Overview

About the property

Main house with MIL on the ground floor with a Bunk House steps away.

Pristine view and just steps from fishing right off the bank of the famous Kenai River. This property is very conveniently located in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula. Just minutes away from the small town conveniences such as restaurants, groceries, etc. This property is a great base accommodation for your whole Alaskan vacation. From halibut and salmon fishing to white water rafting to bird watching, guided or not, this is it! You could be just about any where on the Kenai Peninsula and do just about anything you can dream of with very little effort and minimal time frames. You will feel like you are in the wilds of Alaska and yet relaxed with natural beauty all around.

The 145 feet of our private river bank front to fish off of with plenty of elbow room, view, or just relax and enjoy. It also has picnic table and benches, fire pit, fish cleaning table, and plenty of wild life to see. There is a your own extra freezer for your catch, satellite TV with a 55 inch HD flat screen, and wireless internet to stay in touch with. You will also have your own kitchenette for your fresh catch and for times you would rather just stay in. Also your own private new washer and dryer for your convenience.

Our one bedroom mother-in-law apartment (Bear Den) has accommodation for 4 to 5 people. The apartment has queen size bed and 2 twin size bunk beds. There is a very large comfortable couch and a rollout bed if necessary to suit your needs.

WE ALSO HAVE OUR WOLF DEN CABIN/BUNK HOUSE JUST STEPS AWAY TO ACCOMIDATE A LARGE FAMILY OR PARTY. These sleeping quarters come with a beautiful Kenai River view just 25 feet away from our Bear Den which will sleep 2 additional guests. This Wolf Den will not be available without the use of the Bear Den. This is because because the Wolf Den is a dry cabin without a bath or sink. It is warm, comfortable, and newly remodeled with a knotty pine interior and captain twin beds. It also has its own fridge and microwave and table and chairs for games and snacking. WI-FI, TV, AND INTERNET will be available.

The Bear Den is just one of our two apartment accommodations. We also have the Eagles Nest apartment on VRBO with the listing number 798980 in case you are interested in our property availability. This may be of value in case you have a very large group or party and need the whole property to use. Or maybe if you have some calendar or scheduling issues.

We are able to help you customize a package of adventures and side trips during your stay for you. We want you to have a great time and wonderful memories.

About The Owner

I am originally from Montana and my wife is from Donetsk, Ukraine. We have been married for 19 years as I write this. We have been blessed to own this prime property on the Kenai River. My wife and I are living on our estate as almost retirees. We have lived the Alaskan life for over 45 years now and love it. We also had looked all around the Kenai Peninsula for over 10 years before we found just the right property to live on for the rest of our lives.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2013

Why The Owner chose Kenai Peninsula

This is our retirement property that we have been working for our entire adult lives. We have been Alaskans for 45 years and just love the Kenai Peninsula. We call it a little piece of Heaven. This property is one of the oldest established fishing spots on the Kenai River from back in the days of the Russian Trade. There still exists the old Russian Trail Head on our property. We wanted to have a great location for fishing. And this is where so much of the early Kenai River fishing started.

What makes this apartment unique

We have almost 2 acres of prime land to enjoy year round. It was love at first site here with my wife and I. I still remember the day we first set eyes on this property. A lone Eagle greeted us right in front of our picture window and it talked loudly for several minutes. And now over the years we have been here we see why they love it here. Lots of food for them and wonderful conditions to mate and raise their young.

Our property has the perfect views of the Kenai River and all the mountains around us. Just the right amount of easy trail down to the fishing hole just in front of our home. There is a never ending life from the wilds of Alaska to see each day. We can see the King Salmon nesting and breaking water just in front and along our side of the river. Eagles galore about the area as well as so many other birds. There is always some thing to look at or do here. Not a dull life living here. It is relaxing though.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved the peacefulness of the river and no traffic noise. This place is amazing with a great Alaskan experience. Thanks for letting us stay and spend time with your family in such a great nature environment. Totally recommend this place for future guests. Thanks again for all that you do. You are great Alaskan Americans! God Bless

Amazing view, amazing hosts

  • 5 of 5

Ron and Katya have thought of everything and are the perfect hosts. They go above and beyond for their guests to make sure they have the best vacation possible. Accommodations were very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. The property has an amazing view, and the fire pit makes a perfect place to sit and relax in the evenings. We would absolutely recommend this vrbo!

Owner's Response: Thank you Amanda for your review. We loved having your wonderful family enjoy a fishing vacation here in Alaska. I was inspired to see how well everyone did on catching all that salmon to fill the freezer. It was great to share our property with you as it is a little piece of heaven to us. Ron and Katya

Awesome!!!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing! I am a previous resident of Alaska and haven't been back in years. Growing up in Alaska, I was big on fishing and being back in the Kenai and taking in the breath-taking view from this place nearly brought me to tears as I took in the beauty and majesty of the place. The house was super clean and immaculate - perfect in every way! And everything you need to have a great fishing experience is all there - the location is very nice - I went when the sockeye run wasn't all that great (wish I came a little later in July to hit the 2nd run of sockeye) but even when the runs were low and people at the Russian River were catching literally nothing, the fishing spot at this cabin had a good number of sockeye and we were able to take a few back home! I am definitely going to be coming back again - I came back home to California just a couple days ago and I'm already missing this place!

Owner's Response: Thank you for you thoughtful message to Eagle's Eye. We almost teared up ourselves with the kind words you wrote about your stay. It was a very nice surprise to us. We really enjoy getting everything fixed up just right for our guests. We did not even have a chance to meet yet you found your way around the property with no problems. And from the pictures of your family, a great time was had by all. You are welcome anytime to come back. Ron and Katya

All the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to Alaska and Ron and Katya were the perfect hosts. Their little piece of heaven on the Kenai was the perfect spot for us to call home base and travel each day to the many different areas of the Kenai peninsula. This home is very well kept, has everything you could possibly need and sits right on the Kenai River. We stayed a week and loved every minute of it.

Ron and Katya have thought of everything! The place was immaculate and the location on the river was amazing. We especially enjoyed the stacked firewood and fire pits late each evening. It was very clean and welcoming! We would definitely stay there again.

Going above and beyond

  • 5 of 5

Even though we were first timers to visit Alaska, Ron made sure we knew everything to be successful in fishing in the Kenai. It was a great stay with awesome views of the river. We loved our stay and the hospitality was first class. If you want a great place to stay with great fishing, great views, and above and beyond services this is the place for you.

This is fishing heaven. The summer is when the salmon run and people want to catch them. There is world class trout fishing here too! Ocean fishing is just a short hop to a multi species deep water safaris. Seward and Homer are on both sides of Sterling, and bam, your in the middle of a fishing adventure.

Lots of other things to do if fishing is not what you want to do every day. There is hiking galore with trail heads all over the Kenai Peninsula. White water Rapids at 6 mile or just a lesurly drift boat ride down the Kenai or Kasilof Rivers. Boat tours to see glaciers and animals of the sea. Big time bear viewing guided tours where you can get up REAL CLOSE if you dare! Play a game of golf just down the road at a nice course. How about some horse back riding. If you want to canoe, the Swanson Lake System has a lot to offer.

There is an endless supply of adventure if you want to have some fun here in Alaska. We can try and help you out, just give us a go. We are very able to customize your whole vacation here in Alaska.
