Perfect Getaway Spot

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here could not have been better. The cottage is in the most beautiful setting imaginable with a deck over the water and the peaceful sound of the water easily heard from the deck and surrounded by beautiful flowers. It is serene and private, yet close to town. It was thoughtfully decorated and outfitted with anything you might need for your stay and I have to say I don't think I've ever stayed in a rental with so many thoughtful touches. As an added bonus, the owners were not only super easy to work with but extremely nice and thoughtful. If you are looking for some very peaceful days away from your busy life, you can't go wrong booking this wonderful retreat. And....if you decide to go out, there are good restaurants and some great antiquing in nearby Mena.

Anniversary getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from celebrating our anniversary in this wonderful cottage, and we can't recommend it enough. It was just what we wanted-quiet, secluded and relaxing. The setting in the woods and the surrounding gardens are gorgeous! Imagine a cute cottage nestled into Garvan Gardens and this is it. As others has said, the pics don't do it justice. The deck literally overhangs the river and the sound of the water is hypnotic. We were so delighted by all the personal touches-soft music playing when we arrived, a personal note of congrats and vases of flowers from the garden both inside and out. Even chocolates on the pillows!

The owners came to greet us and answer any questions we had and then they thoughtfully left us to enjoy their lovely retreat. We have rented quite a few houses over the years and can honestly say that this is the most fully stocked pantry and kitchen ever. Staples like sugar, salt, cornmeal and flour, condiments, spices, a full set of cookware, dishes, tools-can't think of anything that was missing. The bathroom was stocked with extra toiletries and first aid items. There was even a fishing rod and a hot dog skewer to use at the fire pit.

The furniture was new or close to it and the mattress was wonderful-this from a person who has many sleepless nights in my own bed. There was even a cozy dog bed and blankets, food and water bowls and treats for our pup to enjoy. Becky and Roland's thoughtful touches and care were evident throughout the house and our interactions with them during booking were prompt and courteous. They were warm and friendly to visit with and obviously have the gift of hospitality.

This property needs three more stars at least.

  • 5 of 5

This place was wildly better than advertised. The photos and description truly don't do it justice. As our first visit, and I say that because we will be back, we didn't really know what to expect, having booked online with no direct recommendation. The area itself is beautiful, but it is clear amount of work and love that has gone into this property. It's absolutely incredible. It's beautiful and relaxing and quiet.

Before we even embarked on our drive to Arkansas, Roland and Becky sent us very clear instructions on how to navigate the last leg; the back roads, so we wouldn't get lost. They also made sure we had a phone number just in case we did. That was just the tip of the iceberg of things that make our stay comfortable. Turned out, they had very clearly marked the few roads that might be confusing, which was wonderful.

Upon parking in the drive, we were surrounded by butterflies and azaleas. I'm not kidding. We came at blooming time and it was beyond incredible. The owners came to welcome us and give us a quick tour and make sure that we felt comfortable with the house. They explained how everything was run and gave us some tips on the area. You could not find two nicer people if you tried.

The glass house was amazing. The bathrooms were impeccable, the kitchen was way better than is shown, we didn't use the beautiful fireplace but it had already been set should we have wanted to. We were there in the rainy season, on purpose, and it was more than I could have asked for. We could pull the chairs up under the roof while it rained and just watch and listen and relax. The house was clean and just immediately comfortable.

This was the most welcoming and perfect stay that my husband and I have ever had. It was more like staying with that favorite aunt or uncle than renting a place. It's not just the personal touches (which are amazing), it not just the beautiful area (which words cannot describe), it's not the comfort that makes it feel like your perfect vacation home if you had one. No, wait. It is that last one.

Excellent Home Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Glass House during Spring Break as a family vacation. The Owners and the property were tremendous. If your looking for a quiet home setting, this is the place. The grounds were fantastic, it is close to the mountains, crystal mining, town, etc. We would love to return again and stay a little longer.

Wonderful home for a memorable Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

This house is very clean and tidy, and well appointed with lots of little extras for travelers. The five of us were very comfortable here. We enjoyed the creek right off the deck and the lovely views through the home's many windows. The kids play tag in the woods with their new buddy Cooper (Roland and Becky's sweet pooch) for countless hours. The home is secluded and private in the woods, but not so remote that a trip into town becomes cumbersome. Becky and Roland were very kind and met us personally on arrival and gave us a quick tour of the home. Everything here is in good working order. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking needs. We also had plenty of towels and linens. This is a very nice and spacious home.

Also, Mena makes an excellent location for vacationing with children; particularly if you enjoy outdoor activities. Our kids are already planning our return, and we all are looking forward to coming back to Glass House Retreat!
