The Apartment is located in the Costa da Caparica, 20 Km south from Lisbon. By itself, the apartment is a great belvedere over the sea. It’s just 25 minutes away from the Lisbon International Airport, 25 minutes away from Lisbon’s center and 300 meters away from the sands of Costa da Caparica beaches.
On a 10th floor, with lift access, the apartment has one bedroom with a king size bed and 1 double sofa-bed in the lounge area. all amenities, a well-equipped kitchenette and a bathroom with bathtub and shower.
You can rent a bicycle or go surfing, windsurfing, golfing, bird watching, and much more, all in the surrounding area.
Just at your doorstep is the Bus Stop to Lisbon, has a supermarket and one pharmacy. Only a two-minutes walk away you can find restaurants, banks and the local market.
Positives: Apt. clean, tastefully decorated, spacious, with a well equipped modern kitchen. Storage exceeded what we needed. Owner pleasant and responds quickly. Porch hammock has terrific view thru beautiful new windows. Nightly sunset is the apt’s biggest asset! Well maintained building inside, beautiful beach with clean deep white sand and wild surf, better than the wimpy waves of Cascais! Plenty of room on the beach weekdays. Surfing school provides entertainment watching surfers learn! Beach is 518 meters away (850 footsteps). Wifi connection is fast.TV has English-speaking news and movie channels. Included were deck chairs, umbrella and windbreaker. Little mini-market right in the building with late opening hours. Another slightly larger mini-market close by. Several buses conveniently terminate right outside the apartment. One goes to Lisbon, another to the ferry for Lisbon. Couldn’t figure out where the others go. A ticket on the bus is 3.60€, but half that when buying a pass. Lisbon has good transportation to the airport and surrounding areas such as Sintra, Cascais & Fatima.
Negatives: Neighborhood dogs bark incessantly from all directions from several dogs, more noticeable at night. Stray dogs roam the streets, and the beach. Dog droppings are all along the streets. Near the terminus, is an opening that leads to homeless make-shift shacks in the back of a field. Not sure if the stray dogs are from there.
Apt. walls are thin. ALL sounds in the adjoining apartments are clearly heard such as a chair moving away from a table, shower curtains being drawn, sliding glass doors closing, etc. When in the bedroom, could swear someone is walking around elsewhere in the apartment. Fortunately, our neighbors were not rowdy. Right before the beach, area is unsightly with tractor parking, trash and graffiti. Fishermen work there with their nets and catch. Smell can be bad but does not travel to the beach.
In June, streets had knee-high weeds growing through cobbled pavement cracks. Graffiti abounds. Some homes are slums, others are well maintained. Apt. assoc’s (this one included) needs to maintain the outside grounds sooner than late July. The ferry to Lisbon, is filthy; sadly well-dressed people have to take it to get to work. Currently renting Aug and Sep beachfront in Spain with better value by about 25%, perhaps partially because we booked Portugal through VRBO. You will enjoy your stay, if you can look past the negatives!
We knew the area very well - so the apartment was exactly what we needed.
The village is not great, but some restaurants are. And connection to Lisbon is perfect.
Nice and clean apartment. Very good Wifi!!!
