About Traycie Jones

I am a stay at home Mum and am very involved in my toddler's day to day activities. I enjoy spending time outdoors, gardening and tending to our beautiful property. I love to read and go swimming at the local pool or Spider Lake.

Cooking for my friends and family is always fun, trying new recipes and culinary techniques.

Traveling is my passion and although I don't get much of a chance to do it these days, I hope to in the future, exploring new cultures and history.

I hope to provide a warm and relaxing atmosphere for guests providing information and whatever else is required.

Traycie Jones purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Traycie Jones chose Vancouver Island

When we bought our 11 acre property, it had our main house and a shell of a cabin. There were no floors, adequate stairs or walls.

Accommodations are very important to me when traveling, I wanted to transfer this cabin into something I would enjoy staying in and something guests would be comfortable and enjoy as much as I did.

We began extensive renovations in May 2014. We lucked out and found the best carpenter ever! Walls went up, floors went down, old stuff got touch ups and new stuff found it's way into the space. Recently we were fortunate enough to put a spectacular wrap around deck around the cabin which enables guests to sit outside and get the most amazing views of our very active pond!

What makes this cabin unique

This space is amazing for watching wildlife, from eagles nesting, ducks swimming, beavers paddling, deer grazing and fish jumping! A variety of fresh herbs available at the front of the cabin (seasonal) and huge blackberry bushes located just off the deck area.

Having morning coffee on the deck at sunrise or wine at dusk, the views will not disappoint.

Fishing in the pond is always enjoyable, you won't catch any ten pounders but there is an abundance if you just want to fish for fun!

Beautiful Tranquility

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Duck Hollow. The cabin itself and the surrounding views of the pond are beautiful. We really enjoyed watching the fish jump for food during the morning and sunset hours. The location is, while off the beaten path (which is great!) , very central to access to Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Courtenay and Port Alberni. The cabin has all necessary amenities, it's only minor limitation would be in the kitchen area. If you like to cook on vacation you may find yourself getting creative with the limited infrastructure. However that said, this is a minor issue, all the essentials are there for a great stay. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.

Great location for Spider lake and Horne lake caving

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed at Duck Hollow for 3 nights in August 2017. We had a wonderful time. The cottage is private and very sweet. It matches well to the photos and description by the owner. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and found it easy to launch from there to local areas of interest.

The sofa bed is not very comfortable but the queen bed is wonderful. The kitchen is pretty well stocked, could use a couple more glasses but we managed just fine. The induction burner requires a pot to be on it for it to start (we worked a bit on that to figure it out). We had a small problem with the bbq, and the hosts came quickly to try to fix it (we had fixed it before they made it down).

This is a great getaway spot for couples or small families. Heartily recommended!

Clean well kept and delivered exactly what we were looking for! Peace and quiet! Great communication from hosts during check in. Very private even with main house on property (it is behind cabin and cant be seen from front porch). Would definitely recommend this property to others.

Rustic and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Really enjoyed our week long break at this little cabin which is perfect for two people, would be a squeeze with 4. The cabin was very well cleaned and equipped. Having our coffee overlooking the pond every morning was perfect. Our 6 month old Labrador puppy loved every minute. Great hiking trails, lovely dog friendly beach and lakes nearby. Our hosts were very friendly and easy to contact. Would definitely love to return.
