For Garden Lovers: Cossington Park's own gardens have some interesting features:
• An old and extremely rare species of Chinese Elm, brought here by the Owner's ancestors from China, believed to be the only one of its type and age in the UK (the UK's most eminent tree experts have been unable to match it exactly to any known species)
• A wide variety of old English apples trees
• Several ponds with great crested newts
• Rare cowslips
• A fine clump of lime trees
In addition there are many gardens open to the public within a day's visit from Cossington Park.
My name is Lorraine Bentley and I manage the marketing and guest care for the Owner Graham Wason. Cossington Park is his ancestral home and much loved. He now lives in Denmark and London but regularly visits Cossington Park. He reinvests any income back into the property to preserve it for future generations.
Lorraine Millward purchased this chateau / country house in 1600
This much loved ancestral home is the perfect location to relax and enjoy the 22 acres of gardens and grounds. There is plenty to keep children busy and we well come family pets to! Adults can unwind in luxurious surroundings or we can arrange falconry, archery, ballooning to mention but a few things or maybe beauty treatments for a pamper session. Catering is also available on request.
Unique location on the Somerset Levels. Surrounded by stunning scenery and close to Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury, Wells and Burnham on Sea.
There is ample private parking for several cars, and the very large gardens and field are fully secure from the main road for children and dogs to run around in. There is an open barbeque area that we used each night. The gardens are something else- different planting areas, screening, and a peace and tranquillity that has stayed with us. Inside the house, it was spacious and each room was full of interesting books and pictures, so lots to explore at each turn. There are different size bedrooms, some double some twin, and all with their own character, and the different bathrooms meant we could choose whether to shower or have a deep bath. The kitchen was very well equipped- bring a favourite bread recipe as there is a bread machine and our hamper had locally sourced flour, lots of storage space, two large fridges and beautiful views of the front garden. There is Sky but not sports. Wifi coverage was limited in the house, but we could get this when outside. We felt at home as soon as we arrived, and would be delighted to return.
Beautiful house and stunning garden. Kate who catered for us produced a wonderful 3 course meal. We would definitely love to return.
