About the property

Breath-taking Waterfront Property with Historic Cottage

Come enjoy this historic home and estate. The views are spectacular and will take your breath away! The property features a historic home, secluded privacy on over 11 acres of waterfront property, mature trees and stunning views of the river.

Now that the heat of summer has died down, come enjoy fall in the country. The norther neck is a perfect spot for a romantic couples weekend or a family getaway. Whether it be evenings by the fireplace, afternoon walks in the country or country drives to one of the local farmers market, the Northern Neck offers an experience you won't want to forget.

The covered pier is provided for guests who would like to bring their own boat and a launch ramp is just down the street. If you don't have your own boat feel free to use one of our kayaks or canoe. Fishing is good and many guests have good luck direcctly off the pier. Others choose to paddle out to nearby Sharkstooth Island and fish along the way.

2015 was the first year we have offered the property to the public and the response has been overwhelming. Currioman Landings is a very special place to us, we are sure that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Over the last 18 months the property has been extensively remodeled to ensure it is pleasant and worry free for guests. Noteworthy updates include:

Interior paint, carpet and fixtures - New HVAC and air conditioning - New master bathroom - New pier and boat slips - Wireless high speed internet - Updated landscaping.

New for 2016:

*Boats - We have added a sunfish sailboat, a canoe, a single kayak and a tandem kayak for guest use.

*Lawn games - Nothing says summer like a game of croquet in the front yard.

*Second furnace and AC unit added for the second floor to ensure things stay cool in the really hot stretches.

About Joe Lambert

Our family has owned this home for four generations. We enjoy spending time on the river, playing games in the field or simply sitting in the shade and enjoying the view.

Why Joe Lambert chose Chesapeake Bay - Northern Neck

Currioman Landings sits atop a steep bluff over the Potomac which is miles wide at that point. Most people find that the property offers a really unique escape from the day to day stress of life. From watching the resident bald eagles or walking in the gardens to playing in the river this is one of our favorite places to be.

What makes this cottage unique

Tall mature trees and wide yards provide exceptional privacy while allowing plenty of room for a large family to spread out.

Wildlife - 2016 is shaping up to be one of the better wildlife years in recent recollection. We've had two eagles take up residence on the property as well as a rotating cast of herons and other sea birds. The beavers in the creek are busy working on their den and we even have the occasional dear that will wander by.

A weekend getaway wasn't enough!

  • 5 of 5

It was picturesque! My family and I loved it! We enjoyed fishing and just hanging out upfront by the tree. There were some issues but was acknowledged immediately, Thank you, Joe and Bo! We will definitely come back for a longer stay!

Beautiful place on the river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week and rarely left the property with the exception of the time we spent on the river. The boat ramp is very close to the house and the boat slips on the property were awesome. House is very nice and had everything we needed. Screened in porch is large and very nice.Owners made sure we had all of the information we needed. We would love to come back. Very peaceful place indeed !

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Went for a family weekend to attend a local wine and oyster festival. We couldn't have asked for a more remarkable location. The home was quaint, clean, and just the right size for our group of 5. The screened porch was the best for morning coffee and watching the sunrise. The double kayak in the boat shed was perfect for my husband and I to paddle over to Shark Tooth Island. We even found a shark tooth!!!! The most amazing part was the property itself. Such an amazing view of river and so wonderfully landscaped. We all enjoyed sitting under the tree watching the activity on the water and walking around the property. Beautiful!!

Thanks to Joe for being an amazing host. I've rented from VRBO for years with great service, but he takes the cake when it comes to staying in touch leading up the our weekend and providing his contact just in case we needed him. We didn't, but it was nice to know he was there for us.

I would certainly recommend this home if you want a peaceful retreat to recharge your battery or to just spend some quality time with your family. Thanks for sharing your home with mine, Joe!

Beautiful!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay- great older home with a lot of character and plenty of sweeping water views- the scenery was really beautiful, even on a rainy day. We had a great time using the kayaks and canoes during the sunny days. They even have a chromecast set up for easy netflix viewing.

We did encounter a few issues- most notable was the lack of towels. It seemed that this was an anomaly and something had gone wrong with the cleaning crew, but nonetheless it was very challenging to navigate a full house of people for a long weekend with only 4 full size bath towels. The owner did eventually contact us back about this issue (24 hours after my first contact about the problem), and that, perhaps, was also an anomaly as he was somewhere with limited service. In the end, the issue was not able to be resolved (also a function of the remote location?) and that was frustrating.

The downstairs bathroom looks recently renovated and is beautiful, but the upstairs one is a little worn in. Both worked just fine for us. Everyone said they were comfortable on the beds as well.

Overall, we had a really great time and loved the house and all it had to offer. There was ample wildlife and beautiful sunrises. I would absolutely recommend this house, especially if you're coming from the DC area but don't want to battle traffic and crowds to get your water views. Also, we had an amazing time at Ingleside Winery, which isn't too far from the house. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home!

Wedding at Montross

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for my wedding! It was a beautiful view right on the water! All of our guests commented on the view and serenity of this place! The owner was very helpful and extremely quick to respond to any questions we had. Our wedding consisted of just under 100 guests and there was more than enough room! Our ceremony was located under a beautiful tree, cocktail hour was near the gardens, and our reception was in the wide open field where we had a large tent. The water extends across the whole property so you always have a beautiful view of the water no matter where you are! The only problem is there is not a ton of options for guests to stay. The Inn at Montross is awesome and we filled those rooms. The rest of our guests stayed in other VRBO homes in the area. My family stayed the rest of the weekend and went to sharks tooth beach which you can see from the property and boat to easily! Over all it was the perfect venue for our wedding and we could not have gotten a better deal!

Currioman Landings sits on Currioman Bay, while technically part of the Potomac river the water is so wide here you might guess that you're looking at the Chesapeake. The local area is very rural, you may go an entire week without seeing a neighbor. We enjoy the area for the privacy, birds and natural views.
