Guestbook comments from the owner

Sue & Mike were great hosts! What started out as a "renter/landlord" relationship quickly blossomed into a new friendship. Karen & I had a very good time this past week, in large part, thanks to you. The Cottage and provisions were wonderful but the company was better!

Thank you for a week of fond memories!

Spinner Baits

  • 5 of 5

I rented the back cabin during the first week of august 2010. I was surprised at the amenities that were included with the cottage. The shower is spa-like and not what you'd expect at camp. The cottage is a mix between interesting decor and artifacts and the conveniences of modern living such as the flat screen TV with surround sound and dishwasher, washer/dryer etc.. and also air conditioning!

I primarily rented the camp to fish and after a couple of days found that spinner baits work the best; white for Pike and yellow for Bass! The area around the cottage is prominent with panfish and they can be caught at any time of the day (worms work best for panfish).

I caught a 37.5” Northern Pike using a 1-minus lure (crankbait that only swims 1’ deep) and one of the marina patrons showed me pictures of a 27.5” Walleye Pike that his son caught on a Mepps Spinner (near the channel)!

We also caught fish on buzz baits, plastic worms, real crabs, crab lures, real minnows, & minnow lures.

Good Luck!

Honeymoon Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I decided to take our honeymoon vacation in the Thousand Island region of New York for very simple reasons--we wanted to remain close to home and be by the water--which we both love. after much research we saw the picture of the front home of the Twin Islands and fell in love with it. We wanted to sit on that deck by the water and watch the sunrise and sunset. The house itself lives up to the picture--it is a cean, well kept property that has all the amenities of home--new appliances in the kitchen, new beds in each room, and a new flat screen TV in the living room. The home itself is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Alexandria Bay yet close enough to be at all the major attractions ie Boldt Castle, Singer Castle, Thousand Island Winery, Otter Creek Winery and even Canada in a short time frame either by car or boat. The first day we arrived we contacted the owner to let him know we were in the area and he met us at the marina to help us load our belongings on the boat to the island--now that is what I call customer service. It doesn't end there, when we arrived at the home we were greeted by a gift basket prepared for us with wine, fruits and chocolates as a congratulatory gift for our recent wedding. The home was wonderful-the owners were remarkable and we would recommend this home to anyone who wanted to spend any kind of time in the Thousand Island area.

We offer a 14 ft boat to get on and off the islands. The following photos show some of the amenities of the camp. The large front deck has plenty of seating and a ramp leading to the front boat dock. The interior consists of a kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, and an enclosed front porch with a full size sofa bed. The camp has heat and air conditioning to keep you comfortable. Two full beds, a pull out sofa bed, a twin sofa bed as well, and bunk beds provide ample sleeping arrangements. The kitchen has most utensils, pots and pans, etc. Food and condiments must be brought. The tap water is drinkable but bringing bottled water is recommended. In case of a rainy day there are board games, Satellite TV, and DVD's provided for you. Commercial ice maker and laundry facilities are located on the islands and are shared with the back camp.
