This North Captiva Island vacation home was completely renovated and newly furnished in 2015. THE BEACH HOUSE is a relaxed, elegant 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home with incredible waterfront views and shallow beach at your doorstep ready and waiting to provide the perfect setting for the best vacation ever.

THE BEACH HOUSE is set in a tropical island paradise. Located just 3 miles offshore, part of the Lee Island Coast Barrier Chain. From the moment you arrive, you will feel as if you have been whisked away to a distant, peaceful, quiet tropical setting. Remote and undiscovered, North Captiva Island is accessible only by water taxi, private boat or small plane. This private island community is reminiscent of old Florida. It is home to an expansive nature preserve and surrounded by natural beauty. Explore the island by golf cart on our sandy native trails. Here, you will find no cars, no crowds or paved roads. North Captiva Island offers just enough amenities to suite your family needs. We welcome you to enjoy a truly memorable experience where a slower, relaxed pace is the norm.

The home offers wonderfully appointed furnishings and has 2600 square feet under A/C with more than 4200 square feet of living space including open decks on both floors and covered veranda on the main level. It was professionally renovated and decorated from top to bottom and completed in May 2015. Most everything in THE BEACH HOUSE is brand new, built for casual island living, with one of the best unobstructed waterfront views on the island.

If you enjoy cooking, you will love the all new, well equipped kitchen with brand new appliances, utensils, dinnerware and lots of Quartz counter space. The home has 3 flat screen TV's with Satellite Dish-TV and High Speed Wi-Fi. There is plenty of room to stretch out in the newly furnished living room, dining room and bedrooms. An expansive wrap around veranda, 2 roof level decks with sunrise and sunset views, outdoor shower and amazing large beach where dolphins play are waiting for your exclusive use. The sleeping arrangements are top notch accommodating 8 people with 1 extra large master bedroom with King bed and en-suite bath, 2 guest bedrooms each with Queen beds both with their own private en-suite baths and access to the outside decks, a 4th loft bedroom with twin beds as well as 2 Pack N Play's for babies. The main floor laundry room is equipped with a front load washer and dryer with a supply of laundry detergent as well as a sink for cleaning those treasures found on the beach.

THE BEACH HOUSE is a perfect venue for Weddings, Anniversaries, Romantic Getaways or a Family Vacation.

You won't want to leave this wonderful retreat.

About Shirley

Hi, we are Al & Shirley and reside in Toronto Canada. We purchased our first Florida vacation home in 2007 in Cape Coral and have been enjoying it with our family and friends ever since. In the summer of 2014 we took a trip to North Captiva Island and were hooked on its beauty and purchased this property which we lovingly renovated.

Shirley purchased this house in 2014

Why Shirley chose Captiva

Although it needed a lot of renovating, we chose this property for the location. Sitting on its own private beachfront was breathtaking and we saw the potential to make it something special.

Great waterside retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay enjoying the dolphins daily and even a manatee one morning. The house was clean, beatifully decorated and well equipped. The water was very calm for the kids to swim although they were sad not to have a pool. We spent our days on the beach, golf carting around the island, enjoying queenie's ice cream and family time. Now back to reality!

Owner's Response: THE BEACH HOUSE really is an escape! From exploring the Island, enjoying the wildlife and even an old fashion ice cream, one can relax and get away from the norm for a short while. We were happy to hear your family enjoyed spending time there. We hope to have you back again in future. Shirley & Al - Home Owners

North Captiva Island was unseasonably chilly and breezy but beautiful birds and wild life

  • 4 of 5

The house is lovely, it is decorated nicely and comfortable. We stayed for 10days which is too long given the sparse amenities, not having a grocery store was a challenge.

Paradise Lost

  • 2 of 5

I have no doubt what the reviewers of this property prior to August 11, 2017 have said about this listing is true. As these reviewers have stated, the house interior was completely renovated and the exterior painted in 2015. The floorplan is outstanding. Furnishings and the condition of the interior are that of a well-maintained home that has been rented over the past three years. There is some wear, such as a few scuffs on the walls, the dining room and kitchen rugs needing a cleaning soon and some of the wire stringers in the stairwell being loose or missing. The outside furniture and exterior paint job are aging from being used and exposed to the elements for 2+ years. The sound-side beach is ideal for young children.

Here are the items that we experienced on our stay at the beach house which I would recommend that potential renters inquire about before renting:

Not Disclosed - Major recent fire on adjoining properties (August 11, 2017). (You can Google for news accounts). Two homes were destroyed, a third home sustained major smoke damage, and six homes were threatened. Our rental house was next to the 2 homes that were destroyed. The 2 destroyed homes have been taken down to the pilings with small piles of rubble remaining in the fire area including next to our rental house. (Think of the recent national news reporting of the fires in California and you will get an idea of what the area next to our rental house looks like.) Our rental house shares a well and electrical line with the destroyed homes. This may be partial cause of our rental house’s water and electrical problems described below.

Water - The rental house shares a well with the two destroyed homes. The well is located on one of these properties. A temporary electrical line runs above ground from the rental house to the well. An outside C/B was tripping and shutting down the water for our entire stay. The C/B was replaced during our stay but did not solve the problem.

Electrical - Random power surges and power outages in the lighting and outlets in the MBR, LR, kitchen (except appliances), dining room, and outside of the house for our entire stay.

Direct TV - Did not work for the first five days of our stay until repairman arrived.

Internet - Did not work for our entire stay. The wireless router worked fine.

Upstairs smoke alarm - missing for our entire stay. (The home has a fire sprinkler system, but I am not sure how effective it would be if the water is off).

Owner's Response: Needless to say, we are disappointed at the tone this review sets. Although we really dislike to disagree with our guest, we have no choice but to respond to each point made. Not all guests who stay write reviews. The Beach House has in fact been occupied during the time span since the fire in August 2017 to present with no complaints. The damage and debris of the fire which destroyed two neighbouring homes was promptly cleaned up. Furthermore, these homes were located to the rear and side of our property and in no way impacts our guests. Comparing the properties to the image invoked of the California fires is really an unfair exaggeration. Shared wells are common on the island. Yes, there was a problem with the power to the pump, but was put right the same day within hours of being notified. The power surges and brown outs are out of our control but again nothing as described. For good measure, we had a licensed electrical contractor check the eletrical equipment through out. The Internet was working, maybe not as fast as our guest is used to on cable or fiber, but is adequate and as good as it gets on the island. The TV signal went down. This was reported immediately on Sunday and was repaired as quickly as the Service Provider could get a technician out on Tuesday. Not five days. The missing smoke detector located at the top of the staircase is redundant as a 2nd one at the bottom of the stairs was and is working. The missing one has now been replaced. We have never discounted the importance of looking after our guests. We regret that we were not able to satisfy this guest. Shirley & Al - Home Owners

Great house in an amazing location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to North Captiva and we loved it! The owners and property manager were very helpful and accommodating. The house was nice, spacious, and had amazing views. Having the beach right outside the door was very convenient and we had everything we needed to have a great vacation.

We traveled together with our family and family friends. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Was nestled in a perfect spot on the island, giving us beautiful views of the ocean! We had a blast and I am certain this vacation created a special memory for our kids. We will definitely carry the magic of the island with us! Thanks for an amazing stay!!

Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation at THE BEACH HOUSE. It is as nice as the pictures and more. We lounged on the back deck taking in the scenic views and watching dolphins.

Very relaxing and fun. We also explored the island on the golf cart, watched sunsets and met

nice and friendly people everywhere (good people at Barnacle Phil's and food is very good). Our host (the owners)made our preparations easy. Thanks S. We'll be back. No cars, lots of fish.
