The Homestead and The Stepping Stones should be your first choice in your search for the perfect Lake George vacation rental! Our property is located in Kattskill Bay, a very secluded area on the east shore of Lake George. Our Lake George vacation rental guests will enjoy a quiet forest setting with breathtaking sunsets from the screened in porches, while only minutes from Lake George Village and the Lake George Outlets for shopping, restaurants and recreation. If you play golf, The Top Of the World Golf Resort and Queensbury Country Club are within 7 miles of the cottage. Other areas of interest include: Historic Fort William Henry, The Great Escape (a Six Flags amusement park), Saratoga Racetrack and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. There is docking for two boats and plenty of parking for vehicles and boat trailers. There are nearby marinas where you can launch your boat or rent a boat. You can also take a cruise on one of the Lake George Steamboats to enjoy the breathtaking views and vistas from the water. The cottages are located on the road leading to hiking trails for Buck Mt. and Pilot Knob Mt. The Stepping Stones is an Adirondack log cabin renting for $2150 (in-season) for 7 nights and The Homestead is a spacious bi-level renting for $2250 (in-season) for 7 nights. Off-season the minimum stay is 4 nights and the rate is $214 per night for up to 4 people. Off-season weekly rate (7 nights) is $1500.
The property has been in our family since 1941. There are log books at the cottage dating back to 1942. The new Homestead was built in 1995 and the new Stepping Stones was built in 1994.
Our first experience with VRBO and nothing but good things to say. We stayed in Stepping Stones in mid August. House was very clean. Loved the porch, views and the dock. Quiet location. The house has everything you need. AC would be nice for really hot and humid days but otherwise the fans are enough. I would highly recommend the house for anyone. Thanks Nancy for a great stay.
We stayed in The Stepping Stones log cabin for a week last month (July 2016 ) and absolutely loved it. Everything was there that you could possibly need for a week at the lake and was very clean. There is plenty of space for 6 people on the three levels. Our favorite place was the screened in porch where we spent many hours just relaxing and watching the lake views. My grandchildren also enjoyed the boat dock for fishing and swimming. My grandson said "the lake was so clean he could see the dirt on the bottom." All in all a great place to stay!
The owner is so welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the Homestead. It was clean and cozy and being an avid reader I was drawn to the fully stocked bookshelf that was waiting to be explored! The view of Lake George is unbelievable!! It was our first time and we really love Lake George and plan on returning to the Homestead every year!!!
I recently enjoyed an absolutely wonderful week in Lake George! I stayed in the "Homestead", although I've stayed in the just as lovely "Stepping Stones" many times as well. You could say I grew up there since the owners are my parents! My mother would say I shouldn't do a review, but I say why not? Who could give you better insight than someone who has vacationed there her entire life. Although I may be biased I am only going to give you facts and for those of you who have stayed at these houses you know this already. First of all these houses have everything and when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING! If you can think of it, it will be there. My parents work so hard to keep everything perfect. My dad is the silent handyman while my mother is the jovial worker bee who loves to get to know the renters and keeps the house totally spotless! It wasn't easy growing up with someone like that, but you'd definitely want to stay in a house maintained by someone like that:) My mom is the most lovely woman you could ever meet, and she loves keeping busy with those houses. So more about the location! Well... it's absolutely perfect because we have a nice area of sandy beach so you can get into the water gradually. Many docks don't have that, so we are extremely lucky! If you haven't been to Lake George you need to know that the water is as clean as could be - it's amazing! The dock has two levels and the top is perfect for watching the sunset. We are also very lucky to be on the East side of the lake so we always try to get down there after dinner with some wine or margarita's to enjoy watching the sun go down. It's peaceful and romantic, but also great for the kids if you're like me and don't get away without them! I can't say enough! It's my favorite place and there is no way to describe it, so you have to come experience it for yourself!
This was our 7th year staying at both houses. It is an idea set up, adults in lower house and adult kids in upper house. Both houses are immaculate and the views are priceless. Plenty of space to dock our two boats, sandy swimming area to enjoy the lake and both the screened in porches and sitting area down at the lake to enjoy the passing boats and the beautiful night skies. I would highly recommend this to my friends/relatives and anyone else looking for an enjoyable, relaxing and perfect vacation.
This is our 2nd year we have visited the Homestead with our family. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the home and property. We chose to eat dinner out nightly, however, if you do decide to eat in, all the necessities are at your fingertips. We brought our kayaks from home and enjoyed daily excursion around the bay. When we weren't kayaking, we were relaxing on our floats or reading on the dock. There is a small boat house to store your water gear if needed. The sunsets at night are spectacular which can be viewed from the screened in porch or dock.We are looking forward to our return trip next year.
