About the property

Cozy upstairs bay view flat in large older Monterey home. This flat is our residence and work place when we are in Monterey. It is available a maximum of only twelve times each year and is a very cozy retreat for longer stays. It is not available for short stopovers. *** It is suitable for two guests, no small children, no pets. Since we live in the flat there are personal items around the home, and we trust that they will be respected. There is no smoking in the house, and no loud music or voices to respect the neighbors.This is an older family home lived in and repaired continuously for 100 years. It is charming and very clean, everything works well, but it is not condo perfect! There is a lovely garden to enjoy.

The house is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. It is easy walking distance to Monterey Bay, numerous small beaches and scenic spots, as well as Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, excellent restaurants, antique stores, and all basic shopping needs. The recreational trail along the bay is nearby and leads to Monterey, downtown Pacific Grove, and beyond. There is a lot to explore! It can also be a charming retreat. There is a permit which allows parking on the street in front of the house. The bus stop where you catch the bus to the Monterey downtown central bus depot is one and a half blocks away. Busses from there go to Carmel, Big Sur, the local shopping centers, the airport, and more.

Quaint old home with our flat on the top floor. Great view of the Bay.

If you like older homes with unique floor plans and features this is an awesome rental. Great bed and comfortable furnishings. Suitable for a couple who enjoy a little quirkiness. Very busy street corner with the fire department just around the corner and it was a busy week for them.

We would stay there again.

Charming older apartment

This was a lovely little apartment with nice views, well-stocked kitchen and a charming feel. A renter should be very aware that this is an older apartment and has the "quirks" one should expect from that type of home. One such 'quirk' is the apartment's thin walls. The area is not noisy but you certainly hear everything that happens outside. Additionally, some small children were staying in the apartment below. Not sure if they were visitors or permanent residents, but if the latter, certainly be prepared to wake up to kids voices in the morning. This was not a problem for us since we tend to wake up early anyway, but worth knowing about.

Spacious, well-located, view of water, quiet.

We had a lovely stay here. The place had everything we needed except a microwave. It was a bit funky--no door on the bedroom, no bed frame, etc, but that was part of the charm. We did not meet the owner. Laurette was super. She answered our many questions and was very quick to respond. Thank you Laurette! We could walk to everything from here except for a laundromat. It was great. We would definitely stay here again. We did not meet the owner but she seemed a bit scattered.

Delightful Monterey flat with fantastic view of Monterey Bay

Our holiday vacation was made ideal with our stay in this lovely flat. Centrally located on a quiet residential street, we were less than a five-minute drive from all of our favorite eateries, activities and preferred routes (foot, bike and car). The area is highly walkable, from below Lighthouse to the park at the top of the hill, and the neighborhood presents a particularly welcoming atmosphere. The flat itself feels larger and more open than the images on the site might convey, and the surrounding garden and grounds are absolutely lovely. Old-world charm of period windows and fixtures combined with all the necessary modern amenities made for exactly the clean, cozy, romantic getaway we were looking for, and without feeling cramped or wanting for any conveniences. Lyn and company are extremely responsive, understanding regarding arrival windows (ours was a 7-hour drive plagued by road work and other delays), genuinely friendly and attentive to all the details that made our stay so memorable and pleasant. We’re already looking forward to our next stay. Thank you, Lyn - much appreciated.

Perfectly located, charming flat in Monterey

We had a wonderful stay in Lyn's apartment. The location was perfect, walking distance to the aquarium, Cannery Row and shops, restaurants and grocery stores. The house is charming, the view from the bay is nice, and parking was easy on the street. We highly recommend staying at Lyn's place! She was very quick to reply to our questions and very accommodating re. our arrival schedule.
