Lakes End Lodge is at the south end of historic Loon Lake, which is a private lake in the High Peaks of the New York State Adirondack Mountain Park.
Think of . . .
• Waking up to the sound of the lake lapping on the shore as the sun rises to greet you
• Lounging on the covered porch overlooking the lake while drinking your morning coffee
• Gazing at the loons as they take their morning swim into the adjacent cove
• Swimming from your private sandy beach
• Casting a line from your dock or a fly in a nearby running stream
• Kayaking along the glassy lake surface as you explore the winding shoreline
• Taking a walk through the wooded forest next to the Lodge
• Hiking the many trails in the area offering novice to expert challenge
Our lake side home offers endless possibilities to satisfy your sense of adventure, your children’s curiosities or your need to relax in solitude.
Lakes End Lodge is a 1,700 square foot one level home situated directly on the waters edge at the end of Blue Spruce Drive next to 200 acres of untouched forest. In 2004 after extensive interior renovations Greg and Debbie turned what was an un-kept, un-finished cabin into a beautiful four bedroom Adirondack style home.
The open plan living / dining room has a 35ft windowed wall along the lake with double glass doors opening to the covered porch. The living room features a traditional floor to ceiling natural stone fireplace with knotty pine walls that lead to a vaulted lattice ceiling dining area that seats ten.
The kitchen looks beyond the dining area to the lake and has a dishwasher and microwave oven as well as a refrigerator, gas range and a large pantry.
The lakeside master bedroom offers a queen size bed and sitting area.
The First guest bedroom has double full size beds
The Second guest bedroom has a queen size bed, a wicker rocker and opens directly on to the screened porch
The children’s room contains a bunk bed.
All three of the “adult” bedrooms face the lake. There is a stack washer dryer and all bedrooms have ample closets.
The bathroom near the guest bedrooms includes a stall shower as well as one of the two claw foot bathtubs.
This home was an opportunity to enjoy the magnificence of the Adirondack high peaks which we enjoyed with a yearly summer vacation as children.
Greg Campofranco purchased this cottage in 2005
This property is a one of a kind serene getaway home on a very quiet private lake with an amazing mountain view. Located on the waters edge this home cannot be duplicated and is a treasure to enjoy.
Lakes End Lodge delivered everything promised and more. The swimming is exceptionally good - the area around the dock is sandy and clear for a substantial distance as the water becomes gradually deeper, but is deep enough to jump in off the dock and swim in too. There were several boat options and plenty of (large) life jackets. The mountain roads snaking through the woods right outside the door are quiet, empty of traffic, seemingly endless, and beautiful, with a rocky stream within half a mile of the house. Lots of hiking in the area. The property feels very private for a lake dotted with other houses, as it is the last house before the undeveloped side of the lake begins and is tucked into a little cove. The screened porch and unscreened porch both were large and accommodated a number of chairs with plenty of extra space and had excellent views of the lake and mountains. The house is open and spacious with plenty of eating space for 8. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, dishes, etc. Great home in a great location.
Lake's End Lodge is nicely decorated and comfortable furnishings. Good location on lake and lovely yard with new deck. However, there are some maintenance issues: The kitchen stove is antiquated and troublesome to get the burners on and to regulate, the oven (the door especially) was a real issue. The shades in the bedrooms were either broken, not working or not there. The other issue we had with this property was that the owner took a month to return our security deposit (which was much higher than any I have ever paid!). We have rented many times in that area and always had the deposit returned within a week or two. I was wondering if we would ever see it since the owner did not respond to my inquiry about it by phone or email. After repeated attempts to contact the owner, it was finally returned.
Lakes End Lodge is located west of NYS Route 3 just 20 minutes north of Saranac Lake and 35 minutes from the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Both villages offer shopping, dining as well as proximity to famous Adirondack attractions such as the Ausable River, High Falls Gorge, Whiteface mountain, Keen Valley or the ski jump at the Olympic Village.
If a major shopping source is the objective Plattsburgh and Lake Champlain are just 40 minutes north and feature a Lowes, Marshalls, Wal Mart in addition to a multiplex movie theatre, bowling lanes and multiple restaurants.
You could also hike, golf, horseback ride, rock climb or just relax . . . its all here if you so choose.
