting to Fox Winery on the mountain was very nice, and owners also left a treat for the dog which was very thoughtful. The vineyard has a beautiful vista and a decent wine selection (although a little pricey for what you get IMHO).
Thank you for your review. We do have dish network, depending on the weather conditions/trees the HD channels can be a little spotty at times. We do not have any signal loss or issues with the non-HD channels. We are hoping that Comcast cable is coming out to the cottage soon, but we do not have any definite dates yet.
We do have central air in the cottage and our master bedroom is on the first floor. Since the cottage is a cape code style it does tend to get warmer upstairs during the warmer months. You can remedy this by closing the vents downstairs and turning the air conditioner to a cooler temperature while you're there.
Fox Meadow Winery is the closest winery to the cottage and the views alone are beautiful. Dan and Cheryl are wonderful and we really enjoy their wine. Most Virginia wineries charge similar amounts for their wine due to being a smaller farm winery.
We hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your review.
