You won't want to leave this newer, fully-renovated beach cottage! Immaculate, fresh, clean, and uncluttered; fully renovated in 2010! Just 2/10 of a mile to the beach in Vilano Beach, St. Augustine.
Located on a quiet, low-traffic street, this beach house comfortably accomodates eight, with four bedrooms and two full baths. You will wake up refreshed and invigorated after sleeping on any one of the super-comfy memory foam mattresses.
O'Cottage by the Sea is the ideal place to marry a beach vacation with sight-seeing, relaxing, fine dining, and world-class golf!
Our home is just one block to the sand (with no busy road to cross), a 5-minute-drive to historic St. Augustine, the oldest city in America, and a 25-minute-drive along traffic-free, scenic A1A to Ponte Vedra Beach, home of the Players' Club Championship (TPC) and AAA five diamond rated Ponte Vedra Inn and Club (think spa, ladies, and golf, gentlemen).
You can also walk to the Vilano Fishing Pier, where you can rent a boat at Bay Ray Boat Rentals or pick up a pizza or Chinese in the Town Center.
There is a convenience store within walking distance, too! A brand-new, full-service Publix grocery store is two blocks from the house--even closer than the convenience store!
We are a smoke-free and pet-free home.
My husband and I purchased and renovated this home to use for our retirement in years to come. We also liked the thought of having a place to go on weekends with our kids.
Anastasia OConnor purchased this house in 2000
Vilano Beach is a special area, with the beach on one side and the bay on the other. We love that you can walk to restaurants and shops! Vehicular traffic is pretty minimal and it is quiet and peaceful. While the bustling activities of historic St. Augustine are just a five-minute drive from the house, they seem a world away!
Totally renovated home! The beds are so comfortable. O'Cottage by the Sea is bright, uncluttered, cheerful, and welcoming.
Thank you so much for providing such a lovely home for our family vacation! The house is beautiful and the beds are amazing! We have loved the closeness to the beach as well as to St. Augustine and Jacksonville. From the youngest at eight months old to the the oldest at 68, we have all loved our stay! Mt five-year-old especially loved the big bean bag chairs. Thank you! The Dixon Family
This home was clean and spacious...though definitely lacking basic amenities such as toilet paper, paper towels, and the very basics in the kitchen. We had to go to Publix within 30 minutes of our arrival.
When I texted the owner to ask to extend our checkout time until 2pm, her response was "Check out is at 10, just like a hotel. My housekeeper will be there shortly after 10." If I had been in a hotel, they would have accommodated. AND, they would not have asked me to "empty all garbage into outside receptacles, place containers at curb" and "clean refrigerator". Also, "put 1st load of sheets into washer." And the housekeeper is coming immediately.
Lovely home, but disappointing Customer Service.
I chose this home primarily from reviews and I was not disappointed. The house was as neat as a pin, clean and uncluttered, and well decorated. I am from Jacksonville and familiar with the gem that is Vilano Beach. The house and its location did not disappoint.
Great time at the beach and in St. Aug. The house is great with plenty of room to relax. Check-in was easy and also easy to reach the owner prior to booking and before check-in. Can't wait to come back to this great escape
Good owner communication. Easy check in. Well furnished home.
Lacking some kitchen towels and a few basics, like TP.
It was roomy and comfortable and served our purpose.
Extremely convenient to beach and shops.
We had a wonderful experience at this home! The house was very clean and comfortable. We felt at home here. We walked to the beach every morning and evening. We also walked to Publix, the Vilano Pier and found a nature walk that went under the bridge. There was also some restaurants within walking distance. We tried one of the restaurants, 180 Grill, we had good food and was reasonably priced.
O'Cottage by the Sea was a great get away for my daughter, myself and three others. We went to St Augustine as a bridal getaway and the location of the cottage was perfect. We were able to get to downtown in little or no time. It was a busy weekend in St Augustine with a Seafood Festival going on. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived, and Anastasia was so helpful all through out the process of booking and arriving and departing. I highly recommend this house as a getaway. Thank you for opening your home.

Vilano Beach is located at the intersection of the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Augustine Inlet. Drive your car on the beach ($3 per day collected Memorial Day - Labor Day) or walk on for free and watch shrimpers, pleasure craft, and dolphins on the water! Vilano Beach is a skim-boarder's paradise! Fish off the Vilano Beach pier or at the ocean's edge.
Tired of the beach? Drive (or walk!) over the Ursina Bridge into St. Augustine to enjoy favorite tourist attractions including, Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum, the Fountain of Youth, and the Castillo de San Marcos; shopping and dining along St. George Street; tours on the Old Town Trolley. Walk through Flagler College's campus, where parts of "Animal House" were filmed. Rent a scooter and zip down the cobblestone streets and admire the architecture.
Drive a little further to visit the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and the St. Augustine Lighthouse (two of my favorites!). Have lunch or dinner at the nearby Conch House and sit in a "nest" overlooking the water (be sure to try the calamari with banana peppers) or, if you are patient, wait for a table at O'Steen's for a seafood dinner.
Hop in the car and enjoy a quick and easy drive on A1A along the coast to Ponte Vedra Beach, where you can shop and dine, or enjoy the spa and golf at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club or Sawgrass. If you need more golf, check out World Golf Village ("where golf is king"), about 15 miles away; you can also catch a 3-D IMAX movie and visit the World Golf Village Hall of Fame.
Not one, but TWO, outlet malls are a 20-minute drive from our beach house. You'll find the JCrew, GAP, Aeropostale, Tommy Bahama, Nike, Bose, and Coach stores (among others) at the Premium Outlets and Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke, Lucky, Off 5th, Gucci, Cold Water Creek, BCBG at the Prime Outlets.
