Great cabin in great location

  • 5 of 5

The Hayes' 1st Chair Chalet is ideally situated in the closest town to Monarch Pass so it is a quick trip (2 miles?) to the base of the mountain. The cabin is rustic looking from the outside, and basically brand new inside, well equipped and comfortable for 6 with a nice deck overlooking a woodsy glade and burbling brook, great Buck wood stove, large hot tub, and convenient entryway for ski and pole and boot storage. Bruce is great to deal with over email and I would highly recommend his place.

Perfect for Our Family!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin in the charming little community of Garfield was just perfect for our family's ski vacation! In the past, we've always stayed down in town, but with three young skiers, we wanted to be a bit closer to Monarch---in case we needed to take a break (or a nap for the littlest one!). Other than being close to the ski resort, some of my favorite things about the cabin are: the wood burning stove, the babbling creek in the back, the beautiful forest, the great supply of movies, the coziness on a snowy night, the fact that you can bring your furry friend along! My boys favorite things: all the beautiful space to explore, the hot tub on the deck, the snow shovels and sleds (yes, they love to shovel snow!), and the fun trail up into the mountains. We got "snowed in" the last night of our stay, with 14 inches of snow falling. This cabin was the perfect place to be---with the snowing falling outside and our fire roaring inside. Bruce was an excellent host and very great to communicate with. I highly recommend staying here!

Cute, cozy, and CLEAN!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at the 1st Chair Chalet! My husband and I had an extended weekend to celebrate our 5th anniversary with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend, who was visiting from South Africa! It was the perfect place to get away and relax. We loved the sound of the creek flowing in the back and of course the hot tub on those cold winter nights! Most importantly it was clean! They only negative would have to be the stairs.

Being from Kansas, we weren't use to the elevation up in the mountains and we got quite winded whenever we made the trip up the stairs to the bedrooms, but it really wasn't a big deal! We will definitely be coming back in the future! Thanks Bruce, for letting us stay in your cabin for the weekend! :)

Glamping cabin mountain views

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful dream come true, when we booked this cabin. It had everything we needed from, a full kitchen, clean cabin, fireplace, hot tub, starry nights, creek beside cabin and beautiful mountains views! So relaxing and so much to do there.

Nice place

  • 5 of 5

My wife, son and I enjoyed our short stay here. We have stayed in several rental cabins and have never felt as accomidated as we did here. As if the owner actually cared about the guests being comfortable. Thank you Bruce.
