The Simonton Studio is neat, sweet and complete. This pet friendly accommodation is the perfect location for exploring Key West. So, get out there and live it up in Key West and come home to a king size bed and everthing you need to fix your own cocktails and prepare some shrimp. Two bicycles are provided to explore the island.

Located in a 6 unit compound this tiny Association is located in the heart of Old Town on Simonton St. Walk to the Hemmingway House, the Butterfly Conservatory and stroll Duval street with it's shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. There is a Laundromat providing drop off service a block away.

Lots of unexpected amenities inside unit, which may vary, but it met our needs for a morning coffee or tea without making an immediate purchase.

Enjoyed the outdoor patio table, and the overall peace..but, there are roosters everywhere, so expect an early greeting.

CVS is less than a block away, as well as the city “free” bus loop that satisfies a tourist’s need for the Key West experience without driving and paying huge parking fees! Plus you get the walking in that is really required to absorb it all.

The weather was perfect, although due to the storm, it did impact tourism. I drove down, so the impact is still present, but they are trying hard to get the Keys back to normal. I highly recommend a meal at Bass Pro on the water-Islamorada Key.

Restaurant regulars that don’t disappoint: Pepes/Blue Heaven/Michaels/Mangia Mangia/El Siboney. Experience the Stone Crab if it’s in season, they opened a seafood market with restaurant on Eaton St., but I couldn’t fit that in.

Shopping: shops around Mallory Square (you must do the sunset, and dance by El Meson de Pepe after sunset-a Latin band starting at 5pm that’s been there for years..you can’t be an enticement, the breeze, and good music..they also have a great cigar shop inside). There is also a $5 shop near there, primarily clothing.

Also in that vicinity is a fantastic tea and spice shop, a winery, and a key lime shop. If you’re a foodie, check out the local grocery Fausto’s for everything needed to cook in the unit, or bring home.

Pam’s immediate response to anything ensures a relaxing vacation will occur!

Perfect location for Old Town Key West Exploring

Small, clean cottage studio that is nicely equipped with everything you'd need for a great stay in Old Town Key West. Before the stay there was great communication with the owner, Pam. The studio has a full kitchen with full size appliances. Nice bathroom with a great shower. The bed was big and comfy. The only downside was that the wall AC unit was a bit on the noisy side when it was cranking. It wasn't too much of a problem though. Parking in the area can be limited but we didn't have a problem finishing a spot. I can't say enough about the location. It was right in the middle of everything! The best part of the trip was being able to walk to the great cafes and sights nearby while being able to quickly pop back to check on our dog who was staying with us too. Yes, it's pet friendly! I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in town. Thanks Pam!!

About Pam MacKenzie

I have been living in Key West since 1992 having moved here from Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been doing vacation rentals since 2004 and my three properties keep me plenty busy. My properties are strictly rentals and they are not a second home. I operate as a business using my Florida Corporation called Scotia, Inc. and the rentals are my primary source of income. All three properties are licensed as transient rentals with both with the City of Key West and with the State of Florida. Why Pam MacKenzie chose Old Town

This property was once a small hotel that was converted to condos, not something that would work in many small cities but here it is a gem. I love the location of this property and it offers what I would want in an accommodation; a big bed, a small kitchen and affordability. Many condos in Key West are restricted by their Association to renting for not less a week and this means owners must also stick to a rigid schedule of Saturday to Saturday to maximize bookings but this property does not have that restriction and offers the flexibility that guests love.

It has been a refuge for writers, Presidents, parrotheads(Jimmy Buffet fans), artists and tourists looking to find a different Florida experience. Key West is funky, eccentric, expressive, tolerant and fun loving.
