About the property

Breath-taking Waterfront Property with Historic Cottage

Come enjoy this historic home and estate. The views are spectacular and will take your breath away! The property features a historic home, secluded privacy on over 11 acres of waterfront, mature trees and stunning views of the river.

The home is old and has all of the interesting nuances of a historic home that has been added onto over the years. Despite this, all major appliances, utilities, HVAC and equipment have been replaced within the last 4 years. The property itself sits atop a steep bank over the river which is part of the reason why the views are so stunning. At the base of the bank and directly adjacent to the property is a small public boat launch and a sandbar. At the other end of the property where the grade is more gentle you will find the boat slips, small boat shed and a sandy walk in for launching the smaller boats.

The covered pier is provided for guests who would like to bring their own boat. If you don't have your own boat feel free to use one of our kayaks, sunfish or canoe. Fishing is good and many guests have good luck directly off the pier. Others choose to paddle out to nearby Sharkstooth Island and fish along the way.

2015 was the first year we have offered the property to the public and the response has been overwhelming. Currioman Landings is a very special place to us, we are sure that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Since 2015 we have been continually improving the property to ensure that not only do you have a pleasant experience but that every time you come back there is something new to see and enjoy.

The house has been extensively remodeled to ensure it is pleasant and worry free for guests including two brand new heat pump systems to ensure that the temps are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The boat slips were completely rebuilt and now feature water and power at the dock.

Recent updates to the lawn for fall of 2017 include:

-The lawn area was expanded further to allow even more room to spread out.

-The Butterfly garden (directly outside the kitchen window), was cleaned and rejuvinated

-17 new trees were planted in the expanded lawn area.

-A new swing found its home under the chestnut tree.

-Some of the older trees were trimmed and a few smaller ones were removed to further improve the views.

Come sit on the swing, look out over the river and get back to the things that matter most.

We hope that you will come visit Currioman and that you enjoy it as much as we do.

About Joe Lambert

Our family has owned this home for four generations. We enjoy spending time on the river, playing games in the field or simply sitting in the shade and enjoying the view.

Why Joe Lambert chose Montross

Currioman Landings sits atop a steep bluff over the Potomac which is miles wide at that point. Most people find that the property offers a really unique escape from the day to day stress of life. From watching the resident bald eagles or walking in the gardens to playing in the river this is one of our favorite places to be.

What makes this cottage unique

Tall mature trees and wide yards provide exceptional privacy while allowing plenty of room for a large family to spread out.

Wildlife - 2018 is shaping up to be one of the better wildlife years in recent recollection. In 2017 we had two eagles take up residence on the property as well as a rotating cast of herons and other sea birds. The beavers in the creek are still busy working on their den and we see deer in the yard from time to time.

Cold Outside but Cosy Inside

  • 4 of 5

The family enjoyed our four days at Currioman Landing. The amenities, the views (especially at sunrise), and the general ambience were all conducive to fully enjoying family meals, games, and long winter evening conversations. The fireplace was especially appreciated. Some of us took a winter walk at Westmoreland State Park and some contemplated how pleasant it must be to take the boats out onto the water in warm weather. The house was clean, well maintained, and problem free. Well Done!

peaceful, beautiful rural setting with plenty of space

  • 4 of 5

Our family enjoyed a restful weekend at this beautiful property. There were only four of us, so we had plenty of space. In addition to the aquatic activities (which we unfortunately couldn't use because our daughter was in a cast), the owners supplied the home with lots of books and games and comfortable seating, which made us feel right at home. Less ideal was the outdated kitchen and upstairs bathroom, as well as flying insects in the home. Having trash left from a previous visitor by the entrance probably made the insect problem worse.

A weekend getaway wasn't enough!

  • 5 of 5

It was picturesque! My family and I loved it! We enjoyed fishing and just hanging out upfront by the tree. There were some issues but was acknowledged immediately, Thank you, Joe and Bo! We will definitely come back for a longer stay!

Beautiful place on the river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week and rarely left the property with the exception of the time we spent on the river. The boat ramp is very close to the house and the boat slips on the property were awesome. House is very nice and had everything we needed. Screened in porch is large and very nice.Owners made sure we had all of the information we needed. We would love to come back. Very peaceful place indeed !

Went for a family weekend to attend a local wine and oyster festival. We couldn't have asked for a more remarkable location. The home was quaint, clean, and just the right size for our group of 5. The screened porch was the best for morning coffee and watching the sunrise. The double kayak in the boat shed was perfect for my husband and I to paddle over to Shark Tooth Island. We even found a shark tooth!!!! The most amazing part was the property itself. Such an amazing view of river and so wonderfully landscaped. We all enjoyed sitting under the tree watching the activity on the water and walking around the property. Beautiful!!

Thanks to Joe for being an amazing host. I've rented from VRBO for years with great service, but he takes the cake when it comes to staying in touch leading up the our weekend and providing his contact just in case we needed him. We didn't, but it was nice to know he was there for us.

I would certainly recommend this home if you want a peaceful retreat to recharge your battery or to just spend some quality time with your family. Thanks for sharing your home with mine, Joe!

Currioman Landings sits on Currioman Bay, while technically part of the Potomac river the water is so wide here you might guess that you're looking at the Chesapeake. The local area is very rural, you may go an entire week without seeing a neighbor. We enjoy the area for the privacy, birds and natural views.
