About Richard Roddy

In 1983 I bought a one-way ticket and moved to Hawaii. While growing up on the beaches of the Great Lakes every summer, I dreamed of the endless summer in Hawaii.

A simple plane ride landed me in the most beautiful paradise. The intense color of the ocean , mountains and tropical flowers and the constant warm trade winds are something I never take for granted and appreciate every day.

I have entrusted long time licensed property managers and Kailua residents , Chris and Beth Cronk, to take care of our guests and to make sure they experience the very best Hawaiian Holiday possible. Why Richard Roddy chose Oahu

Kailua is first and foremost a beach community. In fact, the steady onshore trade winds makes Kailua Beach one of the world’s preeminent windsurfing destinations.

In 1998, Kailua Beach Park was named “America’s Best Beach” by coastal expert Doctor Stephen Leatherman and then “retired” from subsequent consideration.

What makes this apartment unique

The Windward Oahu town of Kailua—population 36,513—is only a 30-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Honolulu, but it may as well be a world away. There are Oahu residents who go for years without making the drive over to this part of the island. And to be truthful, Kailua residents are perfectly okay with that. They rather enjoy having a scenic slice of Hawaiian heaven all to themselves.

Getting to Kailua was always a challenge. Ancient Hawaiians only had two options: hiking over the Koolau Mountains or sailing around Makapuu Point along the island’s eastern shores. More often than not, they chose the direct route and climbed a trail up and over the pali (cliff). Today, most drivers reach Kailua via the Pali Highway (Route 61). No matter how rough of a day Kailua residents may have, the feeling they get as they emerge from the highway’s tunnel and take in the sweeping panorama in front of them is one of instant comfort and reverence.

Oahu's Kailua, meaning "two seas" or "two currents," is named after either the two lagoons located on the island or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay. Steady trade winds make Kailua Beach a great windsurfing and kite-flying destination. Clean, relaxing and convenient location in Kailua Beach

We had a fantastic vacation at this rental. It is very clean and spacious and the lanai gives you a great outdoor space any time of day. The area is breezy which is really nice for sleeping. We had a short walk to the most amazing Kailua Beach. Sand is beautiful and the ocean is warm. There is a grocery store a two minute drive from the rental and we were only 30 minutes to Honolulu. The boulevard this rental is located on has some traffic but it is not too noisy, just makes you feel like you are a local. I would stay at this rental again the owner was helpful and we had access to boogie boards and chairs to the beach. Just lovely.

Location, property, and customer service completely exceeded our expectations!

We absolutely loved this quiet neighborhood property with its 5 minute walk to the beach. The owner supplied us with all the beach gear we needed. He was helpful with all of our questions and requests--allowing us to truly make the most of our stay in Kailua. We were able to easily drive to numerous adventurous hikes, easier walks, serene beaches, places to eat and shop, Waikiki, and the North Shore for activities. I couldn't believe that the property supplied everything we needed with the exception of food and personal supplies. Laundry facilities were very convenient. The property layout was incredibly spacious for our group of 6. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths made it convenient and private. The kitchen and gathering room was a great space with a very large couch. We loved our personal lanai to eat out on and see the views. My husband was initially worried about no a/c, but the windows did a great job of keeping the place cool and comfortable. It was evident that the place was new and in immaculate condition. We would definitely stay here again!! Thanks for your hospitality.

Great Family Rental!

Our family of 5 stayed at Kailua Mountain View for Christmas vacation this year. The rental was just the right size for us. All the kids had their own beds and a nice bathroom to share. We had a spacious master bedroom with a good sized bathroom. Everything we needed to enjoy the beach was ready for us... towels, mats, boogie boards, etc. The walk to the beach was easy! We even spotted the Presidential Motorcade several times on our daily walks. The rental was comfortable, clean, and a perfect location for us. Thank you for helping make our stay in Kailua so nice.

Nice house and nice area

We met the owners they are very nice, the house is very nice and close to the beach. The only downside is the street it's on is quite busy even at night.
