Don’t miss the many fruit stands for fresh picked seasonal produce or pick your own flower bouquet at U-Pick Omena Cut Flowers.

Additionally, there’s lots more to do in the immediate area – the cottage is 7 miles south of Northport and only 8 miles north of Sutton’s Bay where you’ll find quaint shops, fresh farmer’s markets, a grocery store and restaurants, or plan a day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (about a 45 min. drive) where you can challenge yourself to the Dune Climb and enjoy the spectacular views!

Golf anyone? There are a handful of challenging and beautiful golf courses in the vicinity - the nearest is The Leelanau Club in Sutton's Bay.

But wait, there’s more! Leelanau Peninsula is home to 25 wineries divided into 3 mini-trails for easy touring: the Sleeping Bear Loop, the Northern Loop and the Grand Traverse Loop. Experience firsthand the many award-winning local wines - divide and conquer!

Well appointed home in peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

Ok my big things when using a rental are beds and showers. This house had 20 prime sleeping spots. Matresses and bedding were extremely comfortable, the twin beds are XL, most if not all of the doubles are kings and queens. The showers were clean and the nine of us never ran out of hot water. The kitchen was plenty big and had everything you need. The set up from house to lake was well constructed and attractive. The kayaks were quality as was the big hot tub! I ran on the road with no problem- 7 mile loop, traffic was low, unless you count the deer. Omena is just beautiful and we went back and forth to Traverse City at least 4 times, easy drive, under half hour. I highly recommend this house. Just things to know, there are two showers on main floor, one much nicer- everyone on that floor seemed to use it. The bathroom upstairs is not big, but fine for all but our 6'5" 18 year old who also used the main floor shower. Fans in all the rooms were much appreciated. We had two people with us with some walking issues, the stairs to upstairs were tough for them, they are just a tad short, like your grandma's cellar or something. But five of us went up and down often without problems because we used those rooms. A perfect screened, three season room facing lake served as central headquarters when we were home. Also the tv set up was good as it was World Cup time when we were there. Cellphone coverage was decent and Wi-Fi was adequate, but who needs great Wi-Fi when you are on the lake. We enjoyed this vacation very much. I rent often all over the world, and this house did not disappoint.

Beautiful property with all the amenities and more

  • 5 of 5

This property was amazing! We loved the peacefulness of the location and the beauty it provided. The owners thought of everything as far as amenities. There were plenty of options for things to do, places to relax and also a short drive to get into Sutton's Bay when needed.

This was a completely issue free experience for our group of ten adults. Everything was up to and above the standards advertised. Excellent response to all of our questions leading up to the trip.

Girls Weekend 2017

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house. It was secluded just enough to feel we had the privacy we craved but yet, neighbors close enough if we needed them. Upon arriving, we found the house clean and well supplied. We were please to see our bath towels on each bed, just didn't have wash cloths which was a downer, but that was it, so not to bad. We had 14 women ages, 53 to 76 and had plenty of room. The kitchen is much bigger then it looks in the pictures. The hot tub at night when the sun went down was just what we needed. It was nice to walk back to the house on a deck style board walk instead of dirt. The owners were wonderful to work with and the house did not disappoint. Thank you again.

Beautiful setting, great amenities

  • 4 of 5

This large "compound" is on a large, densely wooded, peaceful lot, with a waterfront affording spectacular sun and moon rise views. If we had neighbors, we did not know it. We were a group of 5 couples, so we occupied all bedrooms but the bunk room. We used and enjoyed almost all amenities including ping pong, hot tub, pop a shot, chiminea, grill, both ovens, both fridges, both coffee pots, etc.

Everything was in good condition and fairly clean. Ample plates, bowls and silverware were available. We even took the plastic plates on a picnic lunch. However, we could have used a second stock pot and sharper chef's knives. It was a challenge to chop veggies.

I stayed in the ChrisCraft room, small but sufficient. Could use a mirror in there however. I was able to stow my luggage down the hall in the linen/storage area, as there was not room for it in bedroom.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't realize the king beds are actually two twins pushed together, creating a crevice in the center. One king even used two twin sheets.

One seasonal note: fruit flies were thick. We purchased apple cider vinegar and created multiple traps which helped. It might be appropriate for owners to leave directions and supplies for such, for renters.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the setting and amenities.

Note to potential renters: It is a haul to Traverse City (25 min), Old Mission Peninsula lighthouse(45 min) and The Dune climb (55 min).

Sibling Reunion Sept 13 - 19, 2017

  • 5 of 5

What an absolutely fabulous place! My family drove up the driveway and could not believe their eyes! There are not enough superlatives to describe this lovely spot on Omena Point. The cottage is so cozy and comfortable. Everyone loved the covered porch. And every evening, after sharing our meal at the huge dining table, we gathered on the upper deck around the chimera watching the flames dance. One of my brothers is quite the fire builder! It was heavenly! And every morning some if us met out on the deck again to watch the sunrises. So breathtakingly beautiful!

We appreciated the cleanliness of the house and grounds and the care taken to provide what we needed for the week.

We all agreed it was difficult to leave this lovely spot and maybe, some day, we will have the chance to come back to this little piece of paradise.

Thank you Mike and Ann Cool for allowing the Mercier family to share your lovely home.
