Wow! What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a close location for a family wedding nearby in the area and found a diamond! The kids had so much fun kayaking an the bay, biking the neighborhood and down to Point Lookout. There was an osprey nest so close we could watch them fish in the bay and feed the young nestling. Even with terrible weather one day we had fun onshore playing board games and watching the waves and the lightning over the bay at night. Can't wait to return!

Natures cure

  • 5 of 5

I loved waking to the beautiful sunrises over the Chesapeake and the calming effect of waves crashing on the nearby beach. The property’s location ensured privacy, while the waves, wind & wildlife provided the background sounds for a relaxing stay. The property was beautifully furnished. I would revisit this beach house in a heartbeat.

Seascair is a beautiful Chesapeake Bay waterfront property, but it is not private or peaceful

  • 3 of 5

Seascair is a lovely property. The house is beautifully appointed, and there are nice extras (e.g., shampoo, dish soap, paper towels, and comfortable furnishings). From the pictures and reviews, we were anticipating a nice, peaceful, romantic getaway for our wedding anniversary on our own private beach. The house and property are beautiful and well maintained, and the property managers are wonderful people. We had about a day and a half of our own private, peaceful beach. It was incredible. But our rental was for seven nights. We did not realize Seascair is only one of several rental properties in a row on that section of the shore; the other rentals all sleeping between 10 and 14 guests. Our week started with 10 college students with a dune buggy next door (and yes, all the terrible things you can imagine 10 college students with a dune buggy at a beach house doing did happen) and ended with a group of 12 renting the property two doors down who had absolutely no concept of boundaries. So, have no misconceptions, Seascair’s privacy is “shared” with others. [Note, for your information, Seascair shares a driveway with the house next door, which has 7 bedrooms and sleeps 14. Also, there is a full time tenant living/using the garage in the rear of Seascair.] When we discovered this group of rentals are all owned and rented out by the same person, and that person had full knowledge she was renting to 10 college students with a dune buggy, we were less than pleased. We still cannot figure out why someone would want that kind of damage and destruction to their own property, not to mention the disruption to the other guests in her rentals next door and nearby. The rental page online clearly states, “No parties/events” and “Minimum age of primary renter: 25”. Both of these were ignored/allowed during our week there. We absolutely loved the house and property at Seascair, but we would not come back and take the chance of having the same type of neighbors and experience we just had. It’s simply not worth the risk of your vacation time and money if you are looking for peace, quiet, and privacy.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry that this guest was disturbed for one evening before we were able to request better behavior by our next door guests. We do want to say that this was an aberration and to explain that each of these houses has one acre of land, itself, despite having a partially-shared driveway. In this case, we spent a significant amount of time screening in advance and receiving written assurances from the international students, who were participating in a local contest, that they would be respectful. And, for most of ther stay, they were. On that day they clearly were not (the group departed shortly so the disturbance was tenporary for the other guests). We did act, as soon as we heard the complaint. We're just sorry we didn't know sooner. Based on this experience, we will no longer waiver the minimum 25-years of age policy, including for international student groups. I should also mention that the one bedroom apartment behind the main house is occupied by a single person who works during the day and never causes a disturbance. This is usually among our most peaceful of houses with its own beautiful Sandy Beach and a vista of sandy beach directly to the north. We love it and we again express our apology this guest has a negative experience on one day if their stay.

A great stay on the water

  • 5 of 5

Our family loves to come out to the Point Lookout area at least once a year and this trip, it was just the three generations of men; me, my 2 year old, my older brother, and my father. It was a great trip with fishing, cooking, and playing in the sand. The house was setup with everything we needed from the plates and silverware to the cookware. There is always a bathroom ready to go with soap, towels and even a roll of TP. The place was just cleaned before we got there and even smelled of fresh laundry.

Outside, there were some really nice lawn/beach chairs with a wood picnic table to hang out and eat. The weather was warm in the day and really cool at night so we were happy that both the heater and AC worked well.

Lastly, the property owner was great to work with. We had a special last minute request and she was able to accommodate us. Always a great trip and looking forward to booking again this year.

A beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is in a beautifully secluded location despite several neighboring homes. The view from practically every window captures the water. The home is well equipped with all necessities, however the grill has seen better days! Reservations were easy and Peggy was extremely accommodating and prompt in her responses to emails. The kayaks and bikes are also a fantastic bonus! While this is not directly related to the home, I would caution those interested in staying that there is very little in the way of shopping close by. The staples such as the grocery or Wawa or a special restaurant are approximately 30-35 minutes away, so come prepared! (There is a dollar store and beverage store for essentials close however.) My only criticism would be that of the living room furniture. The couch is very small and does not accommodate many for seating. Two can fit on the couch and two in two chairs. Being that the main TV is located there and it is off the kitchen, a larger couch/loveseat would be my vote!

Owner's Response: We thank our guest for both the kind words and the helpful suggestions. As for the grill, we had just ordered a new I've yesterday stemming our last review of that property and updates it needs! We currently have a love seat and club chair in the living area, because that best fits the space, but we will look at whether a larger sofa might work.
