A Historic Cabin on a Stream Bank on 1400 Acre Private Ranch!

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

This original homestead cabin sets on the stream bank, and is part of a 1400 acre working cattle ranch. The cabin is in a completely private location with beautiful mountain and stream views. The ranch has almost a mile of Beaverhead Riverfront, and a private pond. Several miles of this small spring creek run through the ranch. You can literally fish from your front yard!

The cabin is a one room cabin, but fully self contained with a small kitchenette, bathroom, queen bed, and a TV and phone. It has heat for those chilly mornings, and a ceiling fan for cooling.

You can go to the Big Trout Ranch web site and read more reviews.

We are fully booked for 2017, but please inquire if you are interested in being on a wait list.

Amazing, secluded cabin, awesome fishing location

  • 5 of 5

Went for a solo fishing vacation and found this gem of a location with direct access to the Beaverhead river from the cabin. An hour drive to the Ruby and Big Hole and less than 2 hrs to the Madison. Cynthia and John are fantastic with loads of helpful information. A definite return for me. Waking up to the calls of Sandhills cranes and honking of Canadian geese adds to the experience.

Excellent retreat in beautiful location

First of all, the Hosts, Cynthia and John are the best. Very helpful from day one with helpful information about the ranch and surrounding area. Very detailed regarding the fishing opportunities on the ranch and the type of wildlife that can be seen. Just really a nice couple that love their ranch.

The cabin is cozy, clean and well appointed with furnishings. Everything you need is here except for the food. The surrounding grounds are well kept with green grass and flowers etc, and also comes with a family of Rabbits. We did hear at night, a den of Fox pups and an occasional coyote. If you are a bird watcher, this is the place for you.

Also, close to Twin Bridges to the north (grocery had everything we needed) and Dillon to the south.

We were very pleased with the Osborne's and the cabin. We highly recommend!

We are returning next year!!

This is one of our absolute favorite get aways!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at the vintage cabin twice and both times it has been an incredible getaway and vacation. We caught gorgeous healthy trout out of the spring creek right outside the front door of the cabin, we took our dog swimming in the pond within walking distance of the cabin, and enjoyed the incredible views and peacefulness of the cabin. The cabin is stocked with everything you need but still has that rustic feel. We already have plans to visit again this fall and we can't wait! John and Cynthia are incredible hosts and make us feel right at home and we always enjoy visiting with them when we come. It is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy nature, fishing, and relaxation!

Owner's Response: Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with others. We very much appreciate that you took the time to post a review of Big Trout Ranch. We will look forward to seeing you again, and are flattered that you are returning in September. That hog of a fish, Charlie, will likely be waiting for you :) Cynthia
