Tripp Lake is a beautiful and quiet lake with no public access. We have great fishing right off the dock and a nice place to swim. Canoes and Kayak for use. We have a boat launch if you want to bring your own boat. Relaxing hammock with a lake view. Sandy beach and play area for kids. Some sand toys available. Fish house for filleting fish. Loons and eagles easily spotted.
The cabin and bunkhouse are located just off shore in a beautiful Northern and White Pine wooded area. The main cabin has a full kitchen, full bath, 2 bedrooms with 5 single beds, living room with a couple couches, dining room and breakfast bar, a beautiful eat-in porch with large windows/screens surrounding it and providing a great view of lake and bonfire pit, a deck off the front and side.
The bunkhouse is large and includes 3 single beds and 2 smaller beds. A great extra spot that we use for older kids to bunk together or for a whole separate family. Includes electricity.
The property is 7 acres so you can walk along the shore and find a stream at the end. You can also walk along the road and play in the beginning of that stream to catch minnows etc. This is a popular place to fish since the water is moving from Mudd Lake to Tripp Lake.
There is also a cleared area for badminton, or for kids to play wiffle ball, toss a football etc.
Just 10 miles away is the town of Dorset Minnesota. The decor of "The Restaurant Capital of the World" is small-town friendly, streets are lined with boardwalks, casual porch swings and flower baskets. Another great spot to visit is Itasca State Park where the mouth of the Mississippi is located.
We are a family of 6 and we live in the cities. I grew up in Woodbury and my husband grew up on a farm in Pine River, only 20 miles from this cabin. So when we go up, he is also able to see his parents.
My Mom bought this cabin 15 years ago and all her grandkids have grown up going there. She decided to sell because it was too lonely for her as a widow. We purchased from her about 8 years ago so we could continue the family fun and outdoorsy living that it provides for us.
I LOVE seeing my kids and their cousins outside exploring, playing, catching a lot of fish, building fires etc. I LOVE eating in the porch looking at the beautiful lake. I enjoy playing board games at night in the porch while the little kids sleep in the quiet cabin. One of the first things I do is walk to both ends of the stream to make sure it's flowing and let the kids catch minnows. I love moving water. I enjoy going into the towns for a diversion of ice cream or pizza.
The men would say they love fishing from the shore. They love walking down the shore in the water and fishing. They love taking the boat or canoe out fishing. And more fishing!
The kids would say they love playing outdoor games like capture the flag and wave at dusk. They love going to Itasca State Forest. They love catching fish with their dads. They love s'mores every night.
Our family enjoyed the peaceful lake and small sandy beach for the children. Fishing was good off the dock and from the canoes. Everyone enjoyed kayaking as well.
The cabin was clean and was well stocked with all of the cooking items we needed.
The downfall was only 1 bathroom for our group of 9.
Overall we loved being in northern Minnesota, the beautiful pines, peaceful lake and family time together!
We stayed here with 3 children aged 3-15. We really enjoyed our time here. During the week, we had the lake to ourselves. Even on the weekend, no more than 2 boats were out. You can canoe around the whole lake. There is excellent fishing for small panfish and bass off the dock. The swimming beach is perfect for kids with a gradual, sandy drop off. If you're bringing a boat bigger than 16.5 ft, the landing is too narrow to launch, but we found several public launches on the crow wing lakes and Belle Taine, long Lake and Potato Lake that are all less than 30 mn away. Overall, a very clean , very private, and comfortable place to stay.
Nice, clean cabin by a private lake. Not a lot of extra boat traffic. Great for canoeing or kayaking around the lake. Fishing was a bit slow during our stay, but more likely to do with the time of year. Lots of things to do/see in the local area.
Me and my family loved our stay the fishing was great we had a blast very privet. I would recommend it to any one I've told all my friends about it . It's only 45 minutes from the head waters of the Mississippi river.
It was a great place with a great lake for panfish and bass. We loved our stay and cant wait to do it again. It was nice to find a place that would let you rent it for less then a week, we looked and they were hard to come by. Never met the owner but seemed really nice on the phone.
