Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in St. Petersburg

This is a very cute two bedroom one bath cottage, with a kitchen and small dining area and living room. It has a small bonus room with a fold out sofa. It is located in a very conspicuous spot, but it is centrally located to beaches, downtown St. Pete, aquariums, museums, the Grand Prix, and so much more. It is not the Taj Mahal, but when you want to go on vacation and not spend 3-400 a night for a hotel room to only pay a pretty penny for food, this is a nice option. Rent a small home with all the comforts of home but cook your own meals and save a little dough.

My Husband and myself have been together for almost 17 years this coming October. he is from Mexico and I am Puerto Rican, strange I know since most people think our two ethnicities despise each other but here we are. We have always worked very hard to have the small things we do have and have always tried to instill that in our four children. In all of our trials and tribulations we came upon this house through someone we knew and purchased it from him. In looking at the house now, it may still seem that it is not a big difference or how could you have spent that much money on renovations on it and still have so much that I still want to do? But it is a far cry from when we got it (trust me I have all the pictures to prove it, lol)! We both would love to meet new and interesting people and would love to travel around the world, but with my Husbands work schedule it is almost impossible. It occurred to me to see if we could do something that was not so taxing on his body and also could help us in our journey to try and get to actually have some fun in our lives. Since we had a horrific experience out the gate with renting to our very first renter, I told my husband I would never do that again and I had an idea about letting others rent the house out on a vacation type of basis and see how that worked out for us. Well we just went live with putting the cottage on the internet and are very anxious and nervous about this experience but hopefully we can have him stop working so much one of these years and actually go do something fun with our children before they all leave the nest, at least that is the goal.

What makes this cottage unique

The things that I enjoy the most about this home and I am still discovering, are all of the things that are around the vicinity of the home. Maybe aesthetically it is not what I would like it to look like and maybe it is not in the best location since it is on a main road and next to a gas station, lol. But it is so close to many different things that you can go see and experience for example: Beaches, Museums, golf club, airports. I can go on and on but the point that I am trying to make is that it is very centrally located to everything!! With time we will get it to where we want it, and hopefully you will keep visiting and experience the changes yourself, but I think this house would be perfect for people trying to stay in a budget and still have a great time on their vacation. I am not going to be too particular with how many people can stay at the house since it is a 2 bedroom and has a small extra room w/o a closet that 2 other people can sleep making it comfortably a 6 person cottage, but I know sometimes personally speaking, when we have gone to places they make a big fuss about how many people are in your party and if there are more people than there are beds then they usually will not let you rent it out. So I am not saying 20 can sleep in the cottage but some folks love to travel with friends, like we do and if they can sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag have at it!! LOL. There is just the fee for each extra person to keep in mind.

Great home away from home....

  • 5 of 5

From looking at the pictures provided on the website, I knew that it was going to be a nice place to stay. But once we arrived and entered the home, we were totally impressed. EVERYTHING was up to date and decorated very tastefully. Each room has its own personality. Warm and inviting. I spoke with the owner a couple of times during my stay. She made sure that all was going well. As it was. My family and I settled in very quickly. It really was like our home away from home. The house is centrally located so you will.have access to everything. Restaurants, shopping, the beach, museums, and so much more. I plan on going back to St. Petersburg every two months. And I plan on renting this house REVERY time that I return.

Excellent option

The property was exceptionally clean. The space was well decorated and felt very homely. The busy block location was not ideal, but the proximity to everything was perfect! It was precisely what I needed. Thanks!

I live in Curtis, MI which is in northern Michigan or the U.P. on a lake.

Reasonable accomodations...

  • 3 of 5

I stayed at this home for three months. It was reasonable, acceptable, and centrally located and easy to get to and from anywhere in St. Petersburg and the surrounding area. While there I made and paid for a few improvements myself that I wanted, i.e. an extendable shower hose and head, extra keys for the inner back door, brighter lights in the living room. I also purchased a small two slice toaster, a DVD player, and new sheets for the two beds, a pancake griddle and a few miscellaneous kitchen utensils that I took with me. The house does have an alarm system that I did not use. The front door sticks whenever it rains or gets very humid and needs some work. There was also a leak in the front bedroom closet when it rained, so the roof needs some work. The bathroom sink seemed to plug up easily and could probably use a good cleaning out, as we cleaned it out as best we could twice while we were there, and it was not easy to do. The heating and cooling system worked fine. The biggest drawback for my wife and I was the outside noise as it is located next to an all night gas station and on a very busy street and would not get quiet until well after midnite. One of the best features was the washer and dryer in the garage which worked fine after my brother ordered and installed a switch on the dryer door that had gone bad. Initially I had a problem with the refrigerator and the freezer icing up, but the owners quickly took care of that by bringing in two replacement refrigerators so I had one in the garage as well as the one in the kitchen, which was very handy. In talking with one of the neighbors, he told me that the owners really did a lot to upgrade the place as it had been in pretty bad shape and used to be a crack house. The owners are very friendly and helpful people and were concerned that I was happy and comfortable there, and I was. Aside from the street noise factor and the neighborhood, I would probably stay there again, but I did not feel comfortable walking around that neighborhood with my wife. The home has to be approached via an alley that depending on the time of day and the traffic was at times hard to get to, but that was relatively minor as it was the same with the other houses in that area. All in all it was an acceptable vacation rental.

This cottage might not be the most beautiful and biggest home on this site but you can bring your family and have a great time and you are literally 15 minutes away from everything. Madeira Beach is only 9.01 miles from us, Redington Shores is only 15 minutes away, Treasure Island is also only 15 minutes away, The Salvador Dali Museums is only 4.90 miles away, the pier, Fort De Soto is only 17 miles away (in 2005 named the nations number #1 beach, it was also named America's top beach in 2009) this park is 1136 acres of interconnected islands and really worthwhile to go see. You also have the grocery store is down the road, the fast food places are close by (pick one they are all there), there is a great little Italian place that opened up just walking distance away from the cottage, there is a golf course near by. I have taken the liberty of printing out different places such as some of the ones I have named above and printed out directions and the addresses so you can take advantage of everything and anything you can while you are here. My Husband and myself would love for you to stay with us!
