Classic 2 Bedroom Maine cottage, on quiet Stearns Pond in Sweden, near Bridgton, Maine. Two and a half hours from Boston. One hundred feet of private sandy beach, perfect for swimming, fishing and for children. Screened porch overlooking the lake, 40 feet from the beach, plus a spacious lakeside deck, perfect for sunning and cocktails. Great sunsets. Secluded from all neighbors. Stearns Pond is a deep, beautiful and pristine lake 2 miles long and 1 mile wide, with only 40 homes on its shores.
My husband and I bought this property in 1990 when our children were young. Over the years, it has been the place of relaxation, solitude and great memories for our family. It is a truly special place.
Patricia Watson purchased this house in 1990
The cottage is situated in a cove on an acre of land. It is very private because of the distance between the cottages and the lake itself has fewer than 50 cottages. We are miles from the nearest highway, so you never hear traffic sounds. We have several return tenants, love our house as much as we do.
There are loons on the lake, sometimes with babies, and you can hear their haunting calls in the evening. We are on the southern side of the pond, so the house has beautiful sunsets, and boast one of the best views of the lake. We also have a great gradual sandy beach, which is perfect for small children.
Your cottage was so much more than expected. It was cute, clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the cottage had many extra amenities that made it nice for good days and if it was a rainy day. It was very peaceful and quiet.
The water was crystal clear, which we all loved. My dog Meadow, played with the ducks and chipmunks all week. We fed the hummingbirds and went to Remy's for regular bird food. We did see and hear the loons. The area had many trails to walk with our dog. It was a perfect vacation for my dog as well as us.
We absolutely loved our stay!!! We would definitely like to return. Thank you for sharing a little piece of heaven on earth.

Only 15 minutes from Bridgton, which features a great movie theatre, a drive in movie theatre , a fine book store, and many good restaurants and shops. Just 45 minutes from great shopping and outlet malls in North Conway, too. The Saco River is close for canoe expeditions. Fine fishing on Stearns Pond, plus hiking, nature trails, rock-hounding, golf, great dining, antiquing….what more could you desire?
