Really enjoyed the Crab Shack. Stayed here for the weekend of an FSU game. Real easy ride back and forth to Tallahassee. Cabin was great and very comfortable for our family of 5. Very quiet and relaxing and a short walk to the beach. The ping pong table was a HUGE hit and so much fun.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Crab Shack on St. Teresa Beach. It was just a short walk to the beach itself, and the water is still very warm in September. The whole area is calm, quiet, and beautiful.
The Crab Shack was great. Very nicely decorated, clean, well stocked kitchen, and nice linens. Very comfortable! Daughter loved the bunkbeds! Do not let not being directly on the beach sway your decision. You can see the water and the walk took a minute. I have stayed at places directly on the beach that may have taken longer to walk. Path is very clearly marked. All the neighbors are friendly. Great place for kids. Very little wave action, lots of sea life to explore--hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs and fish. We anchored our boat off the shore a bit so very convenient to go out for the day. This is the place to be if you are looking to relax and get away from it all. Its only a short drive to Apalachicola and St George Island if you want to go exploring for the day or get a bite to eat. I would highly recommend choosing the Crab Shack for you next beach visit:)
We had a great time at the crab shack! The kids especially loved the ping pong table.
We just got back from a long 4 day weekend at the crab shack and wish we had planned to stay longer! The house was lovely, clean, and stocked w everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. We went with a couple of friends and had 4 small children between the four of us and there was plenty of room w the extra bedroom downstairs and the bunk room for the kids. It was a perfect little spot for families w kids...there were some kids movies along w a few board games in the house to help keep them entertained, but more importantly, the beach is right across the street. We brought a wagon and carted all our beach chairs, toys and accessories down the first day we were there and since the beach was so quiet and secluded we just parked our stuff by a tree and left it for easier back and forth trips throughout our stay. I must say the beach is not the prettiest beach I have ever been to, there is some sea grass around and the water isnt that crystal clear blue you think of when you picture the panhandle. That being said, I would take this beach any day over the crowded tourist ridden beaches all along the FL coast. Everyone we met was local, it was quiet, the kids had a little more freedom to run and play, and it was so incredibly relaxing being able to go back and forth at our leisure. The surrounding area is pretty remote, a few fish shack restaurants but not much else to speak of. We brought a cooler full of groceries, picked up delicious fresh crawfish, flounder, and grouper from mineral springs seafood and just cooked at the house and spent the evening drinking wine and hanging out on the fantastic front porch. All in all, beat our expectations in every way. We are so glad we found this hidden little gem away from it all and next time will definitely plan on staying for longer!
Our family loved the Crab Shack! The home was cozy, clean and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the kids particularly loved the ping pong table and the porch bed swing. Thanks for a providing a great place for our family trip... we definitely plan to stay here again!
