Charming 1880s 2,700 sq foot townhome on Upper East Side of Manhattan with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths available for your family or group vacation. Backyard, roof deck, gourmet kitchen, tin cielings, wide plank wood floors and jacuzzi tub sleeping up to 10 PEOPLE within 2.5 blocks of Central Park and a mile of Metropolitan Musuem and most major museums. Close to many great restaurants and 20 mins to Lincoln Center! Come enjoy NY at its best without the downside of limited space!
This is our well cared for family home. We are working out of California for a while and are looking for a family or group of good friends to enjoy the Big Apple and our space as we do (No parties or large, loud groups allowed.) You will need to hand it back broom clean.
This is also our neighborhood of many years. Our family lives next door and we know all of the neighbors, all of whom are friendly. You will be left alone to enjoy New York but with many people around to provide tips or advice if needed.
The house is entirely at your disposal except for a secondary kitchen and some basement areas.
Came with our 4 adult children and 20 month old grandson. This house was ideal! Has a small yard in back which when it snowed we were able to build a snowman to enjoy. Easy access to subway ( less than 3 minute walk) close to Central Park, shopping and art museum. Owner was responsive and flexible with our schedule. Ben was amazing and so helpful with any needs we had. Only negative was musty smell in cellar where laundry is but would definitely not keep me from staying here again. Highly recommend this property if you want to enjoy NYC! Loved that we were in middle of a neighborhood, gave feel of being a true New Yorker while we were here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming townhome with its easy access to Central Park and the fun museums just a short walk away! The owner, Elisabeth, and her brother, Ben, were gracious, welcoming, and so attentive to our every need and request! We loved this lovely find and cannot wait to return for future NYC trips!
This lovely property made our NYC adventure feel like home! The key part of the experience was the exceptional warmth and welcoming attentiveness demonstrated by the owner, Elisabeth, and her brother, Ben! We felt like we were visiting friends, though we have never met either sibling before!
From the spacious accommodations to the easy access to Central Park, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! With all the hustle and bustle of NYC, it was so nice to come "home" to a place where we could each retreat to a quiet corner (and there are many in this residence) to re-charge for another day of NYC hyped-up stimulation!
When there was a very minor problem with a smoke detector battery, Ben attended to it right away. When we arrived in NYC, both Ben and Elisabeth checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We have stayed in many VRBOs and I have to say that, as owners and managers of a property, we have never previously had such amazing attention. It was truly lovely.
We love this place so much that we are hoping to return someday, hopefully sooner than later. But I suspect it will remain a popular listing on VRBO so we'll cross our fingers that it will be available the next time we head to the Big Apple.
Loved the location of this place. We were a group of 5 women and it worked out great having so many bedrooms and bathrooms. Ben was so helpful, even carried our bags up all the stairs. Great restaurants all around, Central Park walking distance, close to subway stations, etc. We loved it!
I agree with previous reviewer comments re: this property. In addition to those comments, I would add the following. The owner and her brother were both helpful and quick to answer any questions we asked them. With three floors of living space (4 bedrooms, 4 baths) you can easily relax after a day in the City. We enjoyed the small back yard, it was fun to sip wine and listen to all the birds in the neighborhood. The towels were luxurious and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. We only ate breakfast at the house so we didn't have a chance to cook dinner although there were grocery stores and street vendors with vegetables and other supplies readily available. The kitchen knife collection could have been sharper and the number of dish towels was limited (I didn't mention either of these items to the owner, forgot until writing this review). Elisabeth, the owner, was quick to respond to other items of need we requested during our stay at the house.
I would recommend My NY Bakery Café at the corner of Lexington and 100th, only two short blocks away. Pastries, coffee, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and large cookies all very delicious! Lexington Pizza Parlour on the corner of Lexington and 101st was superb! Our party of four enjoyed Sea Bass special, Cavetelli, Pizza and Manicotti, all left us wishing we had saved some for lunch the next day. We split Tiramisu and NY Cheesecake for dessert, both rich and tasty, can you tell I have a sweet tooth? We also enjoyed dinner at El Paso Taqueria at 1643 Lexington, a step above your average Mexican food. Farther from home, we had a great dinner at The Milton, 1754 2nd Avenue, about a mile walk. Good Pub food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff.
We walked to Central Park, only a few blocks from the house. We took the subway from 103rd and 96th St; both stations were easy to walk to, two blocks and five blocks respectively. We came home many of our six nights late from the sightseeing or the US Open and felt safe walking in the neighborhood.
Although I've only visited NYC one other time nine years ago when I stayed in a boutique hotel near Times Square I would venture to guess this property is a real find. I would encourage you to try it out.
Before we even landed in New York Elisabeth had made us feel welcome into her home. Any queries we had were answered without delay. From outside the front door, we were welcomed by Ben. Apart from the lengthy delay in being able to "check in" due to the earlier people leaving the home late (which we were given a couple bottles of wine to compensation) we had a fantastic time at the property. The house is homely and large. We were a party of 8 and every bedroom had its own airconditioning (which we needed due to the heat we had the week we stayed in August 2016). Ben explained everything to us in detail and was always ready with any answers we needed during our week stay. The property is centrally located with the subway two blocks away, central park a few blocks away, restaurants, bars, shops and grocery market all within walking distance. The Italian restaurant on the corner was fabulous. The bedrooms are large with two bedrooms each have their own ensuite. The other two bedrooms shared a bathroom located on the same floor. There is even a shower and toilet on the first (ground) floor. The backyard was inviting and there is a bbq. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and next time we are in New York we will be staying here again. We will also be recommending to anyone we come across who will be travelling to New York to stay here. Thank you again Elisabeth and Ben for your hospitality.
