About Timothy Light

We enjoy the beauty of Montana lakes from our kayaks, and the outdoors of hiking Forest Service and Park Service trails. We travel when we can, usually in the winter, but enjoy the snow with skis and snowshoes. Our home reflects our interests with simple comfort and great views.

Timothy Light purchased this cottage in 1998

What makes this cottage unique

The very private driveway can be a challenge with snow in the winter but we never tire of the view of the lake and the mountains as it changes daily, even hourly, with the sun and clouds. Morning beverage in front of the window gets my day going. And after a hard day at work, there is nothing better then coming home to the quiet of the house with the smells of the pine woods and the fresh mountain air.

Lovely home with a lovely view

  • 5 of 5

Perfect cabin with an terrific view! Loved waking up to glorious sunrises and views of the Swan range and Flathead lake. Great central location for skiing both mountains and visiting Kalispell, Big Fork, and Whitefish. Nice cabin with all of the amenities. Warning, when coming in the winter months one needs to have snow tires to get up the hill. The drive is well maintained, however it is steep with sharp switch backs that can get icy; 4-wheel drive alone won't do it. Great stay and would highly recommend. Thanks Tim!!

House has a lot of charm and is quite comfortable. Location of the property is perfect! House could use a bbq and a hide-a-bed pull out of some kind. Would definitely come and stay again.

Beautiful, Relaxing Location

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting family in the Kalispell area and Tim's cottage was the perfect location with easy access to everywhere, including Glacier National Park. The deck of the cabin was a perfect spot for catching the breezes and viewing the lake and mountains and completely private. Tim surprised us with a bottle of wine and a gift certificate to a local Somer's restaurant that had an excellent breakfast. The warm, comfortable cottage could not have been better! Thanks Tim and Eddie for sharing your lovely place!

Best trip we have had... Tims cottage was welcome reprieve from the crowded national parks. Best moonlight lake view ever and equally gracious for tims hospitality!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Tim's Cottage and immediately received emails that detailed what to expect upon arrival as well as directions for finding and entering the house. Everything went smoothly and the house was very cozy and spacious with interesting decor and artifacts. The deck overlooks a stunning view and we spent the majority of our time enjoying the lovely weather. It cooled down nicely at night even without the use of an AC. Somers is a beautiful little town that is located right between Big Fork and Kalispell, so the location of the cottage couldn't be better. We would definitely stay again!

Wonderful Homey Place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Tim's Cottage! It is a lovely older cabin that had ample space for us (family of 4). The bed in the master was nice and firm and the bed in the second bedroom is very soft (which my daughter loved). There was lots of space in each room. Although the kitchen is smaller it has everything you could need and worked great for our breakfasts and packing lunches. The deck is wonderful and we enjoyed many times just looking out over the lake and watching the deer go by. The driveway is quite steep at one point but if my minivan loaded with 4 bikes on the back hitch can make it up you will too!

The listing description was accurate and everything was really clean.

Some places you have to call to see if they still have the week open but they are using this site superbly and you just book right onsite. I would gladly recommend this place to anyone. Somers is a cute little town right on the shore of Flathead Lake not far from Lakeside. This cottage is right off the paved bike trail (which we rode every morning). There is a beach at the edge of Somers, basically along the Interstate, but it fills up fast. The entire shoreline is rocky so make sure you bring water shoes. Tim and Eddie generously gave us a gift certificate for a restaurant in Somers that was wonderful definitely eat there! And any other town follow the recommendations on TripAdvisor they were right every time! There is so much to see and do in the area, relax, explore and have fun!
