Guestbook comments from the owner

I have been to this Gite 5 times over the last 8 years - often for a month at a time - what more can I say.

The location is idilic, very quite so you have your own space. Your are close enough to the local town - a short drive so that you are not stranded or too remote. The local lake is fantastic and a well kept secret so even of the 'busiest' of days there is room for the family.

The Gite has all the basics that you can require and the beds are comfortable, if its cold there is a log fire - we have never had to use it. Highly recommended .

Absolutely infested with flies, had to get a farmer to move the sheep as they were 15 yards from the front door, this took him over a week to do! I had to threaten to report him to the mayor. Owner not interested said it had never happened before and said the sheep were always there. Rubbish, where there are sheep there are flies, we were all ill even though we were really careful not leaving food out. I took photos of all of it as proof, we could not eat outside and could not open the windows.THE FLY PAPERS WE PUT UP WERE BLACK WITH THEM, AVOID!

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you were both ill and ran into a natural problem but I am glad that you had very good hot weather, however this is rural France as stated on the holiday web site, set in a village with farms around. This is the first complaint of this nature we have had in the 10 years we have had the cottage and there have always been sheep in the field opposite and the field next to the cottage. We were at the cottage just 3 days before and yes there were some flies as there always is in the country but not to any great degree. Some years flies are more of a problem than others in the summer as reported here in August on BBC 's Country File, Adam on the farm was having a similar problem with flies which he stated was due to the mild winter, an act of God. Our caretaker / cleaner was available but was not contacted and I am not sure what made you ill, however what I was expected to do about the flies whilst living in the UK I am not sure. I am not sure either what the Farmer had done wrong though to be reported to the local Mayor.
