About the property

Serenity and Relaxation is What You Will Find in This Quaint Saugatuck Cottage!

This historic cottage has been fully renovated by Saugatuck's premier builder . It sits on a half acre of woods and gardens and the owner also owns the 1/2 acre of woods behind with wandering paths to a pond. All this and you can still (0.8 miles) walk to all the restaurants, shopping and art galleries. it features an open floor plan with a new galley kitchen. It has the original footed tub, a screened in back porch that faces the gardens and woods and a hot tub for two. it occupies a 1 and 1/2 parcel with the 150 year old house where the owners live, but has been designed to give you full privacy from the main house. The cottage itself is surrounded by woods, fields and the old farm outbuildings. The owners are available if you need advice on things to do but only have interaction with renters if you initiate it. This is your chance to enjoy a historic location with modern amenities and none of the hassles of ownership !

About Bart Webb

Bart and Billy grew up on the beaches of the east coast but moved to Chicago 20 years ago. We have always missed the laid back vibe of the old East coast beach towns and when we discovered Saugatuck we felt we had found a place to reconnect to our roots and moved here year round.

Bart Webb purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Bart Webb chose Michigan

Vivian is a 120 year old, newly renovated cottage that is adjacent to an old orchard and is set back from the road in a meadow with a back porch that overlooks a wooded preserve.

What makes this cottage unique

It is the last property on the north end of town, yet still feels part of the town of Saugatuck while offering privacy. While the main house is next door, we have designed the property for complete privacy,

Very well-kept and private

  • 5 of 5

This was a great property. It's definitely small -- you don't really want more than 2 people staying there. But the owners went out of their way to make it look very nice. The location is also great -- very secluded, but then a quick walk to The Southerner or a longer-but-pleasant walk into town.

Tiny but nice

  • 4 of 5

We had a really nice stay in this little cottage. It was peaceful and quiet. The bed was really comfortable and the cottage was clean and cozy. I do have a few suggestions:

That there be some kind of window covering available over the doors and the bathroom window

That the inner shower curtain be made a little shorter so that you aren't fighting with standing on it while you shower.

And PLEASE replace the couch/futon. That couch/futon was very uncomfortable to even sit on, I can't imagine trying to sleep there.

Bart and Bill were helpful when we needed them and responded right away. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little cottage. We had a great weekend!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the tip on the futon, we will be adding to our shopping list for the season for replacement!

We found this cottage perfect for a long weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage offers a private back yard, set back from the street, surrounded by mature gardens and trees. The interior is quite charming, clean, and stocked with supplies you need. An added bonus...the location is close to shops, hiking trails, and the beach! We had a great time and would use this cottage again.

Quaint and private

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience staying at the cottage. Everything was ready for us, and we appreciated the privacy. It was the perfect weekend, rain and all, to celebrate our 17th anniversary! Thank you Bart!

Sweet little spot for a simple geteaway

  • 5 of 5

Met my needs perfectly. Great communication from host, ideal mix of walkable to town yet nestled by the woods away from the action. Enjoyed a soak in the claw foot tub (shower situation OK, given the teeny bathroom) and slept comfortably with the windows open. Good setup for dining-in with your leftovers, and back screened porch kept me from feeling cooped up in a small place. The place was clean enough, given the likelihood that I dragged in sand from the yard and beach. Definitely plan to return!

Clean, well decorated and great location

  • 4 of 5

As advertised, very small but cozy cottage. It is both tucked away but close to all attractions...was short bike ride to "downtown" restaurants and galleries and nice bike ride the opposite direction to a wonderful State Park.

Cottage itself was very clean, decorated well and hot tub outside was wonderful.

Will return.
