About Judy K. Peabody
Owner Judy Peabody was born and raised on the Peabody family farm in Upstate New York. As an adult, she was privileged to enjoy many years living in the deep south before relocating to the east coast. A spontaneous family vacation brought Judy to the Shenandoah Valley. Her love for the Valley kept her coming back. Years later it became Judy's full-time home. Judy uses her love for reuse/recycle to convert her already lovely home into a relaxing oasis she has welcomed many. Often she has given out keys to share what she refers t as a gift. There is no doubt this home is uniquely blessed. As a multi-degreed professional in the D.C. area, Judy most previously worked in the insurance industry as an employer advocate. The travel on the east coast giving presentations to many offered the opportunity for Judy to meet many people and have wonderful experiences. This year when "blessed" with a layoff, Judy used her time and talents to put together this unique oasis to fulfill a dream she was encouraged to pursue for quite some time. Judy hopes many will get to visit Luray and enjoy her VA Green Travel Leader Award Winning 5-Star Rated B&B full of sunshine!
Judy K. Peabody purchased this House in 2014
Why Judy K. Peabody chose Luray
The path to this property for Judy was a smooth one blessed with many twists and turns. In 2012, having made the decision to find a temporary and part-time place in Luray to spend long weekends, Judy began the pursuit of a home. With a visit to "Shenandoah Moon" on Mother's Day set the pace. On this ladies' weekend the road to the East Main Street home was found. In 2014, upon prompting from the awesome owner (for whom without I would not be here today), Judy made the decision to buy this sunny oasis and closed July 1, 2014.
What makes this House unique
"Warm" and "inviting" is how it is described by others. From the instant you walk in, you will see the uniqueness of the environment and the views of the little town and it's mountains. I guarantee you will fall in love with this special home. Your SUITE is all yours! ALL of it! For as long as YOU want it! It will be all about YOU! You will not be bothered, except for a tasty breakfast brought to your door unless you buy up to one of our features or need assistance. I promise this will be a fun and relaxing experience to remember. The "lobby" features "The Unique Boutique" with artist and artisan finds from Maryland and Virginia not duplicated in the area. This came about to help budding entrepreneurs like myself get a start. Besides, don't you like a gift shop when you travel right in your lobby? Each artist and artisan has his or her own personality and gift sure to add personality as a gift to your life! While here choose to plant a perennial in "Peabody's Community Garden" so your plant can grow along with the spirit you have left when you choose to leave (if you can!). You are invited to decorate a rock from my original home "The Peabody Farm" in Upstate New York to accompany your plant. Fun!

Perfect spot for wedding rehearsal dinner and housing close friends
The Westcott House was the perfect place to host our wedding rehearsal dinner and to house a portion of our wedding party for the weekend. The house was immaculately clean and had all the accommodations necessary to house and entertain. The game room in the basement and fire pit were great spots for people to gather and mingle. Would highly recommend to those looking host events in the Luray area!
Great place for a getaway
One of the best anniversary getaways we have ever had! Very relaxing room with comfy seating areas. Lots of attention to details like abundant hooks and places to spread out your stuff, extra toiletries and towels (fluffy and fresh!) in the bath closet, battery operated night lights on the bed, in-room fridge, carafes of water and chilled glasses, convenient coffee and tea service, great double shower head with removable spray head, and lots of (wooden!) hangers. So many delights and treasures at this little place--impeccably clean, fun eclectic decorating touches, lovely garden spaces, within walking distance to all the downtown shops and restaurants, delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts (Judy went the extra mile to provide keto friendly breakfasts for my diabetic husband), and a light and airy suite. But the greatest treasure is Judy herself. Very warm, friendly, accommodating, passionate about hospitality, and a great cook! You will love Judy and her Hip Little Stay!
My heart is full from both the beautiful people and review. You both are a treasure. Thank you so much for choosing our oasis as yours for your special weekend. We sure are hopeful to see you one day again!
A restorative retreat, walking distance to downtown Luray
This was a wonderful weekend away for me. I was traveling alone for a restorative weekend, and it was great. Judy gave me a lot of recommendations for good things to do--the best nature trails to hike, where to get a good massage, the best places to eat in town, etc. Her recommendations were fabulous. It was easy for me to come-and-go, since the front door is locked by passcode; I had a key to my private room, which was beautiful. Judy's breakfasts were amazing too. It's very easy to feel pampered at her "Hip Little Stay." I would definitely go back, either alone or with my husband, for a long weekend. Highly recommended!
Lori, I just KNEW you would feel rejuvenated after a weekend at the oasis in beautiful Luray! It was wonderful to see the transformation and it makes us smile to know how much you enjoyed your time here. I really appreciate the time you took to do the thoughtful review and it gives me confirmation that I need to know I was able to give you what you needed! It will be a blessing when we get to see you alone or with your loving husband. Thank you again for choosing us as your hosts!
Judy and Dorothy were so welcoming and made us feel so at home!
The cutest little B&B with the sweetest hosts! Farm to table breakfast was healthy and delicious as well as beautiful to boast! We had the best stay and a truly relaxing weekend! We can’t wait to come back in the future!
Thank you so much for the uplifting happy review!!!!! We loved hosting you and can’t wait to see you again!!! Hugs!
Quaint, friendly, personal, great food. We felt like family! Judy and Dorothy were terrific.
They were interested in us and made our 17-year old daughter so welcome too. The suite was eclectic-ally decorated and cheerful. We wanted for nothing! The homemade breakfasts were thoughtfully and beautifully prepared and presented, so good too! Each morning we were pleasantly surprised at what Judy made for us. Judy told us interesting and FUNNY stories of the history of the house, the town and their own New York family history. They have some family pieces in the home, including her Dad's paddle and ice fishing basket, so he is part of their home too. Katie the rescue dog was another way Judy and Dorothy show their kind approach to life, and our daughter particularly loved the dog. We visited for a family wedding and a break from our hectic home life, and stayed 6 days at Peabody's, and it was truly the relaxing home-away-from home we needed. Thanks so much, Judy and Dorothy! Wishing you so much prosperity and joy as you expand and have more and more lucky guests.
Joy, anytime a guest takes their valuable time to review Peabody’s, it is a time for us to learn about their experiences and how we can improve. We also learn if we are providing the experience we intend! By reading your outstanding review, we have learned that the three of you received the experience we hope for. How wonderful and we are grateful. Love to your family and we hope you come and see us again, and get to enjoy all the new goodies!!!!! Hugs!
We loved every second of our little stay! The amazing breakfast was the best part :)
Thank you so much for your both choosing to stay with us and the sweet review! We really enjoyed meeting you both and hope to see you again!
Up to 5 guests should they be able to leave this 'Hip Little Stay' can walk to all monuments, stores, restaurants, galleries, the Saturday Farmer's Market (9-1 seasonal), outdoor and indoor music, a wonderful movie theater, two live performance centers, beautiful parks, the Singing Tower and finally the Hawksbill Greenway.
Within a short drive are many venues including the zoo, caverns, wineries, golf, hiking, horseback riding, zip lining and much, much more!
My favorite activity in the summer is kayaking the Shenandoah. There are a variety of outfitters to meet this need or bring your own canoe or kayak!
For every season there is an activity suitable for you and your family. From an indoor water park to underground caverns to high top mountain views we are lucky enough to have it all and want to share it!
