This home is away from it all and it feels very secluded. You don't see other homes from our house. But it's just a few minutes away from an awesome BBQ joint; the Omega Institute; and the Schultzville General Store.
You enter the property by driving down a long driveway of .25 miles. Once inside the house, you're in the main living area which functions as a sitting area, dining area and open plan kitchen. The pool room is to the back of the main living area, and it leads to an expansive outdoor deck.
One bedroom is on the ground floor, past the full bathroom.
A stairway leads upstairs where you'll find three bedrooms and a bathroom.
Downstairs is a basement which has been converted into a den, mostly used by our children. The den leads to a back yard with a massive stone grill, large enough to cook a pig.
You can explore the outdoor space which extends past the lawn into the woods.
We are a family of four with two young children living in Brooklyn. We come to the house at least once each month year-round.
Zvia Schoenberg purchased this house in 2014
What we love about the Hudson Valley and this house in particular is the feeling of getting away from our daily life, while having amenities close by. There are cultural festivals year-round; movie theaters; kids performances; sports events (cycling and running races, for example); wonderful restaurants (many headed by CIA grads); and an abundance of nature for hikes, runs and walks.
We created a place where we could spend the weekend at the house without leaving, if that's how we were feeling. The pool table and the kids basement are great retreats, as are the front and back porches. We love hearing the farm animals next door, and we often have birds come to our front porch to visit the bird feeder.
The house was very comfortable and we loved the private location. It was refreshing to have no TV. It's in a great neighborhood for biking and walking and the kitchen was fully equipped for making a big family dinner. Not far from town and Ferncliffe Forest where we hiked with our 4 and 7 year old grandchildren. We highly recommend this home
We were eight women and a one year old, and every one of us had a great time. This home is very spacious. The grounds are truly park- like. We spent most of our time around the dining table, knitting, talking, eating, and relaxing. The dining table chairs are a joy to view, and, to our delight, they are very comfortable and offer great support for aging backs. The living room furniture has all these qualities also, by the way. The kitchen has everything you would ever need, and more. We brought a few large pots and such with us - totally unnecessary. The owner is extremely responsive, though we had no problems, just a question here and there. The internet service is superb. Each of us had a phone and a tablet connected, and some had laptops connected too. Every device had fast, reliable service at all times. Each of us has had considerable experience with vacation rental homes, and we each felt that this was a superior rental.
We had a great time at the house , it's really close to Omega Institute, , wich worked for us . Thanks
13 of us came up from the city for a ladies getaway weekend and this place suited our needs perfectly! Spacious, clean, beautiful property, well stocked kitchen (could use a blender), and nice bathrooms! Host was very communicative, both during the booking period as well as once we were there when a few maintenance issues arose. I'd recommend a trip to Millbrook Winery, a walk on the walkway over the Hudson and a meal at nearby Terrapin. Such a gorgeous area!
Four colleagues from NY, Nj, and MA enjoyed this beautiful property for three nights. It is well off the beaten track, even for Google. Very peaceful, comfortable and well-equipped. Our only concern was the water pressure when more than one uses occurred simultaneously. We visited the FDR historic site and the Vanderbilt Mansion and enjoyed lunch at the CIA. A great retreat!
Very, very responsive owners -- immediate and effective; great customer service!!
The place is very clean, uncluttered, well-maintained, efficient layout.
Sleeping rooms are very spacious. Living area a bit spacious but very nicely and well decorated.
Kitchen is well-equipped, open to dinning/living area and spacious.
A 15 minute drive to Rhinebeck and a 2 minute drive to the Omega Institute. The area offers a picturesque setting complete with rolling hills and grassy plains.
