About Greg and Cindy Pierce
Cindy and I grew up in the Central Valley of California and always loved the surf, boarding and fishing. After owning rental homes in Fresno, our home town, we decided to get into the Central Coast housing market with a full time rental in Los Osos in 2000, thinking that it was where we would like to retire, eventually. Fourteen years later, as we closed in on retirement, we were able to trade rentals when we found the Cayucos house. With a vision in our minds and countless hours of watching DIY shows, we hired an architect and a contractor to make our dream reality. In the last month, as we finished our work, we’ve had 4 generations of family spend time with us and, as you can imagine, loved the experience. Alas, we must rent the property to complete the 1031 Tax Exchange rules, followed by a full time residence. We can hardly wait.
Greg and Cindy Pierce purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Greg and Cindy Pierce chose Cayucos
We never thought we could find a home with proximity to the ocean, views, and requirements of 2bd, 2ba, inside laundry, and a garage that was affordable. We just got lucky. When discussing a mobil home with our good friend and realtor, Jeff Blanchard, he asked us what we really wanted and he said, “There is a house…” and we came immediately to check it out. In less than 10 minutes, Cindy was ready for an offer and I said, “Hell yah!!” The financing was a bit complicated, but, long story short, we have been able to remodel the ocean home of our dreams. The house is centrally located on the Morro Strand beach and within short driving distance of many coastal attractions. We hope to move to the cottage in the future, but, for now, we will share it with a few “Ocean lovers.”
What makes this Cottage unique
Without doubt, the view, the closeness to the ocean, and the comfort of the home are its unique qualities. The family throws their toys and towels into the wagon and we walk to the beach. Within 3 minutes, we are in sand, shoes off, wind in our face, waves crashing at our feet. Kids are digging in the sand, surfers are working the waves and couples are walking their dogs for miles. Nice place to be! Aside from beach life, there are a multitude of other activities. World renown wine country with more than 70 wineries to visit and taste. Gather friends and let someone else do the driving. Sightseeing up and down the coast: Hearst Castle, sea lion rookery, Montana De Oro, Big Sur, Artist Colony at Harmony, fine dining in towns up and down the coast, and last but not least, you could simply put your feet up, read a book and relax... the Pacific Ocean stretching for as far as you can see.

"A Shore Thing" Surely Delivers
Three generations ages 76 to 11 all were impressed and enjoyed the scenic location and relaxing home filled with detailed features in each and every room, plus on the deck and back patio. The kitchen is stocked with every need and the guest book is filled with suggestions for dining, touring and recreating. "A ShoreThing" is a gem and "beachy-keen."
Beautiful home with a view
We loved our stay in this comfortable and beautiful home. Our stay was just as we had hoped it would be, we can’t wait to return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pierce Rental in Cayucos. The owners are very friendly and inviting. Everything was perfect from the cleanliness to the location. We cannot wait to go back and experience true paradise. We would highly recommend staying at this Beach House.
Thank you for your review and kind words. We hope you can return soon!
Tranquility and Comfort!
Greg and Cindy have gone above and beyond to ensure their guests have a perfect vacation getaway. It starts upon arrival . The beautifully tended landscape and amazing view of the ocean and Morro Rock are there to greet you. The front deck, with patio furniture/ umbrella and grill was swept clean and everything was wiped down. The Seahorse doorbell was only the beginning of the incredible nautically themed decor that awaited you inside! Blues, teals, tourquiose and ocher set the color scheme to complement the clean white of the kitchen. Every room had incredible detail to the ocean theme, right down to the soap dispensers and little night lights. The kitchen was fully equipped (even with spices and coffe!)and we made good use of it during our stay! The delicious gift bottle of red wine was a great accompaniment (and much appreciated)to our ribeye steaks on the grill.
The beds were extra comfy and there were even flat screen TVs on the bedroom walls. Plenty of towels and extra bed linens were provided. (we even saw a Pack-n-Play in the closet) A full laundry facility complete with detergent and fabric softener, and even an iron and ironing board were provided! The low entry shower was very handy for my 88 year old father to use, and the area rugs were secured to prevent trip hazards.
The backyard patio (easily accessible from both bedrooms) was delightful! Though we didn’t use the firepit or the fountain, the beautiful collection of succulents and plants were so lovely. We even went to two local nurseries to buys several diffent succulents for my dad’s garden. The theme colored Adirondack chairs were comfortable and perfect around the firepit.
We spent time in Cayucos heading down the pier and enjoying the antique shops. Then went to Pismo Beach and Morro Bay, all very close by. Cindy provided me with links and helpful hints to make our visit even more enjoyable. It was a lovely holiday and the Pierce’s made it a very unforgetable event.
What a wonderful review you have written! We appreciate your very kind words! I am a softy when it comes to a father daughter relationship. I was very fortunate to still have my father at the age of 94 and it delighted me to have you and your father! Warm Regards, Cindy & Greg
Another week in paradise!
Just returned from our 5th stay here and already can’t wait for the next visit! This House is amazing, the location perfect, and the hosts make sure we have everything we need every time we visit! From wine tasting in Paso Robles, sightseeing in Santa Barbara, Avila Beach and Morro Bay, and great dining (many dog friendly restaurants too), I could not ask for a better place to visit and get rid of stress. It is officially our favorite place, which is saying a lot, as the previous holder of that title was Playa del Carmen, Mexico! Thank you so much Greg and Cindy for sharing your beautiful home with us yet again! See you soon hopefully!
Love Love Love This Place!!
We have stayed here many times and just love it! It’s our go to place when we come to central coast. Such a cozy house, has everything you need and the hosts are awesome! Will be back for sure!
We are thrilled that you have made Pierce’s Beach Cottage “A Shore Thing” your “go to place” on the central coast! It gives us great pleasure when can assist our guests with there travel needs. We look forward to your return! Cindy & Greg
Aside from the easy beach access and its related activities, sight seeing is a favorite of ours. The Central Coast provides a jumping off place for the hidden wonders of Highway One. Driving north, you have mostly ocean views from Cayucos to Hearst Castle to Big Sur to Carmel and return on HWY 101. Described by Sunset Magazine as one of the most beautiful roads in the world. A long day trip, for sure, but something you'll never forget.
Secondly, the Wine Scene in the Central Coast Region is building a reputation for world class libation. Just wandering around the green hills off of HYW 46, near the artistic colony of Harmony, population 23, to Paso Robles gives you more than 70 wineries that have been reviewed with high praise the world over. Gather friends and let someone else do the driving; music and food is available at many of the venues.
