About Patricia Watson
My husband and I bought this property in 1990 when our children were young. Over the years, it has been the place of relaxation, solitude and great memories for our family. It is a truly special place.
Patricia Watson purchased this House in 1990
Why Patricia Watson chose Sweden
The cottage is situated in a cove on an acre of land. It is very private because of the distance between the cottages and the lake itself has fewer than 50 cottages. We are miles from the nearest highway, so you never hear traffic sounds. We have several return tenants, love our house as much as we do.
What makes this House unique
There are loons on the lake, sometimes with babies, and you can hear their haunting calls in the evening. We are on the southern side of the pond, so the house has beautiful sunsets, and boast one of the best views of the lake. We also have a great gradual sandy beach, which is perfect for small children.

This is a wonderful cottage for those looking for a quiet, relaxing stay. We loved the quiet where the only sounds were the wind rustling in the leaves and the water lapping on the beach. We used the canoe, the hammock, and even the wood stove one night. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a quiet, lakefront cottage, this is your place. Thank you, Patricia, and please let us know if you decide to sell!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of our cottage. You captured the essence of the place we love. We also enjoy sharing it with people like you who appreciate it for it’s simplicity, the nature and the peacefulness of the lake. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with others.
Peaceful and Relaxing
We enjoyed the quiet privacy your cottage offers. Daily canoe trips around the pond and evening cocktails on the boat house deck were the perfect way for us to unwind. Thank you so much for sharing this sit with us.
As always breath taking!
As this being our third year renting, the weather didn’t corporate but there are many things that still can be enjoyed. Going into town and all the shops & restaurants are great way to spend the not so nice days. Plenty of walks to take to enjoy all that nature has. Water was crystal clear and warm for when the sun did peek out! But just to sit back and relax is what we look forward to do! Loons we pretty quiet this time and no ducks to be found!
Enjoyed our stay again! Can not wait until next year.
Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us again!

beautiful, clean water and a very clean and cozy cabin. My dogs absolutely loved it. Very peaceful and quiet but only 15 minutes to town, restaurants, etc. Will definitely rebook for next year. My only regret is not staying for 2 weeks!
A wonderful cozy camp
What a lovely time we had. We planned on an end if summer week at the lake and had an Autumn getaway instead. The weather was cool and breezy, downright windy at times so we spent much of our time indoors. The Camp is well appointed with comfortable furniture , lots of good books , puzzles and entertainment for those less beachy days. I snoozed in the hammock while my husband fished from the canoe. The loons were entertaining and we did get a glimpse of the Bald Eagle. We also heard but didn't see the Ravens. We are at Macks Place in Bridgeton where pretty much everything they offer has a gluten free option. Quite delicious. I will definitely be returning in the future!
This was our 2nd year going to the cottage. We leave feeling very blessed. It really takes you away from everything. In the morning we like to sit outside and look over the pond. It is so serene. The only sound you might hear are the loons.
The cottage is clean, cozy and has all you would need. Pat we are very grateful to you for sharing your cottage with us.
We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The cry of the loons is one of the special things about Stearns Pond. Seeing the loon chicks ride on their parent's back is also wonderful. Hope you will return again next summer.
Only 15 minutes from Bridgton, which features a great movie theatre, a drive in movie theatre , a fine book store, and many good restaurants and shops. Just 45 minutes from great shopping and outlet malls in North Conway, too. The Saco River is close for canoe expeditions. Fine fishing on Stearns Pond, plus hiking, nature trails, rock-hounding, golf, great dining, antiquing….what more could you desire?
