The house is a perfect getaway! Well built, cozy and with all the amenities you need. The property is beautiful and the tiki bar and pond are a great place to relax. I needed a place to get away from life to work on a project and collaborate with some friends. Sam and Mark made sure everything was there and that I felt welcomed even though we didn't actually meet. You are far enough away from civilization for solitude but close enough to go out for dinner if you wish! I felt like a member of the family visiting for a few days - very comfortable!
My husband, myself and our "20 something" children and spouses spent four enjoyable days at the cottage.
The property offers seclusion, but close enough to grocery stores, restaurants, etc... They had plenty of linens, pots and pans, dishes, etc... Everything we needed to cook our meals.
We enjoyed our mornings and nights sitting in the rocking chairs on screened in porch! So peaceful!
The deck with the tiki bar was next to the pond. It was lit up at night, had plenty of seating and a screened in area. We used the pier behind the main house for fishing and crabbing. It was so peaceful just sitting on the pier- looking out at the water!
We had such a great time our first night, we cancelled our sight seeing plans for the second day to spend the day on the property.
Sam and Mark were wonderful hosts! They not only shared their catches, but cooked the fish and hush puppies for us. So delicious! We had a Fabulous time!
We are looking forward to coming back next year! And staying longer! We plan on staying a full week next time!
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
The Cottage at Jameslin was the perfect choice for a brief end-of-summer get-away for the six of us. The location was perfect - away from it all, yet a quick trip to the Williamsburg area. The cottage and grounds were very clean. The Tiki Bar was an oasis - a great place for family bonding or just enjoying the butterflies and hummingbirds. The pier was delightful for watching sunrises and herons. Our stay was highlighted by catching and steaming crabs. The homeowners are super and were very helpful when we had car problems. We hope to return next summer for a longer stay.
My husband and myself and our 3 little furbabies visited this beautiful little place recently and absolutely loved it. The property itself is lovely and so well kept. We had plenty of room and everything we needed while we stayed there. I throughly enjoyed getting up every morning to go fishing with the water only being steps away from our cottage. My husband and I also loved sitting at the Tikki bar overlooking the fish pond and just taking in the sounds of nature. It was just what we needed. Sam and Mark are wonderful people and were there for us if we needed anything. It was great meeting them and talking with them and we feel very lucky to have gotten the opportunity to stay at their place.
Our family of seven traveled to Virginia for a family wedding. The Cottage at Jameslin was the perfect home base for us. Our children had a blast riding the golf cart, trying out the kayaks, and spending time in the hot tub. We have a large family and felt like we had plenty of room in the cottage. The cottage was clean and welcoming. Mark and Sam were super hosts and were available to answer any questions we had. I only wish we had more time to enjoy the grounds and take Mark up on his offer of clams and crabs. The cottage is close to restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, as well as all the local attractions. We were able to squeeze in a visit to Williamsburg around our busy wedding weekend. The Cottage at Jameslin is a beautiful location, off the beaten path, with spectacular water views. Thanks again for the wonderful stay!!
We stayed a whole week at the Jameslin Cottage. It was a very cozy cottage. My grandchildren 8 and 9 had an awesome time riding the golf cart, enjoying the hot tub and just playing outside. We visited Norfolk and went to the Naticus Museum and toured the retired USS Wisconsin. We went to VA beach, First Landing Park, Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. We ate out a lot. The restaurant we enjoyed the most was Food for Thought. The kids enjoyed catching crabs off the dock at the cottage. The only thing that we would have liked better - is if the temperature had been 10-15 degrees higher. Had an awesome time!!!!!!!
