About Brian Daly

After growing up in Scotland and Alabama respectively, we have been happy to call Chicago home since 2003 - except in the winter time when we are even happier to call Cayman our second home!

Brian Daly purchased this house in 2014

Why Brian Daly chose Grand Cayman

The views are simply spectacular! We fell in love with this house the first time we drove past it, and spent many months developing it into the 8-bedroom house that it now is, and that we know will bring as much pleasure to our guests as it does to us.

What makes this house unique

After experiencing all the benefits of condo life on Seven Mile Beach, we find this house to be a delightful change of scenery and pace - a true island paradise.

We Thoroughly Enjoyed Southern Ayr

  • 5 of 5

Most of the reviews before us tell you everything about how wonderful the home and staff are (and we can affirm all the positive comments), so we will focus on things that will make your stay even better.

It was great to have Evadney and Yvonne there. Evadney came daily at 8:30 (Yvonne's hours varied). We would tell her the night before what we wanted for our 9:30 am breakfast. She would set the table for us with breakfast each morning—nice to be spoiled in that way. We took the dishes to the sink for them after meals then they would wash them. We made our own lunches and dinners or had them assist with things on the menu. They made Jerk Chicken 1 night and fresh fish, homemade potato salad, beans and rice for us on another. Both were delicious. During the day they did a nice job of making the beds and tidying the home. Each room has a hamper. They washed for us on 2 days. The staff left at 5.

The entrance to the ocean is rocky. The only way to enter the shallow and warm water is from the stairs at the end of the dock. You will need water shoes in the water. They have a lot at the house, but if you wear size 12 or higher bring your own. We spent a lot of time on the kayaks, stand-up paddle-boards and using the provided snorkels. We found four hidden treasures just to the right of the house (when looking at the ocean) about 30 yards or less from shore and about even with the big piece of driftwood on the shore. When in the kayak or on the paddle board the treasures look like patches of turtle grass, but put on your snorkel and you hundreds of colorful fish--hard to find but worth looking for. The area in front of the house is not a great swimming area. Nice public beaches are within a 5-minute car ride.

There are 2 restaurants close to the house with good food that you can walk to for lunch or dinner. The small and unpretentious Czech Inn Grill is a short drive from the house and has some of the best food on the island. GO THERE, Best menu items-goulash, schnitzel, hamburger, snapper and Greek salad.

Bring blue tooth speakers if you enjoy music. Groceries are expensive there. We did bring in some of our own liquor and food--worked well. Duty Free liquors are VERY reasonably priced on DEPARTURE so save luggage space.

We left a kiddie pool that the kids used so please enjoy.

Floor plan: TOP 1Q; 2ND Master 1K; MAIN 1K, 1K, 2Q; Ground 2Q, J&J and Hideaway

The house was perfect for us, the kitchen saved $, the staff let us relax.

Best vacation rental I ever made

  • 5 of 5

There were 13 of us, ranging in age from 24 to 85. Everybody rated the trip outstanding (or better!) The house was perfect. Evadney and Yvonne made everything go so smothly, including getting a plumber when we needed one. And they fixed us a wonderful jerk chicken dinner one night. The younger set spent a lot of time on the paddle boards and kayaks. There was even an attempt at a ping-pong tournament.

We did a lot of the touristy things. Sting ray city (great trip, includes snorkeling.) Scuba diving. Fishing. Massages given at the house. Starfish point (went by car.) Visit to Hell. Toured the crystal caves.Saw the blowholes. Some of us hiked the Maestic trail and advised the rest not to do it. We scheduled a lobster fishing trip, but bad wind conditions forced us to cancel. It sounded like fun and they would cook them for us for lunch.

Dinners. South Coast Grill (twice - 3 stars, decent food, good service, moderately priced.) Lighthouse (3 stars - good food, but pricey and service was slow), Morgans at the Yacht Club (5 stars, wonderful dining experience), Eagle Rays (3 stars - Tukka sent us there when a plumbing problem forced a cancellation of our reservation at Tukka. Fun place to go. They have a swimming pool in the dining room.) On Super Bowl Sunday, we ordered in pizza from the nearby Domino's.

Lunches. Rum point twice. (The mudslides there are wonderful, less so at some other places. 5 stars. A beautiful setting.) Also at Tukka (OK for lunch. We'd like to try dinner.)

We hope to return next year. Tina and Brian were unbelievably helpful. Lots of tips on things to do and places to eat.)

Best rental I ever made

There were thirteen of us, ranging in age from 24 to 85. Everyone raved about the place. The younger ones among us spent a lot of time on the paddleboards and other water related activities behind the house. There was even an attempt at a ping pong tournament. Evadney and Yvonne were wonderful. Making beds, making breakfast, getting a plumber when we needed one, helping us with shopping, doing laundry. And they made us a wonderful jerk chicken dinner one night. We did most of the touristy things. Sting ray city. Fishing trips. The crystal caves. A trip to Hell. Starfish point (went by car). A couple of us went scuba diving. Watched the spray at the blowholes. Rum point for lunch (twice), The mudslides there are magnificent, those at other places not as good. We ordered in Domino's pizza for the super bowl. And we're already talking about next year. This year it was an anniversary celebration. Surely someone in the family has a birthday we can celebrate at Southern Ayr next winter.

Great vacation house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a great place for a group stay. It was well equipped. The kayaks and paddle boards were fun. We had 14 people and each couple had their own bedroom. Only 2 couples shared a jack and Jill bathroom. Other than that, everyone had their own bathroom. The two women employees kept everything nice and clean and it was a real luxury that we didn't have to do our own housekeeping. We had them fix us one meal and it was amazing! Overall, this was a great value. We had a wonderful vacation with our 6 kids and their spouses.

Wonderful trip!!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in 7MB and West Bay on previous trips and were looking to explore more of the island and be off the beaten path. This was absolutely perfect. The house is gorgeous, truly there isn't a "bad room," they're all wonderfully decorated and appointed. The views off the balcony and sitting out in the loungers are absolutely unbeatable. We had some wonderful days just hanging out at the house, paddleboarding, kayaking, floating, playing pool and ring toss game and reading and just enjoying being together in such a beautiful place. Truly a perfectly relaxing and luxurious spot. The staff is wonderful and having them there means it's not a typical "mom vacation," where mom spends the whole vacation doing dishes and laundry in proximity to the ocean.

The bay right out front is awesome. We saw so many fish and birds and, while floating around on the inflatables, an octopus! At night, there is a bioluminescent light show in the water at the end of the dock. Go watch, it's magical.

Lighthouse Restaurant was wonderful. The SouthCoast Grill is closer to the house, and has great views, but the food is just fine, not great. Rum Point is easy to get to and a lot of fun for the kids. Skip Starfish point, it's like lauderdale and there are only a few starfish because humans haven't been respectful enough. Botanic Gardens are beautiful (just be aware that wild dogs have eaten all the blue iguanas and the survivors are in their recovery center, so if you want to see them, book a tour of the iguana center, they're not in the wild night now.) It's more of a trek to get to the beaches at 7 mile, but totally doable and an easy drive (once you get used to being on the left).

If you stay here, preorder groceries from Kirk Market. In addition to groceries, we had a sandwich platter delivered from their deli and it was great to have them waiting when we arrived. We also had a cheese and cracker and fruit platter from them, kept it in the downstairs fridge, and brought it out nosh on for days while we hung around down by the water and in the loungers, it was perfect.

Can wholeheartedly recommend this house!

Perfect multifamily vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing and perfect for our group of 11. We had 6 adults and 5 teenagers and were a little reluctant to rent the house because it is located 20-30 minutes from seven mile beach and the busier part of the island. This turned out not to be a problem at all and we actually loved the location of this house. We rented 2 cars and, apart from having to adjust to driving on the left side of the road, driving around the island was fine. Our kids got certified to dive through Epic and the staff was wonderful. I was able to snorkel above the kids while they did their check out dives which was great for me to see. We were all able to dive together later in the week and had a fantastic time. Evadney and Stacy were wonderful to us and we enjoyed the beautiful fruit platters and jerk chicken they prepared. The house had every single item we needed and it was great to learn that you can order groceries and drinks to be delivered to the house before we arrived! We swam everyday in the bay - we wore the water shoes and had so much fun snorkeling and exploring all of the sea life right outside the door. We saw lion fish, lobsters, and octopus to name a few. We paddle boarded down to another beach and kayaked. All of the beach equipment that is provided certainly adds to the experience.( It is expensive to rent these items on your own. ) We hope to return to this beautiful piece of paradise in the future! Bryan was so pleasant to work with and he provided great details on the house and area that made our arrival and getting to the house very easy. Thank you Bryan for everything!
