Downtown Great Barrington is 5 minutes away and Butternut Ski resort is around the corner. Sleeps five. Pets considered.
I'm a chef that moved from the metropolitan area in 1996. I owned a B&B in Gt. Barrington for 10 years. Food is my passion and I would be glad to cook for you at dinner time with previous arrangements. I have been cooking professionally 26 years. First in NYC and then at Canyon Ranch until buying a B&B
Rachel O'Rourke purchased this cottage in 1998
The house is very centrally located and convenient to down town Great Barrington and everything it has to offer including some wonderful restaurants.
There are some wonderful hikes very near the cottage and Butternut Ski Resort which is directly across the street has a panoramic view of the hills.
My family and I had a wonderful time staying at this great house. Rachel was great to work with, the house had everything we needed, it was clean, warm and charming. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful 5 day holiday get away at this chic country cottage. Loved the chef's kitchen and cozy places to read, relax, listen to holiday music. Enjoyed a beautiful hike around Benedict Pond nearby! Would highly recommend this spot!
This is a charming cottage in a lovely section of the Berkshires. The area is beautiful and we were lucky enough to stay during the peak colors. Terrific food, interesting shops, convenient walking paths and you are surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. Rachel, the owner, went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable at her "little piece of heaven". Treat yourself to a pleasant visit during any season.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Carriage House. Rachel was lovely to deal with and very helpful in showing us the details of the house. The house is warm and comfortable. There were only two of us (and our dog), but would be perfect for a family of four. We didn't make use of the kitchen, but it seem to have everything you would need. We enjoyed relaxing in the yard with a nice bottle of wine from the vineyard down the road. There's an adorable outdoor fireplace area. The location is perfect - right in between Stockbridge and Great Barrington. We've rented several homes in the Berkshires in the past couple of years, this was definitely one of our favorites.
It's clear that this sweet cottage has been lovingly cared for. We spent a delightful and relaxing week here enjoying concerts, dance performances and theater. Rachael was very accommodating and had some good suggestions regarding restaurants and places to hike.
And you can't beat the location...just outside Great Barrington with easy access to the main roads.
We had a very relaxing week at the Berkshire Carriage House. It is nestled in the trees and we were delighted to find it cool and comfortable even without running the air conditioning, although the outdoor temperatures were brutal (mid 90's) during our stay. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was certainly a highlight. The balcony/workspace attached to the upstairs bedroom offered a unique way to communicate to the downstairs space ("can you throw down a pair of socks please"). We enjoyed sitting around the table on the patio and reading with a glass of wine, watching tv (the presidential conventions were running the week we were there) when we were inside, and hiking daily on the Appalachian Trail (it crosses Buel Rd. near the house). Rachel was very available and helpful.
