About John SirJesse
I designed and built this house myself, and have lived here ever since. I used to rent the whole house on VRBO for 11 years, but got tired of moving out when guests were here. That's why I made the apartment in back to stay in when guests are here. I lead plant and mushroom hikes in the summers, and snowshoe tours in the winters. I also caretake homes in the region and do hand carved signs and custom carvings and antique repairs.
John SirJesse purchased this House in 1993
Why John SirJesse chose Telluride
This property grabbed my imagination when I first saw it, and I vowed to build a comfortable, efficient home that captures the incredible views it has to offer.

Artistically designed homes thoughtfully created into the landscape always snag our hearts.
Such an amazing experience not only to stay in this home that looks like one featured in a magazine, in Telluride, one of the most awe inspiring landscapes we’ve seen in the world, but also to meet kind and friendly John, who designed each aspect personally.
He took care of us so well, plowing the drive several times a day, and scraping our car each morning, but also giving us space and privacy to enjoy.
In winter the drive from the highway to the house is like hiking through the most spectacular park scenery. An all wheel drive vehicle, and sense of adventure is a must. The reward is an experience that pictures cannot do justice. You’ll have to see for yourself.
Beautiful Panoramic View
The Alpenglow Ranch is a cozy property just outside Telluride. The views during the day are breathtaking. I would highly recommend this ranch to anyone looking to adventure in the nearby areas.
We loved our stay at Alpenglow Ranch. John was an excellent host. The views of Wilson Peak and Telluride Mountains were stunning. House is in great condition and has everything you need.
Heaven on Earth
Two friends and I stayed at Alpenglow Ranch for a long weekend to hike and check out Telluride. The ranch was a perfect home base for our adventures. The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed walks in the area when we were not hiking or in town. Heck, I could make staring out the windows at the million-dollar view a full-time job. Finally, soaking in the tub while watching a storm come over Wilson Peak was truly heaven on earth.
The view from this location could not have been better. We went all over the area and always thought the best view was right there at the house. It was so peaceful as well. Almost felt as though you were out there all alone.
Our stay at this home was peaceful. The owner lives on the property in another room built on to the home, but he was hardly ever home and was very pleasant and left us to our own after the initial walk through. The views as you would expect are dynamic, to the point where you just can't stop looking around. We enjoyed the binoculars to view Elk herds and other critters roaming around. They have all the utensils needed and many DVDs to view and it felt like a home not a dry steril rental property. The beds were comfortable. Only one recommendation, provide a couple of fans for the bedrooms when needed.
I would highly recommend the property. We would rent again without hesitation.
In the immediate area: Fishing in nearby streams, and X-C skiing right out the door.
