Our cottage is located on a large, beautifully landscaped lakefront lot with plenty of space to stretch out. Enjoy the sandy beach that runs the width of the lot, sit by the campfire, roast marshmallows in the evening or set up a picnic lunch at the beach side table. ~ Unique to our lakefront cottage is a private dock with 12 Passenger Pontoon Boat, all waiting on the 100' private sand beach!!! Also great as a fishing boat. ~ The deck overlooks Saddle Lake, has two outside tables, an extra fridge/freezer, large bbq grill (propane NOT included). ~ The living room has a couch, 2 large chairs, cozy fireplace, television with satellite & DVD, boardgames & puzzles, stereo system with CD changer and a nice slection of DVD movies. ~ Fully equipped Kitchen includes Stove, Fridge, Micro, cookware, dishes, glasses, utensils, coffee maker, toaster and other kitchen essentials to make you feel at home. ~ Master bedroom overlooks Saddle Lake with a sliding glass door and balcony, flat screen satellite TV/DVD player, large closet, the queen bed is a locally crafted log bed with matching side tables. ~ The Guest bedroom has a queen bed, large closet, Bose stereo and desk. ~ The 'Kids Room' has 6 twin beds, large flat screen satellite TV/DVD player, makes a great guestroom for kids. ~ The Downstairs bedroom has 2 twin beds, flatscreen satellite TV/DVD player, sliding glass door leading to the Lake and an additional outside seating area, bathroom with shower and a foose ball table.

Wonderful stay

  • 4 of 5

Our experience at Saddle Lake was very pleasant. The home is nice and despite the age, is fun and well-kept. The large room with all of the twin beds was a fun place for our kids to sleep and it was decorated in a cute way. The foosball table was a plus. The pontoon was a lot of fun and ran great. We loved that there were sand toys available for the kids. Jim, the property manager, was nice and very helpful. He was around a lot, which we did not mind. Our only issue was that a tornado touched down 1/4 mile from the house and there was no warning. We were relieved to be safe but we had a power outage for 12 hours. No one is to blame but it made for a long day and night. Overall, we recommend this property to anyone looking for a great family get-away on a lake with a fun beach and lots of space.

Great Value, Perfect Stay!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a great value and fun relaxing weekend this was the house. For the last 5 years a group of us in our late 30's (couples and friends from high school) rent a house in the woods, beach, or lake. This year the group wanted to find something on a lake that had a boat and we didn't want to spend a ton of money. A lot of the places we were looking at were 500 - 600 dollars a day, but you had to rent for the week.

This cottage was all in under 2k and came with the boat and we had it for 3 nights so with 8 adults it ended up being 225 a piece for the whole stay.

Cons: Not Many, when you first pull up the curb appeal is none and you will be suspicious. The lake water does have high growing plants and lily pad in some parts. the beds were not firm, but oh well! No internet unless you have a hot spot. Houses are pretty close to each other, but large properties.

Pros: Great value for the price. Huge yard and private beach on Saddle Lake with a fire pit. Huge Deck and grill, Comes with a pontoon boat ,not super fast, but fun to cruise along the lake or anchor down to go swimming. The house inside has 2 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, a down stairs converted bedroom with 2 beds and a private bathroom, and one large converted attached garage that had 6 beds in it. so we were fine with 8 people or 2 families with kids would be fine, as the converted attached garage is where all the kids could sleep. 10 minutes east of South Haven. The manager of the property was nice and easy to get along with. The water was a nice temperature and calm

Recommendations: We would definitely go back, but here is what we learned. I would make sure at least one smartphone has a personal hotspot for internet use, we brought our own kuerig machine and had everyone pick up K cups (worked well), bring beach towels, bring bug spray for nighttime. If you don't like feeling weeds in the water I recommend bring water socks. If you own jet skis there is a landing on one side of the lake to drop them in. If you like to fish... there are Bass and Blue Gil in the lake.

Wrap up... We are well traveled and overall we thought the place was a great value. If your looking to stay at the Ritz probably not the best selection, if your looking to spend most of your time inside not the place to stay, but if you want to spend time on the lake with a group of friends and just have a good time this place has everything you need and was well kept inside!

Great property for outdoor activities next to beautiful lake with pontoon boat

  • 4 of 5

Had a great stay with family. The house is old but pretty well kept up. The back lawn is beautiful and the pontoon boat is a nice perk. The back deck is very large and has plenty of space for dining. The only negative of the property is that we had zero phone reception and no internet connections. Had to drive several minutes to pick up reception and/or access internet - not too much of a problem if you're looking to disconnect while on vacation.

Beautiful, Perfect Family Set-Up!

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 families had an awesome time at this home. The kid's loved the 6-bed room, and everyone else fit comfortably. The lawn and lake are what set this apart. Beautiful space for the kids to run around, play volleyball on the lit court, go boating, fishing, swimming etc. Couldn't have asked for a better getaway. We will be back soon!

Nicely decorated cottage but very disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We planned out 2015 girls weekend at this lake cottage. The home itself is very nice and so is the property but that's where it ends. The lake is mucky and cannot be accessed from the property because of the muck and the weeds. The boat was available but is in terrible condition, dirty with mold everywhere and the battery had to be replaced immediately and the radio didn't work.

Top that off with the family owns the property next door and allowed a group of 25 young adults to wrap up their summer at the cottage next door and for what we paid we were very disappointed. Loud music and noise all day and night, unless we kept going over and asking them to keep it down.

There is a property manager who tries to be helpful and nice, but wasn't able to help much since we were dealing with family.

We've rented property up and down the west side of the state of Michigan and never had any of these types of issues. The west side of the state is a great area and we loved South Haven and St. Joseph's. We will return, just not to this property.

~ Saddle Lake is a 300 acre all sports lake with plenty of room for personal watercraft, speed

boats, fishing boats, etc.

~ The Kal-Haven trail is a 37 mile trail that runs from South Haven all the way to Kalamazoo!

This is a fantastic hiking and biking trail and is located one mile from the cottage.
