Beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Three Palms was a beautiful property with plenty of space. It was a perfect spot for a vacation and situated in a cute town with a special history of its own. It was great to have the use of a fully-equipped home and not be limited to a hotel. The property was clean and well-maintained and the owner was prompt in answering questions as we approached our stay. I would recommend Three Palms to others. Restaurant selections in the city were disappointing, with only one of the three that we went to being very good - The Table at Inner Banks.

The home was beautiful with exquisite antiques and furnishings.

  • 4 of 5

The home was beautiful. The furnishing were exquisite! Some of the renovations were not complete and you could easily tell after you spent some time in the home. The home is not set up for a family of six. We had trouble trying to all sit in the living room since it only had two wing chairs and a small sofa. It also isn't the best home for children. We were constantly watching to be certain they were not getting too close to the beautiful accent pieces around the rooms. It would be a perfect home for a couple to visit or ever two couples.

What I was most surprised about was the food in the refrigerator that was open and appeared to be left from other visitors to the home. The pantry was also full of opened food. We had to rearrange the food in order to put our items in the refrigerator, freezer, and pantry.

There was also an army of ants in the kitchen. As our experience in the past has been, the home has always been ready for occupancy by the renter. They were on the floor, the counter top, and on the island. The neighborhood was not what I expected. Beyond the home, the surrounding neighborhood appeared to be questionable.

The town of Edenton should not be missed by anyone that travels even remotely close by. It is the friendliest town I have visited in many years. It still rolls up on Sundays and observes the Blue Laws that most towns have done away with. We celebrated the 4th of July with the town people and enjoyed their festival that was set up. The Outer Banks is an hour or so away and we enjoyed a day there also.

David Stevenson, one of the owners, could not have done more to help us enjoy our stay. I must have called him three times or more and he was very helpful each time. If you want a place to get away to and enjoy stepping back in time, Edenton, NC is for you.

Owner's Response: Frankly, I'm a bit surprised by this review. The couple seemed absolutely thrilled with the house and it's furnishings when they arrived. We do leave only condiments in the fridge for our guests to use if they wish. We were not aware of ant problem and have taken imediate steps to correct this. If we had been made aware during their stay, we would have done so even then. Three Palms is an elegant, historic home and is furnished accordingly. There are no "lazy boy" recliners or particle board furnishings as you might find in a modern home. There are fine antiques and antique reproductions throughout the house. I regret that this recent guest did not find it all that they expected. As I read previous reviews, this is the exception to the rule.

Stepped back in time and enjoyed every minute !

The photos will give you a sampling of the beauty of this home. The period décor with updated features is awe-inspiring and is like a page out of Southern Living magazine. Upstairs, a large master bedroom with a canopied king bed, master bath with a claw foot slipper tub (sweet) and tile/glass shower. The second bedroom with canopied queen bed and the third with two twins. All beautifully decorated. The main floor, foyer, half bath large living room, dining room with open fire place to both rooms. A large, fully equipped, beautiful kitchen with ample seating and space. The home has hardwood floors throughout with area rugs in the main rooms. Lots of little extra touches to appreciate. A short walk to the bay and the historic downtown area with shops, restaurants, trolley ride (highly recommended) and the lighthouse. Edenton is home to approximately 5,000 residents and a lovely town. We also included some beach time in our stay. The Outer Banks is a scenic one hour and a half drive from Edenton. Pack a cooler, beach chair, towel and a book, head over to the beaches for several hours, have lunch and return for a quiet evening. I'm ready to go back! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

If you are looking for southern charm this is the place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

Although the house is old it has been totally renovated with all the modern amenities (wifi, tv's, modern baths, and updated kitchen). The interior decorating is exquisite. Four of us stayed for 3 days and we all found the beds clean and quite comfortable. If you are looking for a central location to stay while visiting Edenton or the surrounding area I would recommend this property.

Three Palms is delightful

  • 5 of 5

We live in S.C., met friends from Maryland to celebrate my husband's birthday. The house is charming. It's warm and cozy and very comfortable for 6. The kitchen is amazing and very well equipped. We baked a cake and found a great assortment of bowls and pots and pans. The location is great. Just a very short walk to the water and downtown. Owner's are great. We had a minor glitch with the lock-box(our fault) and they and their property manager were immediately responsive. We're looking forward to our next long week-end at Three Palms.

Three Palms is located just steps from Edenton Bay. Fishing , boating, kayaking and all water activities abound. At the end of our street is fresh water to the left and salt (brackish) water to the right. Fishing liscences may be obtained at local marinas and on line as well. There are also boat tours most of the year. Don't miss the historic attractions in our area. See the beautiful examples of colonial and Victorian architecture and gardens as you stroll the streets. It's like. stepping back in time.
