Many Native Americans believed the bear's long sleep brought visions of truth and healing. The Bear has come to symbolize a great source of wisdom through relaxation, looking inward, and giving attention to one's dreams. After their time of rest, bears emerge with a new strength and vigor for life, much like the growing earth itself. At Bear Garden Retreat you can enjoy relaxation as a source of healing and renewal. We hope this retreat with it's impressive views leaves you feeling restored and revived.

As an artist, the mountains have provided a great amount of creativity. Bear Garden features many of my own original artwork. Aesthetics are important to me and provide a relaxing environment.
Cooking is one of my favorite things to do for my family and friends. I've stocked Bear Gardens kitchen with two full sets of China. Reed and Barton flatware. Plenty of Crystal glassware, pots, pans and utencils. Everything you need to set a beautiful table and cook a memorable meal.

We had a great time. Two small kids and a dog and it fit our needs perfectly. Great modern conveniences while being out in the woods and removed from it all. Would highly recommend.
Very nice cabin, high end furnishings and very clean😀Its only 1/2 mile from the Cacapon Lake and the convenience store which is great if you have kids😀Our grandkids loved the hot tub and game room with the bedroom and full bathroom and the adults liked the idea of having the upstairs to themselves.. We will definitely visit again:-)
Great cabin with all of the comforts of home!! It was clean, quiet, and convenient to town and the nearby park.
Cabin had everything you want to make a great stay. Place was spotless and had the quality that made it very comfortable. From the king bed to the silverware to the furniture, all quality and above expectations. Well maintained hot tub plus the screened in porch are a bonus. Cabin has plenty of room and blends in perfectly with the treed surroundings.
Location is good as cabin is in a quiet area. Cacapon State Park is 5 minutes away and has great hiking among many other things to do. Town of Winchester, VA which is only about 35 minutes away has a great history plus the Shenandoah Valley Museum and Gardens which were really interesting.
Karen handled everything really well and everything went very smoothly. Highly recommend!
We had a great weekend over Memorial Day! Karen was above and beyond accommodating (even going so far as to walk our dog when we were gone for more than 4 hours!) and the house is outfitted with lots of niceties (appliances, dishes and silverware, hot tub) that make you feel like you are really being treated well. Beds are comfy and the house is roomy (screened porch was great for meals) and it was safe and easy to walk the dog! The only down side was the proximity to the neighbors. It is not a private retreat unless you are indoors, and when you are, it feels secluded and intimate. But there is not much property outdoors.
Bear Garden was absolutely amazing. It was just what we needed for our little girl's weekend away from it all. The house is beautiful & tastefully decorated with just the right amount of bear & country accents. It was also very clean & had a well stocked kitchen. The new appliances were amazing & a great addition. The hot tub was fantastic & the outdoor sitting area was perfect & screened in (very important, I'm sure, in the summer). It was truly a wonderful weekend & we are looking forward to returning/recommending in the future.
