Ron and I (Mischelle) took our first travel down Baja Hwy 1 in our truck and camper over 20 years ago. We stopped at many places on the way down, , we stopped in Loreto and there was something about this small fishing town that stole our hearts. This quiet fishing town, with pleasant people had something special. The locals were so nice to talk with.. They really made you feel like you were welcome even if you were there for only a few hours. The fishing was great then and still is! We have seen many changes in our journeys to Loreto for the good to capture the eye and memories of travelers to Loreto. Ron and I are still traveling Hwy 1 down to Loreto with our 2 kids. As a matter of fact, We love Loreto so much, Our youngest was born there. It's a place you can't and won't forget!!! We liked the idea of having an Airport in Loreto to make it handy for you and your friends, or use when neccessary .. Please take the time to visit the Town Square and see the towns beauty, and do not be afraid to talk to the locals, They love it!!!they are some of the friendliest people you will meet. We hope you enjoy the special memories of Loreto as much as we do, Thank you for your visit to our Casa de Fiebre Mar!
Ron and Mischelle Morton purchased this house in 2014
Quiet neighborhood, private gated casa, beach front home, walking distance to town., great atmosphere, everything you would need to have the perfect vacation!!!
Four of us were headed to Loreto for spearfishing and I figured we'd give this house a try. It's a short drive to the marina, markets and downtown. We didn't make full use of the pool, etc., since we were in the water all day to begin with, but the house and location couldn't be beat. Our panga dropped us off on the beach outside the house every day when we returned so we could just walk our gear up the beach and onto the patio to rinse it off. It didn't hurt that on our last day Mike shot a world record Triggerfish, which we weighed and measured on the patio by the fireplace. The view from the upstairs terrace is terrific, the kitchen is nicely functional. The freezer compartment of the refrigerator was big enough to hold all the fish we shot, which was important to us. Our only regret is that the weather was so good that we went out on a boat every day and didn't have a chance to go kayaking.
The layout is a little confusing since the upstairs and downstairs are completely separate, but that wasn't really a problem since we spent most of our time outdoors anyway. The shaded patio was well furnished for hanging out after a long day.
Teresita, the local manager, was efficient and helpful and owners Ron and Michelle are friendly and clearly working hard to make sure that their guests enjoy their stay at Villa de Fiebre Mar.
The TV and internet were spotty, but hey - it's Mexico, right? Teresita did get someone out to fix it as soon as we got around to telling her about it. (We didn't come to Loreto to watch TV.)
This worked great for our fishing trip, but there is plenty available in the house and in Loreto and the surrounding area for groups with other interests.
We were 4 couples sharing both levels-- there was plenty of room for us all, no matter where we chose to congregate (usually upstairs unit, patio or pool). The (upstairs) kitchen held a well-stocked cabinets in terms of cooking- & serving ware, as well as herbs & condiments. A land-line phone to facilitate making local arrangements was a bonus, as well as Internet access. A bathroom for each of the bedrooms (plus an extra in lower unit). The toys (bikes & kayaks) in the garage were a huge bonus-- bike riders to town are common in the "Gringolandia" area & the kayaks were a great opportunity to try out that activity. (Probably wouldn't have happened if they'd had to go rent them.) Beach/pool towels in addition to bath towels. Washer/dryer in each unit. Fenced/gated property provided a nice sense of security after dark.
Teresita (property manager) is more than helpful, speaks English and quickly responds to email Q&As; she is not only helpful with property issues but can make arrangements for tours, taxis & fishing charters. (And, absolutely have her arrange your guided trip to Mission San Javier-- the guide she arranged for was very interesting & knowledgeable.)
We had 4 couples stay in the house for 2 weeks. There was plenty of room for everyone, even if you wanted to get away from the crowd occasionally. The house is in a great location, right on the beach and only a short drive to the center of town. We really appreciated Teresita who helped us get fresh water and took care of some of the minor home repairs. The pool was very refreshing and the outdoor area was a great gathering spot. May have been a few margaritas mixed up in the outdoor kitchen. The only thing that we think needs attention, is the upstairs bed (not the master) and the smallest bed downstairs. The mattresses are sagging and in desperate need of replacement. We found some extra pillows and placed them under the center of the mattress which was a big help. The other beds are fine. All in all, we had a great time and highly recommend the house. Loreto is a small, clean, friendly place. A great place for family and friends to hang out.
I wanted to be beachfront and have a private pool. We got that and a whole lot more. The place is huge! There were 4 of us and at least double that number could have been comfortably housed. The outside area is amazing, even better than it looks in the photos. I spent all my time out there, but the inside is nice too. We rented both levels because we didn't want to risk having to share the pool area, but one level definitely would have been spacious enough for the 4 of us. You won't find anything better in Loreto.
the house was beautiful, the pool was sparkling, and the owners and property manger were a joy to work with
We had heard about Loreto from some friends and had talked abou going for years. Finally we did some research and decided to book a trip. We have two teenagers and we figured this would be a good safe fit for our family. We landed at the airport and instantly we loved the feel of Loreto. The people were friendly and we were ready to enjoy our vacation. When we got to the house we couldn't believe where we had ended up. The beauty of the house the pool and the Sea of Cortez at the back door. It was so nice. The feel of Mexico is unexplainable. We walked the beach which is right there a nice walk to all the neat things in Loteto. Some of the best food we have ever had. The weather was great the whole time of our stay. The evening breeze off of the sea was so relaxing at night it was quiet and we got to relax in this house for a week. I can't say how much we loved being there. We are going back to this place in the Spring of 2017. The kids also had the time of their lives. The fishing was also a plus. We also went to Coronado Island for the day and words can't even explain how neat that was. Aqua colored water with a white sand beach. Warm water the snorkeling the fish that we saw was awesome. Watching the sun come up from the patio of the house drinking coffee was just something that we really enjoyed. The dinners and the Matgaritas in the afternoon and evenings were also a big hit for us. So if you are looking for a vacation of a lifetime and an awesome house to stay in I highly recommend this VRBO. You won't be disappointed and you will be planning your next trip as quick as you get home.
