Spanish moss drapes from hundred year old oaks surrounding a small three building condo complex located in a redeveloping area near Gaines Street and Doak Campbell Stadium. An eclectic mix of residents from business owners and artists to state employees and graduate students resides in the complex. The condos were built in the mid-1950’s and completely renovated in the past five years.
This upstairs unit features yellow pine floors throughout creating a warm and inviting space. Each of the two bedrooms have queen sized beds. The bathroom features a tile mosaic sink with custom wooden vanity and a walk-in shower. A small but modern eat-in kitchen is complete with a gas range and oversized sink. The comfortably appointed living room has a small flat-screen tv with cable.
This condo offers proximity to the stadium as well as local restaurants, breweries, and art galleries. Leave your vehicle in the parking lot and avoid sitting in game day traffic. From the condo to the stadium is less than three quarters of a mile walk. A path connects from the complex to the paved bike/walking trail at Lake Elberta Park, from there sidewalks on Lake Bradford take you directly to the stadium.
Mother-Daughter team owns/manages the property. Jerrie moved to Tallahassee in the 70's to attend FSU. Morgan was born and raised in Tallahassee and now resides about an hour away in south Georgia.
Morgan Keel purchased this condo in 2010
Jerrie purchased the condo as an investment and to make a shorter commute to downtown Tallahassee for work and events. This condo is a great location in town especially with the new and improved Gaines Street. Lake Elberta Park has a nice walking/biking track. The entire area has large oaks which create the feel of an oasis in the city.
This condo was very nice and clean. We were in town to see our son perform in a play at FSU and the location of the condo was perfect for that. The owner was a pleasure to work with and promptly refunded our security deposit after we returned home.
My husband, my parents, and myself stayed here for FSU graduation at the end of April. So this place was great functionally: two beds, one bath, appliances, everything you need. However, there's no central AC (not sure about heat). Both the bedrooms had a window unit and ceiling fans, but I still found the rooms to be stuffy. The main living area and kitchen were TOASTY upon arrival, and never quite got to a comfortable temperature with just the ceiling fan and floor fan. We did some cooking in the kitchen and it was borderline unbearable with the ambient temperature and cooktop going. Similar issue in the bathroom: very stuffy which made getting ready difficult. I guess this place is better suited for a fall/winter/low humidity visit rather than spring or summer. It's walkable to a bunch of shops and restaurants, stadium, and the civic center. There aren't a whole lot of street lights on the road though, and it's very close to a railroad crossing, so be advised when walking to or from. The train will stop on the tracks which are on the road, so it might block up for a bit. Beautiful location though. Some of the most gorgeous trees you'll ever see, cute lime tree, blackberry tree, sweet neighbor cats...very earthy place. Not sure if I'd stay again just because of the lack of AC, but there was nothing wrong with this place! If you just need a place to rest your head, it will certainly do!
We had an amazing time staying here, everything was perfect and we were made very comfortable. The manager/owner checked in with us several times to make sure everything was great ( nice touch).
Very close to the stadium, the actual complex is a little sketchy looking when you pull in but not be scared the unit itself is lovely.
We will return and look to stay here again next time.
We were looking for a place to stay during Parent Weekend that was both walking distance to the stadium and my son's dorm. We were very happy with the accommodations as well as the distance. The outside of the apartment complex needs some TLC, but that the inside makes up for it. I really enjoyed reading on the patio and watching a pair of Woodpeckers eat from the feeder. We would definitely stay again.
We stayed at this condo for 2 nights while visiting family and attending a football game. The area is quiet and very relaxing. The pictures are accurate and we didn't find a need for anything.
Our group had a great time at the condo. Morgan and Jerrie couldn't have been better hosts! The communication was quick and they made sure we had everything we needed for the weekend. The condo was close to the stadium which was perfect for the football game. The inside was clean and comfortable for our group of 4. We can't say enough good things about the condo and hosts; we hope we can stay for a game next year!
