This property has been in our family for over 50 years. My grandparents bought it as a cottage and passed to my parents, who later winterized it making it a year round home. We've always called it "The Cottage". We lived in Buffalo but my siblings and I all grew up spending every summer here. My brother has owned it for several years and I was lucky enough to purchase it from him this past winter to keep it in the family! Its a very special place to make lifelong memories.
Connie Johnson purchased this cottage in 1958
The view, the yard, the dock, and the feel of a home. You won't feel like you're in a rental here. The neighbors are also lovely people.
The cottage was much more than we expected; clean, well stocked, appointed with pictures, etc... that were perfect, two brothers in the area who took care of any incident or question, a GREAT dock & fire pit and the best porch I have ever seen - three walls of sliding windows and a 6' sliding door, all with screens. Rent the cottage and expect to be amazed!
This was an ideal property in an ideal location. Furnished well and extremely comfortable. The property is only minutes from the Institute and Bemus Point. Even the Seneca Casino is only about 1/2 hour away. You can tell this is a special place to the owners by the meticulous care and detail--inside and out. DON'T think musty cottage...think upscale vacation home because that is what it is. I especially enjoyed fishing off the dock and reading in the enclosed porch overlooking the lake. Can't wait to return. Owner was excellent in communicating with us and I'm sure would have been available for any needs we had...but everything we needed was there and in great condition! We ate almost every meal in, because, WHY LEAVE??
This cottage was perfect for us! We had enrolled in a week at the Chautauqua Institution and couldn't get accommodation on the grounds. We were literally a 5 minute drive away. It was actually great to be off the grounds and because the cottage was so close we could take a mid day break away from our busy schedule. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and had every detailed covered. The only thing missing was a pie plate. Who bakes pies on holiday anyway! We hosted an outside BBQ for our elderly parents and the grounds were perfect for them to manage and it was lovely eating while viewing the beautiful lake. Super close to everything and I highly recommend for a family holiday, private boat docking right at the shore we will be sure to take advantage of next time. P.S. Connie was fantastic and speedy with all answers to our questions. THANKS Connie!
I recently stayed at this cottage and have to say that it truly feels like home. The minute you arrive, the "lake" settles into your bones and you become immersed in the beautiful nature surrounding this property. The condition of everything is impeccable and thoroughly looked after. Every amenity we needed was there and in excellent working order. The owner was very friendly and happy to share this beloved family home with us. The location on the lake is perfect for day trips to several places of interests, however you may just forget about everything else and just fall in love with spending most of your time just relaxing in your lakefront paradise.
This is a real home -- you can tell the owner really cares about making your vacation as relaxing as possible. We spent a week here last summer and everyone is looking forward to going back this summer. There's nothing more relaxing than watching the sunrise over the lake with a hot cup of coffee. The owner has been terrific to work with, and I can't recommend this delightful home highly enough. Enjoy your stay!
