We are a family of 4 with 2 growing daughters 13 and 16. We live in Brooklyn, NY and love to getaway to the peace , quiet and comfort of Lake Owassa.
Michael Murphy purchased this house in 1996
We dreamed of owning a lake house and we explored this lake region for our lakeside getaway. We were thrilled to find Lake Owassa and this property (the lakeside cabin) in 1996. We love the quiet and beauty of Lake Owassa. We love to share this place with others and are thrilled when guests return year after year or when they buy a house on the lake and become neighbors. We are confident you too will enjoy our place and fall in love with lake Owassa.
Once you sit on an adirondack chair lakeside taking in the views of the lake, sky and woods you will know why we love this place. Read in the yurt. Walk aimlessly in the woods. Hike the Appalachian trail. Bike the windy country roads. Shop the antique stores. Buy Jersey tomatoes at the farm stands. Barbecue lunch and dinner on the patio. Laugh and talk with those you love in the lake, on the swim raft, on the lawn, on the dock, around the firepit, at the fireplace...
We just spent time at these two great cabins on Lake Owassa. Everything you need (and more) for an excellent lake vacation. Both the lakeside cabin and woodside cabin are very comfortable, with wonderful views. The lakeside yurt was well utilized for reading (and morning naps), with beautiful views of the lake. The swim dock was an extra bonus-spent a lot of time out there! We enjoyed both canoeing and kayaking. The lake is so clean, and we spent many hours swimming. Had lots of s'mores cooked on the firepit. There are plenty of local places for groceries, vegetables & fruits, bait, and (of course) ice cream! The few questions we had were answered promptly by the owner. We had a great time, and hope to revisit in the future!!!
Appalachian trail 1 mile from house. Peters Valley artist community 5 miles away. The Delaware water gap National Park is 5 miles away. The property borders Stokes state forest. Great country roads for bicycling and or running. Antiquing in Lafayette, NJ (8 miles away). The Walpack Inn (within Delaware water gap) is a fabulous and memorable restaurant for the whole family.
