Great Lake Cabin and cute guest house 20' from lake wobegon

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Two hours North of the Twin Cities on a Long Lake between Burtrum and Swanville. Long Lake is an exceptionally clean lake with excellent fishing and swimming. I caught and released a 29.5' walleye a couple of years ago, which is not uncommon in this lake. There are also a ton of crappies and sunnies, as well as northern pike and large mouth bass. This lake has little boat traffic and also has a restaurant on it.

The cabin and guest house are 20 feet from the lake with level access. The dock has a boat lift that will support an 18 foot boat. The road access is on a quiet frontage road that is very nice for walks and an bike ridding.

There are two bedrooms in the main cabin. One with a queen bed, the other with a full size and an single above. Both rooms have plenty of closet space. There is also a guest house with a full size bed and a bunk bed.

Great for swimming, tubing, wake boarding, skiing, canoeing... why, very little boat traffic and very clear water.

The kitchen is fully equipped and includes dishes, glasses, flatware, plates, pots and pans...

We rent by the week or month only. There is a cleaning fee of $100.

Great Lake Cabin and cute guest house 20' from lake wobegon
average rating of 3.75 based on 4 reviews

Rustic cabin with 70s decor that is cute. Window AC units in the bedrooms only. Rest is hot!

Not private as the picture shows. This cabin is sandwiched between two lake houses. Each had company at times. You can see in their windows and they can see in your's. Septic tank had to be pumped which smelled bad in the cabin for a day. No fishing or swimming from the dock as the weeds and green slim covered the water. Minimum cooking utinsles. We bought aluminum tins to cook with in the oven. We left the cabin clean. However, we were charged over $300 for damages that I know for a fact did not occur. If you chance this place take before and after pictures. We wish we had. No TV, wifi or washer/dryer. Again, not secluded or private.

Owner's Response: We regret that this stay did not work out for you or for us. We do not agree with your comments about the cabin and most of your assertions are factually incorrect. Your booking was for two adults. The septic tank was emptied before your stay. In your two weeks, it was filled up. Usually it takes one month to fill the septic tank with multiple guests each week. We have stayed there ourselves many weeks for the past ten years and the cabin next door for 25 years. It does not smell when the septic tank is being pumped. We have never had any complaints about pumping odor. As we explained to you by email, we have known our cleaner for many years and she cleans for many reputable families in the area. She is the person who reported vomit found in the bathroom and bunkhouse. Both her teenaged daughters also witnessed the damage. Both buildings were littered and dishes were put back dirty in the cabinets. A hand painted parchment lamp was broken. Her comment was that it was the dirtiest she had ever seen any cabin. All of the beds in both cabin and bunkhouse were used with multiple changes of bedding. This was unexpected since the booking was for two people only. Clean sheets were thrown onto the floor. As we state in our listing, this is a very quiet, residential lake. Both neighbors have been there for over 25 years and are well known and respected in the area. One side is our parents (President of the Lake Association for the past 10 years). Our parents were actually not at the lake for most of your stay and rarely entertain at the cabin outside of 4th of July. There is a lattice fence between one property and the cabin and a tall hedge of pine trees between the other neighbor and the cabin. You cannot see in the windows from either neighbor home into the cabin. The cabin is 20 feet from the lake and has a long view. Passing boats might look into the windows if they stare but this has never happened to us. We have fished and swum from the dock many times and you can see from previous reviews that multiple guests have enjoyed this. Depending on the weather and the wind, there may be weeds at various times. As we also explained to you, we have been renting out our cabin for several years and this is the first time we have made any claim for damages. You are correct that there is no TV, wifi or washer/dryer.

Very quiet, very clean, nice lake.

For most of the time it felt like we were the only people on the lake. Cabin has great views of the lake which is only about 20 feet away. A bonus was a big electrical storm over the lake one evening.

accurate description, May want to say there is Air Conditioningin main cabin

  • 4 of 5

First and foremost, I personally do not like to go to cabins. However, our children wanted to go, they love it, so we found this cabin, it looked nice, had plenty of room, a guest house, air conditioning, a boat slip, and so much more. I found out I actually enjoyed it. It is on a small lake, full of fish! The fishing was awesome. The lake is clear. It was fun to swim in. You could drive up to a dock and go just up a hill to a restaurant . They also went skiing, tubing. At the cabin was a fire pit, ladder golf and a basketball court. There was also a canoe that the kids took out and fished from too. We were never bored. I know our family would like to go back. The cabin was clean and had everything you needed. It was a fun place to spend a week with your family if you like to be on the water or in the water also if you like to Fish! You also have a full kitchen.
