It has one bedroom with a queen size bed, incredible views, amazing natural light, and fantastic windows throughout the cabin. You truly get the feeling you are sleeping in the woods. The quaint L-shaped living and dining area is furnished with craftsman style decor. It has a full kitchen, complete with stove, microwave, refrigerator & coffee maker. The bathroom has a shower with a standard size jetted tub. Outside is a large deck. The west end of the deck overlooks Lake Lucerne, while the large deck area on the East side features a table and chairs next to a large charcoal grill. You will find that there are many attractions and excellent dining options in Eureka Springs. This cabin is only 5 minutes from downtown Eureka Springs.

Enjoy peaceful walks around the lake. Fishing is allowed, but it is catch and release. There is not a swimming area at the lake, but you are welcome to bring your canoe, kayak, or paddle board to explore.

History: According to an 1892 publication, Lake Lucerne is a natural spring-fed lake. The original lake was dammed by a natural ledge of rock, the water eventually eroded through the rock and dropped the lake level. The natural dam was repaired and built up to the point that the lake was 20' deep in some places.

Over the years, the lake has been named Crystal Lake, Spring Lake, and Sanitarium Lake. (Despite the fact that the sanitarium was never built there). It was the perfect resort property and was a prized location for picnics, boating and horseback riding. There are several references-including old post cards-referring to it as Spring Lake up until the mid-twenties. At that time, the lake was sold to Richard Thompson, who also owned Ozarka Water company and had been president of Crescent College and Conservatory. Mr. Thompson eventually established it as 'Lake Lucerne Resort'. He built cabins, pavilions for dancing and for dining, a hotel, a bath house, and a golf course. For years, it was one of the most exclusive resort properties in the area.

This cabin features the original interior and exterior features that made this resort picturesque at the time it was developed. It truly feels like you are stepping back in time to a gone-by era of luxury log cabins.

Note: This cabin is on a gravel road which may not be suitable for motorcycles. Additionally, there is only room for one vehicle. If you have a trailer, or will be expecting guests, please notify us and request special accomodations. (This house only sleeps 2).

Great getaway. Relaxing, quiet and well-equipped

  • 5 of 5

Very nice escape with my wife for a couple nights. Close to town put feels far away from the bustle. House was cozy and had everything we needed. Enjoyed watching wildlife from the great porch.

Secluded, Quiet and Private

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as advertised. The cabin is small but well laid out. Perfect for a couple. We really loved the simple and efficient layout. The deck was great for sitting outdoors at night, enjoying the night air. We used the grill on our first night and it worked very well. It's charcoal and it gets hot! Our steaks were great! Furnishings are very cute and the decor is eclectic and interesting. Bed was comfortable. Starter rolls of toilet paper and paper towels were provided, along with dish soap and hand soap. Dishes and cookware were basic, but had everything you would need for making simple dishes. Lots of towels and washcloths were provided, more than enough for two people. Fridge does not have an ice maker (two ice trays are provided), so be sure to bring ice if you consume a lot. The lake is very small, so really just for looking at, not swimming in. This cabin is at the end of the road, so was very private. We could not see our neighbors at all. The deck wraps around the entire front, so you can choose to be in the sun or out of it in the day time. The location is very close to downtown Eureka Springs but feels like you are in the woods. Distance is too far to walk to downtown, but the drive was less than 5 minutes. Park and Ride for Eureka Trolley is even closer if you wanted to go that route. We really enjoyed our stay. It was right up our alley; simple, clean, private and relaxing. I would stay here again!

We were scheduled to stay at Lake Lucerne but do to poor communication we were moved to Ozark Spring

  • 2 of 5

We were moved to to Ozark springs due to reservation foul ups on VRBO behalf . Bad Idea ! Cabin was nice inside but outside not , view was rocks on one side and trees on the other . if your going to advertise mountain views you should probably make sure there is one . Probably should work on communication on that end as well since this was the weak point . Most likely won't use VRBO again

Owner's Response: This guest requested a date change. The original cabin was not available for the new dates, therefore, the guest indicated that they desired to be moved to the Ozark Spring Cabins Unit. The views there are wooded and the cabins are next to an amazing limestone bluff; providing a majestic backdrop. The woodland setting is high on the hillside as pictured online and detailed in the listing. We take photos that are specific to each cabin to make sure the guest's expectations are met. (I don't think this was VRBO's fault.)

Loved the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lake Lucerne treehouse. The place was tucked away and secluded, while also being very close and accessible to downtown. I would definitely recommend this property for travelers to Eureka Springs!

cabin yes/ lake no

  • 2 of 5

Lake Lucerne was a huge disappointment, small, full of moss and vegetation, not maintained at all. Parking was a horrible especially for cabin #1 at the turnaround. Cabin was fine, clean and quiet, trees needed trimming.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. The Ozark hills and lakes require some one lane roads and creative driveways. The parking space at #1 is actually much easier than all the others because there is plenty of room to turn around. All the other parking areas require a drive to the end of the road to turn around. The lake condition is improving. Lake Lucerne is actually owned by the resort on the north side (opposite these cabins). The lake developed an algae issue for a bit, but the owner contacted the State and other specialists and treatment has been successful. It has been a long HOT summer. A big rain and cooler weather will also improve the lake.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! It always amazes me how Lake Lucerne seems to be a world away and a step back in time, but it is actually less than 2 miles from town and has all the modern amenities. Thanks for staying. See you next trip.
