I must say our 10 days was wonderful. The manager Miguel met us with a welcome pack of essential food for a few days.
We were amazed at the vast amount of space inside the villa with 4 large bedrooms most of them ensuite. It has a very clean & welcoming atmosphere with many facilities you find at home. There is a fabulous swimming pool & outside seating areas.
We soon found the walk into Iznajar got easier as the time went on. Just take plenty of water.
We loved the different views of the lake. Which we wouldn't have seen if we had hired a car, but a visit to Córdoba is a must.
The surrounding area around the lake was very picturesque so don't forget your camera. Especially for the sunsets over the lake.
There was plenty of shops for everyday food if needed. But the food, tapas and wine in the bars was enough to sustain you for the walk home.
For evening drinks & good food the beach bar was a very pleasant change.
We met Spanish friends of the owners who welcomed us into their home which was lovely.
A holiday to remember & hopefully return.
We were a party of 7. Four adults and three teenagers. The size of the villa and facilites suited us very well. We all enjoyed the large area by the good sized pool, with its kitchen dining area together with toilet/shower facilities. There is also a washing machine in a utility room on same floor. Spent quite a few great times dining outside and using the BBQ. In the evening after visiting some good restaurants/tapas bars we would end up on the top terrace, drinking, playing cards and some friendly arguing on politics etc!!! The balcony areas provide great sitting out areas for eating and lounging, in the day for getting out of the heat and entertaining at night. The views from all aspects are fantastic. The lake and beach area are so near and we hired canoes and pedaloes at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately the nearest restaurant at the entrance to the beach is closed for refurbishment, but the beach restaurant by the campsite is very good. Kate the owner was prompt in replying to us when we had any queries and the local manager Miguel was very helpful and took the men on a quick tour of Iznajar pointing out places of interest and recommending restaurants which we then all tried out.
You will need hire of a car to visit these in town. Would also recommend visiting Cordoba and Rute. We used a company called Helle Holis who provided a very good car rental service and no hidden extras.
We used a supermarket in Rute called Mercadona (it has an underground car park). Well stocked supermarket and friendly staff. We found a small local bar close to the supermarket called Cerveceria Vickyla. Good service, helpful barman and we enjoyed the food. It is next to a butchers and cake shop. All in all a very relaxing good time.
Our family of 6 (3 teens plus grandmother) spent a very happy 2 weeks in this beautiful villa. It is extremely well-equipped with everything you might need. There are 4 large and comfortable bedrooms and a very practical kitchen. As the weather was so good, we didn't use the lounge or dining room, although both were excellent. Several balcony areas provided great sitting out areas for eating and lounging, both day and night. The pool was beautifully cool and large enough for both proper swimming and lots of horsing around. The pool has several shaded areas for sitting and relaxing which were very welcome. Everyone enjoyed splashing around, from children to grandmother! The property is extremely clean and well maintained, and the view is second to none. Watching the moon over the lake with a glass of wine was a perfect end to each lovely day. We even witnessed an amazing meteor shower. The owners were very helpful and informative and the local manager, Miguel, is very helpful and great fun. He was able to give us lots of good advice for activities, both local and further afield. There are many great tapas bars in the town and a barbecue around the pool was also a popular option. Miguel and Encarna are available to cook typical regional meals and we thoroughly recommend using this service. Everything was delicious. All in all, this is a great villa and fabulous setting, the location provides lots to see and do and also a great base to venture further into Andalusia.
we had an amazing time the villa is just perfect in every way and in a beautiful spot!! We have already booked our next stay and cannot wait it is definitely five star! Paradise without a doubt we love it !!
Photo images do not give this property justice. It has to be seen. It has all the facilities furnishing and appliances needed. The wifi is a great addition. The pool area has sunshine and shade and is kept clean, excellent for children It is a beautiful Spanish villa set in equally stunning surrounding area. The views from the property over the lake are breath taking.
The beach bar, 2 mins away and located on the lake, sold good food and drinks.
The local town of Iznajar, 20 minute stroll away, is a beautiful traditional Spanish town and the locals are extremely friendly and very willing. The foods and wines etc available are excellent.
We also enjoyed the journeys out in to local towns and cities. Granada, Cordaba, Lucena to name a few.
The bar "Las Claveles" is a must for the food and wine.
Summary. Property excellent. Local facilities and persons excellent. Brilliant holiday. We have booked again. 5 stars
We had a great stay in the villa, The villa is very well equipped, very clean and immacualetly kept. The location of the villa is great - just a short walk to the lake, the playground and bar.
We were there with our twin girls of two and really appreciated the toys, buggys, pool etc provided.
The local manager - Miguel - was really lovely and ensured that all was perfect and keeps the villa to an excellent standard.
We'll defintely consider coming back.
Accessible via two bridges, Iznajar is is almost entirely surrounded by the Lake of Andalucia, a reservoir stretching out for over 20 miles which offers world-class fishing, water sports and a beautifully clean beach. The water in the lake is warm in the summer months and wonderful for swimming. The area is surrounded by an abundance of interesting and historical villages and towns and Iznajar itself boasts one of the oldest Moorish Castles in the region as well as ancient churches and an historic library.
To eat out in the area you are spoiled for choice as Iznajar and the surrounding area has a wealth of traditional tapas bars and restaurants. The prime location of Villa Almendras directly on the lake of Iznajar, whilst still close to the amenities of the Pueblo Blanco of Iznajar makes it an ideal place to spend your holidays.
