Perfect Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here could not have been better. The cottage is in the most beautiful setting imaginable with a deck over the water and the peaceful sound of the water easily heard from the deck and surrounded by beautiful flowers. It is serene and private, yet close to town. It was thoughtfully decorated and outfitted with anything you might need for your stay and I have to say I don't think I've ever stayed in a rental with so many thoughtful touches. As an added bonus, the owners were not only super easy to work with but extremely nice and thoughtful. If you are looking for some very peaceful days away from your busy life, you can't go wrong booking this wonderful retreat. And....if you decide to go out, there are good restaurants and some great antiquing in nearby Mena.

Excellent Home Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Glass House during Spring Break as a family vacation. The Owners and the property were tremendous. If your looking for a quiet home setting, this is the place. The grounds were fantastic, it is close to the mountains, crystal mining, town, etc. We would love to return again and stay a little longer.

Wonderful home for a memorable Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

This house is very clean and tidy, and well appointed with lots of little extras for travelers. The five of us were very comfortable here. We enjoyed the creek right off the deck and the lovely views through the home's many windows. The kids play tag in the woods with their new buddy Cooper (Roland and Becky's sweet pooch) for countless hours. The home is secluded and private in the woods, but not so remote that a trip into town becomes cumbersome. Becky and Roland were very kind and met us personally on arrival and gave us a quick tour of the home. Everything here is in good working order. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking needs. We also had plenty of towels and linens. This is a very nice and spacious home.

Also, Mena makes an excellent location for vacationing with children; particularly if you enjoy outdoor activities. Our kids are already planning our return, and we all are looking forward to coming back to Glass House Retreat!

Most Definitely Would Recommend

  • 5 of 5

From the moment my wife and I got there, we were greeted by the lovely couple that owns this retreat. They were more than willing to help me carry our bags inside and show us around. They had the house decorated to suit our occasion. The house is very cute and cozy. Perfect spots for fishing all over the place. The grounds are very well taken care of and there were trails for hiking. It is nice a secluded, and very quiet, which is what first attracted us to this spot. The absolute perfect spot for a getaway! We could not have asked for a prettier place to vacation (and a sort of second honeymoon)! Roland and Becky are very gracious hosts and her homemade cookies were phenomenal. Their German Shepherd Cooper was a delight to have around. I cannot stress enough how pretty and QUIET this place is. If you're looking for a place to get away for a while, let me save you the trouble for looking further, just book the Glass House! Definitely worth the money (which is very reasonable, I might add). Plus, the stocked pantry is perfect if you feel like just staying in and not going to town, but the town is just as interesting as the house itself, with plenty of antique shops and an absolutely charming Christian owned coffee/gift shop right off the main drag of town. You will enjoy your stay immensely not only in the town of Mena, but at the Glass House!

Perfect respite for peaceful reflection after a stressful season!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house for an extended weekend recently to celebrate my husband's birthday. When we arrived we found the house to be so warm and welcoming. Roland and Becky had fixed up some birthday surprises for my husband (homemade cookies.. mmmm!). They even came to greet us shortly after our arrival. It was so nice to get to meet them and talk, and extremely helpful for them to go over some of the details you don't even think to ask about until you need something! They keep this place VERY well stocked with all the little things you need. I've stayed at a lot of VRBO's and I think this was the best-stocked kitchen I've ever experienced! They even had treats for the dogs! And how wonderful it was to be able to bring our two small dogs! One of the things we loved the most about this place was it's remoteness. We took the dogs for long walks down the country lane it takes to get there and there was NO traffic, just peaceful, serene woods and farms and the river. We had planned to get out and go sight-seeing and shopping during this trip. But, once there we didn't want to leave. Even when it rained, it was nice to just look out over the river from the comfort of the living room and reflect. The bed was super comfortable. Neither of us had any trouble sleeping at all (this is an unusual thing for us, even at home!) This ended up being the most RESTFUL getaway either of us had ever experience, a much needed respite after a busy holiday season. If you need to de-stress, this is the place to go! It's top of my list now! ~Debbie & Steve G

Have never stayed in a place that was so together. Everything you need in basic needs provided. The quiet would inspire the best lines ever written in a song, sermon movie and book. Clean and ideal to recharge while unplugged. An 11 on a ten scale. Loved the bloodhound.
