Perfect Spot for Girls Weekend & Sea Glass Hunting!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for renting us your perfect home at the beach! We arrived on Friday around 7pm in January - in the dark...the sky was lit up with stars. I have never seen anything quite like it. We found a welcome note from Maura, the neighbor, who knew we were in town hoping to find some sea glass! I called her and she gave us some great tips on where to look and then we headed to Barbara's On The Bay for dinner. We had a great dinner and Barbara was so sweet and lent us her flashlight so we could go look on the beach after dinner. We had a great night of sleep after our late night hunt on the beach - I slept in the double bed and it was so comfortable! The next morning we hit the road at 5:30am to go beach combing. We went to Betterton beach down the street first - and stayed for probably 1.5 hours and we each found a nice handful of glass. Then we headed to Tolchester Beach - which at high tide was not worth it! Maybe it would be good at low tide - but we didn't go back. Then we went down to Rock Hall - and we had fun hunting for seaglass and other treasures there. We had success in finding bottles still in tact - down at Eastern Neck park...I found a bottle dated from the 1930's and one of my friends found one - perfect condition - from the 1800's!! (there is a site that can date these bottles) After that we came back to the house - refreshed and sat around the living room laughing and checking out the Roku (I haven't used one before - super cool!) After relaxing for a bit - we went back to Betterton Beach at low tide. We walked forever and got so many pieces of seaglass and other treasures. We had a quick bite at Marzellas pizza and then came home to have cocktails and early bed - for more hunting the next morning. We crossed the bridge on the way home and went to Sandy Point - another great spot for hunting and then a breakfast at Miss Shirley's in Annapolis. So while we didn't stay much in the house - when we did - we felt welcomed and comfortable. The house was clean and had basic supplies you would need - and the double bed was soooo comfortable. Thank you for everything! We hope to come back soon for another weekend of seaglass hunting!

Very affordable vacation house

  • 4 of 5

The information about the house was very accurate. It is just a short walk from the beach and our grandkids really enjoyed playing in the sand. The house was very clean and the kitchen was adequately supplied with the necessities for cooking. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Cottage close to beautiful Betterton Beach

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Betterton Beach House for Labor Day weekend. Remarkably, the beach is not very busy - perfect for us to enjoy a weekend getaway from work with our three small children. The house was the perfect size for our 5-person family - we used all but one of the bedrooms. Another family could have joined us but we would have had to use the pullout couch downstairs to accommodate everyone.

The house's location is perfect and a short walk to the beach. The owners provided almost everything that we needed other than food - a very welcome aspect for busy parents! The owners also kindly allowed us to check in early on very short notice - very much appreciated. The beauty of the house is in the imagination of its history - hardwood floors, plaster walls, etc and it is clear that the owners are working to update and care for some aging areas of the home. Overall we had a lovely stay and are already talking about coming back next year. Thank you for facilitating our wonderful family memories!

Owner's Response: We're so glad you and your family were able to enjoy the house and beach! Our family memories of Betterton go back to when our children were building sand castles and splashing in the bay. Now we have a grandson who visits - new memories! Betterton is a great place for families!

Charming beach home close to all the attractions of the "Eastern" shore.

  • 4 of 5

This home is located in the small town of Betterton, Maryland. The beach is almost within eye sight and only two short blocks away. While there is only one restaurant or two in the town, the house is close to Chestertown, Maryland which has an abundance of everything including grocery stores, movie theater, restaurants, antique shops, and other historical attractions. The house is also near enough to the beaches of Delaware and Maryland for a day spent enjoying all the activities to be found along the coast.

The house itself has a real beach house feel. Very clean and stocked with more supplies such as towels, sheets, and extra blankets than I have found in other homes I have rented in the past. There is plenty of room for a large group and we never ran out of hot water. The laundry area is clean and has new front loading washer/dryer which makes doing laundry a breeze.

The house is very close to the beach and the beach has a nice sandy area to enjoy the bay with life guards and a pier to use for fishing. There are benches for sitting and watching the sun set in the evening. As a parent of three teenagers, it was nice to feel safe enough to let the kids roam around and enjoy the beach alone because of the life guards and the very safe feeling of the area,.

I very much enjoyed my stay in the Betterton house. The town is quiet and safe and the owner has thought of all the little things that make a visit special. The town itself is very small; however, we used it as our home base while we explored Rehoboth beach, Delaware, Ocean City, Maryland, St. Michaels, Chestertown, and Rock Hall. Most all, we very much enjoyed the relaxed feel of the house. It is an older home and I very much appreciate the charm and character found in older homes. The kitchen was well stocked, the towels and sheets clean and found in abundance, and the town small and safe enough to let the kids roam around and not worry. The house also had a Roku device which allowed us to log into our accounts and watch favorite TV shows or Movies during the evenings as we relaxed after day trips to other towns on the "Eastern" shore.

We stayed during one of the hottest weeks of the summer and the house stayed nice and cool. I will stay here again because the house is an excellent value, located in a nice and quiet area, and safe enough to let my teenagers roam around and enjoy the beach without worrying about their safety.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Mitchell! We love the fact that we can get "anywhere" from Betterton for some really great day trips. But if we just want to hang out, the town is small enough and the house close enough to the beach that everyone can come and go as they please. Glad you had a good time! And hooray for a great AC!
