About Jane Shergold

John and I lived in the West Country, John had a small business for twenty years, and I was a school cook at the local infant school for nineteen years We had for a long time dreamed of living in the Mediterranean, and so in 2003 we decided to take the plunge, and have never regretted it.

Jane Shergold purchased this villa in 2003

Why Jane Shergold chose Murcia - Costa Calida

We decided on Casa Bougainvillea, we liked the property, and the location, we have found the local people very friendly and welcoming.

What makes this villa unique

Casa Bougainvillea is in a very quiet location, but it is not isolated, it is within easy reach of shops amenities and only ten minutes from the motorway, which makes it ideal for exploring further afield

Beautifully clean and welcoming !

  • 5 of 5

This was our sixth year we have visited, we are so welcomed. The apartment is spotless, lovely fresh towels and clean linen. Jane and John are always to hand if we need anything, nothing is too much trouble. yes we would recommend this property .This year we enjoyed the pool and bbq as usual and visited a few places like Castril and walked along the gorge walk, there is a little bar and tapas at the end. Sierra Espuna had beautiful views. Aguilas was stunning in the evening with a walk up to the castle and down on the beach .we also visited the caves in estrchio de la arboleja and Mazzaron plus a drive up to the big guns which was an awesome view. We also enjoy watching the owls with a glass of wine in the late evening...what a treat!!!

Paradise Found !!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this property and we have just booked our third for September. The peace we experience when we are here is beyond words, a total unwind. The hosts Jane and John and of course Sophie, are a joy and have all the bases covered with regards the accommodation and local eating and shopping. The accommodation is lovely with all the necessary facilities for a very comfortable stay. During our stay in February we had gorgeous temperatures through the day but quite crispy and cold at night so we had the log burner lit through the night and were really cosy. We didn't venture into the pool in February but it is a wonderful facility during the summer months when the temps are high. The pool area and roof terrace are perfect for sunbathing or sipping a glass of wine when the sun is setting, which is stunning as it slips down behind the surrounding mountains. Jane and John have a beautiful way of ensuring that you have all that you need throughout your stay without invading your personal space. The local village which is 5 minutes away has an excellent supermarket, bakery/coffee shop, bars and restaurants. 6 x bottles of good beer or a bottle of wine are less than 2 euros and there is a wide variety of fresh meat, cheeses and tapas available every day. We are so looking forward to getting back in September and would definitely recommend this property to anybody who is looking for peace or a fantastic base to explore the region.

Quiet and Tranquill Oasis

  • 5 of 5

Arrived at the Supermeccado and met by John for an escorted drive to our private apartment where we met Jane and Sophie, we were invited into their casa for a very welcome tea biscuits and a chat befor being shown around our well equipped self contain apartment. John and Jane were very welcoming and friendly and were there if needed but had the ability to completely dissapear when not :-) we had the exclusive use of the lovely pool and barbecue area and also our own solerium on the roof, the bread lady dropped off our freshly baked bread daily mmmmm! And it was great to be met by Sophie each morning who was so gentle when she took her biscuit before she also disapeared (we were asked if we minded Sophie being around at the start of our holiday) We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days exploring the area and relaxing with advise from John and Jane on places to see when requested. We would thoroughly recommend a stay for a relaxing holiday away from the hussle and bustle of everyday life although with the pool your children won't be bored. We enjoyed our stay and will be revisiting again.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased with the reviews from our guests, we try to think of everything they would need, after all, it is their home for the duration of their holiday. Sophie, is our beautiful dog, she is eleven years old now, so is no longer boisterous, she loves to meet our guests, and is quite content to lay a few yards away from them, so she can listen to them talking. We always ask our guests if they mind her being around, it is not a problem to keep her away from them.

Peace Personified

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here before and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere it generates so much we had to return. The property is spotless and very well maintained. Our hosts John and Jane allow you complete freedom, they're there, but you're not aware of it, they wake at ungodly hours to clean the pool on a daily basis whilst you sleep! This is a location where you can physically and mentally un-wind from the stresses of life in the UK. If you want complete relaxation, this is the place for you. The town of Lorca is approximately 15 - 20 minutes drive away for restaurants and local history, local shops and bars are even closer, including a Sunday market where you can buy a wide range of goods and prices are so low. The people in this area are so gentle and welcoming!! We'll be back again! Thank you John and Jane!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your super review, it makes all the hard work worth it. The peace and quiet must be wonderful after the hussel and bussel of the UK, I am afraid we tend to take it for granted, until we, ourselves return to the UK for a holiday. When we return to our casa, it is blissful. We hope to see you again

Enjoyable, relaxing and private holiday

  • 4 of 5

This holiday was perfect for us. We have always rented houses in Costa Blanca and now our children have flown the nest we wanted the privacy of our own pool and use of a BBQ. This was what we thought we were getting from the description and it did not disappoint!

The owners are very friendly and accommodating but give you plenty of space if you want it. It is in the middle of nowhere and a car is a must. The terrain is flat, perfect for me as I run.

All what you read about this accommodation is true and I am sure we will revisit.
