The Sands of Kahana has the biggest 3 bedroom condominiums (1850 square feet)on the island and we are one of the few 3 bedroom units at the Sands of Kahana that has air conditioning in their unit. Our prices are low because you book directly with us and save. Other properties this size are renting for close to $400 a night. We eliminate the middle man (booking agent) and you save big!

Imagine spectacular ocean views and vivid rainbow skies from every perspective in this magnificent three bedroom, two bath condominium in Kahana Maui. With over 1850 square feet, this bright, breezy, and scenic unit has a huge living room, dining area, and kitchen with all major appliances and ample storage. We are on the 5th floor and there is an elevator in our building. You can also take the stairs if you would like.

The Master Bedroom Suite is right on the ocean includes:

Housed at the Sands Of Kahana, all guests have access to the Kahana Beach, and an array of amenities in the complex including two ocean front pools, hot tub Jacuzzi, comprehensive pool side restaurant, full bar, exercise facility, volleyball, tennis courts, putting green and daily guest entertainment programs.

About The Owner

We are a family of 6. Mom, Dad and 4 teenagers. Mom and Dad are retired United States Naval officers.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2005

Why The Owner chose Maui

We first bought a 2 bedroom timeshare at the Sands of Kahana in 2003 sight unseen. We were promised by the realtor that the Sands of Kahana were the biggest 2 bedroom condos on Maui. We wanted a big place since we had the 4 young children. When we first checked into our unit, we couldn't believe how big the unit felt. We then had a great family vacation and fell in love with the Sands of Kahana complex. So, we decided that we wanted to be a place outright that we could use anytime during the year. With our growing family we decided to get a 3 bedroom place. Although there are only a few in the complex we were so happy to find a 5th floor, corner unit with two lanais that is right on the beach.

Rob was a great host and his place is simply just amazing. It was so well equipped which made preparing meals a breeze. He even had a spice rack which was superb. Our jaws dropped when we saw the view from the apartment. It was right at the footstep of the beach. The pool and heated jacuzzi downstairs was fantastic and was a lovely way to cool of. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants an ocean front view and a stones throw away from the beach. We were a group of 7 adults and 2 kids and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them themselves and definitely want to go back to Maui again. Thanks Rob for being a great host and opening up your lovely home to us.

Condo was as described - spacious, well located, great views, near barbecues, pool and beach.

Comfortable. Kitchen very well supplied. Plenty of clean linens and bath towels. A collection of coolers, beach chairs, beach shoes, and floaters appreciated. Crib/playpen new and clean. Corner unit a real plus.

Good for Family Reunion

Property is dated but still in good condition. Property management firm responded slowly to requests but eventually came through. Location is terrific, views cannot be beat. Beach erosion is an ongoing issue throughout this part of the island.

Large unit with great view

Stayed February 20 thru March 2, had 4 adults. We were to be a group of 6, but 2 were not able to go, so we had more than enough room for relaxing and stretching out and was comfy and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Condo had everything that was needed for cooking meals. The view was fantastic. Whales, dolphins, sea turtles were seen daily. AC was never needed. Open the windows and the trade winds are all you need. Miso Phat Sushi across the street was phenomenal! Thank you Rob for sharing your Sands of Kahana condo unit.

Had everything my family needed

We had a fabulous time during our stay here. It had everything that my growing family could have asked for. The apartment was SPACIOUS....and that's a bit of an understatement We were a party of five and the apartment could have easily slept double that number. Between the lanai with 10 seat dining table, living room with two large sofas, dining area with bar stools and the spacious kitchen, there was plenty of space for everyone to sprawl out after a day at the beach.

My wife, who is a bit of a neat freak/germaphobe, especially now with an infant in tow, was most pleasantly surprised at the level of cleanliness of the place. And given that the resort was built in the 80s or 90s, the unit was in remarkably well-maintained.

If you like to cook, this is your place. The kitchen is large enough to fit several cooks and came with all the cookware, utensils, spices and seasonings one can hope for. We just needed to get the steaks. We had a great time drinking and eating out on the lanai and watching the sunset.

And the sunset views from the apartment were breathtaking...the pictures on this property description are legit. Taking coffee out on the lanai, watching the sunrise every morning to watch the surfers was a pleasure. We kept the windows open throughout our stay to let the ocean breeze in and to hear the crashing of the waves. ....between that and the killer views, we literally felt the stress melt away while we stayed here.

A pleasant surprise was that the unit also came fully stocked with beach gear--chairs, mats, boogie boards, a cooler, umbrellas, foam tubes, water shoes, and snorkels and masks. They all came in handy and it was great that we didnt need to bring any gear from home.

The unit is centrally located in West Maui--everything essential was nearby, the convenience stores, gas stations, markets and restaurants. While the beach at the resort gets a little rough and much of it is hidden during high tide, this is Maui...a good beach is just a short walk or drive away including beautiful Kaanapali and Napili Bay.

If you are a large party or family, I would not hesitate booking this place. Thank you Rob and Virginia, for a fantastic stay. We hope to return in the near future!

Needs an update

I just got back from staying at this property for 7 days in Jan 2017. You walk in and the view is absolutely amazing!! The beds are very comfortable and the quilts are new. The price is good for the view.

Unfortunately, the property needs a major, major update. It also needs a major cleaning. I took pictures while I was there of the mold in the bathroom, wall paper peeling off the walls, wood peeling off doors and dirty spots that could be cleaned easily. When I looked under the kitchen cabinets to turn on the lights, it was filthy, the hinges under the sink were filthy from the garbage can, even the kitchen sink was dirty, but with a little scrubbing it was cleaner. This is really due to the people that clean this unit. Even the power cord on the floor was filthy, which takes little time to clean everything. The table on the outside lanai was held together with duck tape. I did not want to give this review, but unfortunately it needs to be said and people need to know what they are walking into.

All in all it was a good stay, but was hard to get past the mold and dirty unit. The outside landscaping and beach is wonderful. We saw whales everyday while we sat on our lanai, and a turtle on the beach. There is a good restaurant on the property that had great food and nice happy hour!

The owners were great at getting back to us and the whole process of booking, making payments, and information were great!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your feedback. We, the owners, do not live on Maui and cannot get to our place as often as we would like so we greatly appreciate the feedback. We rely heavily on our on site property manager, Sullivan Properties, and their property management service but it looks like they and their maids did not do a good job cleaning our unit before your arrival or letting us know of your concerns. We were disappointed to hear about your issues as we have used Sullivan Properties for over 10 years. We have discussed your comments with them and they will address our issues so there will be no problems for our future guests. On our end, we scheduled a deep cleaning of our place next week so the cleaning service can take their time and properly clean the unit for future guests. We started to paint the unit this past December and we have scheduled additional paintings this March and May. This past October, we did purchase new mattresses and bedding so we are glad to hear you found the beds comfortable. Also, this week, we purchased a new patio table and chairs for our lanai. We are very sorry that these issues manifested during your stay at our place. We realize many of these items could have been avoided if there was some good old fashioned attention to detail. Sullivan Properties is aware of this and we are confident they will make the necessary changes to ensure future guests will not encounter the same issues.

The 14% tax is Hawaii General Excise Tax and the Tourist Occupancy Tax. The $220 maid cleaning fee is one time only. The $60 room key fee is a standard, one time rate for all rooms rented at the Sands of Kahana that gives you access to the pools, Jacuzzi, gym, barbeque pits, volleyball courts and patio furniture on the beach and by the pool. We typically ask for 25% down to reserve your dates. A second payment is typically due halfway between the time you book and your arrival date. Your final payment of the rest of the rental amount plus the $50 refundable security deposit is due around 45 days before your first rental date. We typically like to rent to no more than a total of 10 adults and/or children. We do allow more than 10 people in our place, however, there is an extra cost of $20 per person, per night over the total occupancy of 10 adults and/or children to cover our increased utility costs along with the wear and tear of our unit. Please call us if you would like to discuss having more than 10 people in our unit. If you want to rent for less than the minimum stay between our current bookings we can negotiate with you on this.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
