Epic Vacation Spot
This home is outstanding, and the location could not be better! The pictures do not do it justice - the view is stunning and the house is gorgeous (so much natural light) and sooooo comfortable. The location is a 20 second walk to a magnificent beach – one could not ask for more. Our hosts were nothing short of incredible hosts. They helped us with everything we needed. There was so much to do (boat trip, walking the beach, watching the sunset over the ocean, relaxing on the porch etc.) I can’t say enough good things about our stay. We highly, highly recommend this place. We will back!

Canceled at the last minute
We were really disappointed when the day we were planning to arrive at this property we received a notification saying our reservation had been canceled. This was a disappointing way to begin a vacation.

Secluded Beauty
We enjoyed our mostly private beach for the long weekend. The easy beach access makes the drive to this secluded area all worth it.

Perfect beach retreat! And the most friendly, welcoming staff. A real hidden gem!
Playa Tesoro is a perfect getaway destination. Fresh food, a private beach, great rum, and the most welcoming people. Thanks for the amazing memories!

Enjoyable and secluded
Great location and setting. It is a bit secluded which can be good or not, depending on what you are looking for. The miles of beaches are shared with almost nobody, and the ocean is friendly for adults and kids to swim, surf, boogey board, etc.. Not a lot of services nearby, but if you come prepared not an issue at all. Leon is close enough to make day trips but ideally you remain on the property to take advantage of the location.

About the host

Host profile image
Outdoor oriented brothers whom set off in 2004 to find a good surf break on a quality beach to build a nice surf shack. And thus avoid the North America January cold. After a furious search, we settled at this beach in Nicaragua and named it Playa Tesoro. After 14 years work, we have a best in country, fully private fresh water system. And an electrical system that works well with private ownership of all the equipment. In Canada, we have over 32 years as business partners in construction.

Why they chose this property

Playa Tesoro is a great swimming beach with warm, shallow, salty water. There is 2 miles of sandy beach to yourself. You can enjoy a peaceful, beautiful boat tour on the estuary or sleep in a hammock on your terrace while listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

Nicaragua is a great country full of wonderful people and is a peaceful, secure, beautiful country. The Colonial City of Leon is considered the university town of Nicaragua and has 11 universities, many language schools, as well as a good, strong music and arts community. Also, it is the second oldest town in all the Americas behind Panama city, so there is amazing architecture. The people are warm, peaceful and kind. In summary, Leon is a safe, intelligent, artistic, friendly community that is welcoming and interesting. Leon state and area has a vast array of intriguing places to visit and enjoy on day trips as well.

What makes this property unique

Even in Nicaragua, this property is unique because it is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and a fresh water estuary in the back. Playa Tesoro is the ultimate swimming beach as it offers sand, gentle waves and warm water and yet, one can also surf off the break at the end of the island. The estuary is pristine and offers an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in nature. The mangroves are beautiful, the water is tranquil and nature is abundant. Although, you will feel that you have landed in a private, beachfront community, there is the convenience that the Colonial City of Leon, the second largest city in Nicaragua, is a mere 45 minutes away. As well, there is a small tienda on the island and a grocer on the Salinas Grandes road to Playa Tesoro.
